Work Permit Closed Work Permit move to Canada with Postpartum Wife and 5 Months old Baby.

My company wants to send me to Canada on Closed Work Permit. Company allowed to function only in British Columbia and Alberta provinces. My work will be fully remote and I can stay anywhere I like in these 2 provinces. My stats:
1. Combined family income in India(gross) - ~75 LPA
2. All Loans EMI combined - ~1.1 Lakh per month
3. Wife is on maternity leave till end of March 2027
4. Move will be in Mid to End Feb 2027
5. Expected Salary in Canada will be ~$120,000 CAD for me
6. Baby will be 5 months old in Feb end 2027
7. Company will apply for ONLY my work visa and for my family only travel visa as dependents.
8. Wife is okay to not work for 1 year to take care of the baby.
9. Wife works as Solutions Architect in US based Financial Behemoth
10. I work as Associate Technical Manager - QE

My queries:
1. Does the move make sense?
2. Will the gross salary of $120,000 CAD suffice for family of 3 in Canada (BC & Alberta)?
3. If yes, then where should I move out of these 2 provinces?
4. How to apply for wife’s work permit in Canada?
5. Should wife’s work permit applied from India only or can be done after move to Canada?
6. India frustrates both of us a lot because of high corruption and low quality of life even after paying 33% tax - Should this be a reason to move to Canada?

All the help and guidance is appreciated. 🙏🏼

Work Permit PGWP shortened due to biometrics expiry — Online or paper extension?

Hi everyone! My wife’s PGWP and my Spousal Open Work Permit were approved in April 2026 but shortened until April 2027 due to her biometrics expiry. Her PGWP states: “Must renew biometrics for further extension consideration.”

She now has new biometrics valid until 2036. Our MP advised us to submit new extension applications to request the remaining eligible validity.

I have a few questions:
- Is it better to apply online or by paper?
- Should we submit both applications together or separately?
- Has anyone successfully received the remaining PGWP validity in a similar situation?

We’d really appreciate any advice or firsthand experiences. Thank you!

Work Permit How to come back

I miss Canada terribly and would like to return. I would like to have your help to know what my options are:

Background: 33 years old, dual French-British citizen, skilled worker, 2 years of professional work experience in Canada in marketing (NOC 11202). I am fluent in both French and English.

- I previously held a "Young Professionals" (Jeune professionnel) permit using my French passport. However, I was let go after 6 months, and due to a lack of work, I returned to France after 6months of unemployement.

- I also previously completed a 2-year stay under an International Experience Canada (IEC) "Working Holiday" permit using my British passport; that permit has since expired.

- I attempted to apply for permanent residence (PR) via Express Entry in Ontario, but the application was refused (my two former employers provided incomplete documentation), and I was not given the opportunity to correct the error. I would like to consult a lawyer, as I believe there may have been an issue with how my file was handled, but I do not currently have the funds to do so.

- I have submitted an application for permanent residence in Quebec (since my 2 years of work experience were gained there). Although Quebec has recently tightened its immigration laws... I am still hopeful that my application will be approved. I have to wair 6months-1year.

I would like to see what could be the other options, all my community and friend are there and I feel empty since I left the counrry.

IRCC said I can enter canada if I arrive by air using the extended study permit, so I'm getting confused here.

Work Permit Current situation with SOWP application, looking for advice

- Will be ready to submit SOWP application by next Monday, notary appointment is booked for final document. Will be able to submit literally minutes after

- Have included proof of relationship, letters of support, shared tenancy agreements, shared tax filings.

- Travelling to London between December 18th & December 30th

- Current work permit expires Jan 20th 2027

I know there's a risk of my application being rejected if I am out of the country during processing, is it potentially the better course of action to apply after returning to Canada on the 30th?

Work Permit Work Permit Expiring But AOR (Non EE PR) Not Received

I submitted my Non-Express Entry PNP PR application on March 28, 2026, but have not yet received my AOR. My PGWP expires on January 30, 2027, and IRCC’s website indicates approximately 7 months of processing time remain for March 2026 applications.

