Today I’m drawing a Wendigo, a creature associated with winter, starvation, and cannibalism in the traditions of several Algonquian-speaking indigenous societies. For this design, I’m taking inspiration from its modern horror depiction, with antlers and a skeletal face.
Stories vary between traditions, but a recurring theme is a hunger that can never be satisfied. No matter how much it eats, the hunger remains. Another meal, another victim, and still no relief.
It’s an image of greed taken to its extreme, forever taking more, even as there’s less and less to take.
Which feels familiar in the modern day as we watch billionaires treating the planet’s resources like their own personal stockpile. More land, more money, more power. Already more than they could use in a hundred lifetimes, but somehow still not enough. If having more means everyone else has less, well, apparently that’s everyone else’s problem.
I’m not saying they’re Wendigos, but I don’t think another tax break is going to satisfy the hunger.

Long arms, gaunt face, wearing a tie and hidden behind a mask, this is how this person lives in liminal places.

I know this style is a lot more colourful than the styles shown here. Sorry

For this drawing, I revisited our zombie whom we first met on day 2 of this challenge. Back then, he smelled pretty horrible but looked somewhat normal, albeit possibly under the influence of some serious chemicals. As we now know, the zombie virus was ultimately responsible for his unusual appearance.
On day 11, we saw how much he deteriorated. He was getting pretty raggedy. Parts started to fall off, and he was on another plane entirely, from a psychological perspective.
Now on the 23rd, we see the end result. Most of his hair has fallen out, along with his eyebrows. His nose and lips are gone, his ears are shredded, and the wounds across his face have opened up to reveal muscle and bone.
Of course, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. Unfortunately, in his case, that’s a thick black sludge that I wouldn’t recommend getting anywhere near. It’s sticky, it smells, and it’s absolutely terrible for your skin.

New beast for Sol'Kesh! And not the first time... I fully finished the drawing already and foolishly saved over the file, wiping out 2 weeks of art... but I got back on the wolf and now the Tundrus has a vinnirex cousin to prowl its snowy fields.

This one started out as a monster who lurked at the edge of a forest, but eventually I erased the trees and drew in grassy hills, and I think that works much better...not to mention makes it more dangerous. I mean, at least in a forest there's places to hide.
The name is Lakota for "knife feet."

With this prompt, I wanted to return to creating a horror-themed drawing. I decided to depict the beacon as a flashlight whose beam draws the attention of a sea creature lurking in the darkness.
