Looking at Neha Bora today makes me think how loud Umar Khalid's voice would have been today if he was out.

This post isn't about if Umar is innocent or not, we'll let time tell that. Barring this point please tell me your opinion on activist/student leader/ left wing politician/ scholar Umar Khalid.

Politics For the supporters of both sides, the critics, and the andhbhakts alike let’s have an honest conversation.

Whether you support Congress or BJP, I think Indian politics needs to have a serious conversation about leadership.
My question is simple: Is Rahul Gandhi really the strongest candidate Congress can put forward for Prime Minister?
Here are the concerns I have:
1. Where is the policy depth?
A national leader should be able to articulate detailed policy proposals, defend them under scrutiny, and engage in substantive debates about India’s biggest challenges. We need more discussions about actual policies and less political theatre.
2. Where is the executive experience?
Rahul Gandhi has had years in national politics. Why hasn’t Congress built a stronger record of executive leadership around its most prominent figures? Leading a state government could be one way for a politician to demonstrate administrative ability and deliver measurable results.
3. Why does the Gandhi family continue to dominate Congress?
India is full of capable people, yet the Congress leadership has remained closely associated with one political family for decades. Why should family legacy carry so much weight in deciding who leads a national party?
A party that claims to offer an alternative should be willing to demonstrate that leadership positions are earned through merit, competence, and results.
Here’s my bigger point.
If you oppose BJP, criticizing BJP alone isn’t enough. Congress also needs to present a credible alternative someone with strong policy knowledge, executive capability, independent thinking, and the ability to communicate a clear vision for India.
Not a Gandhi simply because of the surname. Not a yes-man chosen to protect the existing leadership. Someone who can stand on their own merits.
And this isn’t about whether BJP has the perfect candidate. That’s a separate debate. The question is why Congress hasn’t made a more convincing case for leadership over the past decade.
India has no shortage of brilliant minds. We have talented administrators, economists, entrepreneurs, and politicians across the country.
So why does finding a credible, merit-based alternative for the country’s highest political office seem so difficult?
At some point, shouldn’t the standard be the quality of the candidate rather than the party they belong to?

They dam the Brahmaputra River in China, which is where most of the water does not even come from, hence no national security or environmental impact whatsoever. What is the answer then to this dilemma? Clearly the only option is to create your own mega-dam in one of the highest seismic risk areas that could solve the nonexistent problem we created in the first place. If there is one thing that defines good policy decision-making, it surely is flooding native villages and our own citizens in the process.

Law / Courts Rajasthan BLO threatens unaliving himself over pressure to “delete Muslim votes” in seat BJP won by thin margin [OLD, Jan 2026]

Booth Level Officer (BLO) in Jaipur’s Hawa Mahal assembly constituency has alleged that he is being pressured to delete hundreds of voters, most of them Muslims, from the electoral rolls, and has warned that the stress has pushed him to the brink of suicide.

Kirti Kumar, a government school teacher serving as a BLO, said he is being forced to strike off the names of nearly 40 per cent of his booth’s voters from the draft rolls published after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). He alleged that these objections specifically target Muslim voters, even though he has already verified all of them.

In a video clip that has gone viral on social media, Kumar can be heard shouting during a phone call, “I will go to the collector’s office and commit suicide there.”

In the same clip, he is heard telling BJP councillor Suresh Saini, “Maybe I should remove voters from the entire basti. That will help you and Maharaj win the election comfortably.”

“Maharaj” is a reference to BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya, who won the 2023 Assembly election from Hawa Mahal, a Muslim-majority constituency, by a margin of just 974 votes.

Acharya, the chief priest of Jaipur’s Dakshinmukhiji Balaji Temple, has since been at the centre of repeated controversies over remarks and actions allegedly targeting Muslims.

The Indian Army gave Modi govt a severe-dressing down!!The "Agniveer Recruitments" weakened the Indian Army to such an extent we can't even imagine. > No one is ready to marry his daughter to Agniveers because of the elimination of pension scheme and short service span. > The Indian govt is compromising India's security. > Well trained Agniveers are being released when they are fully prepared to defend India. > And the most significant concern is that, currently almost all of India's neighboring countries are hostile towards it. Yet we are being forced to discharge well-trained Agniveer soldiers who are highly skilled in combat operations within regions like Kashmir and the North East's valley areas. Then how are we to deal with these hostile nations?