Timeline:

  • May 2024–May 2025: Completed a one-year course in Manitoba.
  • July 2025: Applied for PGWP.
  • November 2025: Received MPNP nomination.
  • January 2026–January 2027: PGWP validity.
  • March 28, 2026: Submitted Non-Express Entry PNP PR application.

Questions:

  • What are my options to extend my work permit if my AOR does not arrive before my PGWP expires?
  • Would I be eligible for a work permit under OB 699?

TL;DR:
My PGWP expires January 30, 2027, but I still have no AOR for my March 2026 PNP PR application. What options do I have to continue working? Could OB 699 apply to my situation?

Thank you!

Work Permit Problems with opening IMM forms

Hey guys,

I am applying for PGWP, and I need help with opening the form. I am running Linux in my computer, so I cannot run Acrobat Reader. Is there a way to to fill out the PDF forms given by IRCC? Let me know if you have any suggestions.

EDIT: I am currently in Victoria, BC, so will I find any public computers there?

Sorry, I don't want to install Windows on my computer. We all know about the trust issues with Micro-slop.

Express Entry Postdoctoral Associate at a Canadian university — NOC 41200 vs 41201?

Postdoctoral Associate at a Canadian university — NOC 41200 vs 41201?

I am currently employed as a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Alberta in the Department of Medicine. My work is research-focused rather than teaching-focused.

My employment contract states that my role involves:

  • epidemiological research on heart disease;
  • assessment of disease outcomes, medication use, and burden of illness;
  • analysis of manifestations and health-system impacts;
  • development of economic and modelling approaches to understand current and future healthcare needs;
  • generating evidence to inform clinical practice, resource planning, and health-system decision-making.

I also contribute to other research projects and provide methodological/research guidance and mentoring to PhD candidates. I have a PhD and my work includes research design, statistical analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, and scholarly publication. I do not have regular formal teaching duties.

I am trying to determine the most appropriate NOC for Express Entry.

NOC 41200 – University professors and lecturers explicitly lists “Postdoctoral fellow” under Inclusions. One of its main duties is:

“Conduct research in field of specialization and publish findings in scholarly journals or books.”

It also includes advising graduate students on research matters, but many of the other listed duties are teaching-related.

NOC 41201 – Post-secondary teaching and research assistants is another possible category, but my position is a formal postdoctoral appointment and I am not employed as a research assistant.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone here used NOC 41200 for a research-only or mostly research postdoc without regular teaching?
  2. Was your PR application approved using 41200?
  3. Did your university or HR officially classify your postdoc as 41200?
  4. Has anyone contacted the federal NOC unit about this and received guidance?
  5. Does anyone know of a case where a postdoc used 41200 and IRCC questioned or refused it because of the teaching-heavy lead statement/main duties?
  6. For those who used 41200 successfully, what did your employment/reference letter emphasize?

I am especially interested in first-hand experiences, not just general opinions about matching NOC duties.

Thanks.

Other HELP with eCOPR!!!

Hello! So I have already received my PR last year, however I was trying to look for my eCOPR document but couldn’t find it on my device and it’s not even available in the PR portal anymore. And I need this document to renew my Indian passport in Canada.

I have already raised a web form and also replied to the same email : IRCC.ClientPortal-PortailClient.IRCC@cic.gc.ca

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to receive a new eCOPR? Or is there a different process to apply for one?
My passport expires July 2027

Please let me know! Thank you!!

PNP Travel Outside Outside Canada with visitor record and eTA.

My Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) application is currently at the “Decision in Progress” stage, and I currently hold a visitor record. I am planning to travel outside Canada in February 2027 and have an approved Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).

Does anyone know if travelling outside Canada and returning would have any impact on my ongoing OINP application or my future permanent residence application?

PNP Non-Express Entry PNP – Criminality stuck for over a year, security not started. Anyone similar?

Hello everyone,
I’m a non-Express Entry PNP applicant (AR: November 2024)

My current status:
Eligibility: Passed
Medical: Passed
Criminality: In progress (over a year)
Security: Not started
Information sharing: In progress

My MP recently confirmed that criminality assessments are handled by a third-party partner.

Has anyone experienced something similar, particularly criminality being stuck for over a year while security hasn’t started?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone whose application was eventually approved. How long did it take, and did your status change suddenly?
Thanks!

Family Sponsorship Question about spousal OWP refusal and reapplying after AOR

My wife’s spousal open work permit application was refused because IRCC could not confirm that our PR application had passed the R10 completeness check. She has stopped working since the refusal.

We haven’t submitted a reconsideration request yet, but we’re planning to submit one through the IRCC web form.

If we receive our PR AOR in about two weeks and submit a new spousal open work permit application, can my wife start working the next day after submitting the new application, or does she have to wait until the work permit is approved?

Has anyone experienced the same situation? What did you do, and how long did you have to wait before you could work again?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My wife’s PGWP expired on October 5, and we submitted her BOWP application under inland spousal sponsorship on October 4. IRCC refused it within 20 days, which we never expected.

Family Sponsorship Trv for spouse

I applied for visitor visa before eligibility approval and it was rejected due to strong ties in Canada. I received eligibility recently and planning to apply for TRV again. What should be my approach to guarantee approval especially since the ties didn’t change significantly since the first trv application.

PNP PhD candidate - Humanities - PR ADVICE

I am a PhD candidate in the Humanities at a research university in BC. I have worked at the university as a full-time student, have lived in Canada for the past 3 years, and have completed my candidacy process. I recall that BC had the BCPNP stream, which allowed PhD candidates to apply for PRs through provincial nominations. I understand that stream was closed a year ago. I was wondering if there are any other routes that could be explored to secure PR. Please don't be mean or rude in the comments. This is simply a query.

Study Permit Study permit from the US (MSc, PAL-exempt): can a brokerage account count as proof of funds?

Hi all, I’m applying for a study permit from the US for a thesis-based MSc at a public Canadian university starting January 2027. I’m working on the “Proof of Means of Financial Support” upload and want to get it right.

My situation:

  • Bank account: about CAD 17k right now, but only about CAD 10-11k for most of the last 6 months
  • Brokerage account (Robinhood): about USD 50k, built up over the last 2 years, all from my salary, still invested
  • I have pay stubs and W-2s showing the income

Questions:

  1. Has anyone used a brokerage or stock account as proof of funds and been approved?
  2. Did you sell part of it to cash before applying, or were the brokerage statements enough?
  3. If I move money from the brokerage to my bank now, does the large deposit cause problems even with statements showing where it came from?
  4. Anything else you’d include (letter of explanation, employment letter, etc.)?

Thanks in advance!

Family Sponsorship Recommendation for Spousal Sponsorship Letter - Slightly Awkward

Hello, I am a Canadian citizen sponsoring my husband for his PR in Canada. As a part of the application, we both have to write relationship recap letters. Our relationship started in more of the XXX fashion than the PG story we tell our families. We met five months before we started dating and have been for almost 8 years now. Has anyone had experience with a less than conventional start to a relationship for PR sponsorship? Is it better the be honest in a PG euphemistic fashion or should we be (cringes) specific?

Other Traveled into Canada with previous DUI from 2022

Recently I had to go to Canada for work and I found out the week before I went that I had to go. I had known about the no entry with previous DUI, but I didn’t do any of the recommended steps and just flew into the airport and crossed through the airport and they didn’t say anything. My dui was back in 2022, so for those worried, I would say there is nothing to worry about. Only thing they asked me was what I was there for and since I marked I was there for work in the kiosk they asked me some questions about work but that was about it. Did the work I needed to do, played some golf at a couple of courses then got back on a plane and came back to the US few days later.

Citizenship Applied for citizenship early july and still haven’t gotten an AOR

Hey everyone!

I applied for Canadian citizenship ( by naturalization) in early July 2026 and still haven't received my AOR. The portal says they're currently issuing AORs for the week of July 21.
I'm a single applicant with a straightforward application. Today I called IRCC, and they confirmed that they have my application but told me to wait, with no estimated timeline.
Has anyone else applied around the same time and received their AOR? Any idea how much longer I might have to wait?
Thanks!
