Question Thinking about Eight Billion Genies
I keep meaning to dive back in to the Ghost Machine stories. (I can scarcely believe that I still haven't leafed through the pages of Rook: Exodus yet.) But it was decided today that my next Image Comics reading experience will be Eight Billion Genies. I've been procrastinating for far too long. I've enjoyed many a Soule creation and I'm sure I'll enjoy this one too.
What's your favorite (spoiler-free) thing about Eight Billion Genies?

Have you read Curse Words by the same duo? Very fun read that packed more emotion than I could have expected from it's early issues.
Has anyone who finished God Hates Astronauts tell me if it has the same trajectory? It's a little bit too heavy on the late 2000s comedy halfway through volume 2.

God Hates Astronauts is just batshit crazy from beginning to end.

Curse Words was fun even if it's not very memorable. God Hates Astronauts was difficult for me to get into and I soon found myself seeking satisfaction elsewhere.

I enjoyed GHA, but compared to 8BG, it's definitely an early work. They've refined their work over the years

It defined how I would wish forevermore upon finishing with tear streaked eyes. It hit like a sledgehammer.

Eight Billion Genies is brilliant. The social commentary is very well done. The same team wrote Lucky Devils that I think wraps up in a month. If you like EBG check out Lucky Devils I think it's slightly better.

I liked it, but I do think the premise was stronger than the book itself.

Yeah. This book wasn’t bad by any means but it wasn’t nearly as good, to me, as Reddit had hyped it up to be.

I admit that I bought it for the hype. The premise sounded so interesting. But the time-jump mechanic made me lose track of anyone I may have had a connection with.

Almost every character we meet goes through an arc or a storyline of some kind.
I read the first chapter, was hooked, bought a bundle only for this. Then I binge read the entire series once I got it. My all time favourite comic. Absolutely amazing and I promise you you won't regret reading it.

Just read it last week (part of a Humble Bundle). I was a little confused on the rules of making wishes, about which wishes could/couldn't cancel other wishes. But similar to time travel stories, I try not to think about it too hard.
Also, I love that the genies use the wishers intent rather than exact actual words, non monkey paw style. =)
Very cool story. Recommended!
Also, Curse Words was awesome!!!!!

Great choice! This is an EXCELLENT series, as are all of their books together. I love how each book takes place an 8-increment of time later (8 seconds, 8 minutes, 8 hours, 8 days, etc)

Loved reading it. Might be the only trade paperback I’ll bring on my move over the Atlantic. Just so many little things and creativity abounds.

This is simple - but it made me laugh a lot and well we all need that. Very creative

Trying my best to be spoiler free, my favorite thing was how they constructed the system of using wishes, IE the rules/ bending of the rules in terms of what and how to wish. A very fun, faced paced ride. Easy and quick to consume yet deep and engaging. Looking forward to a follow up post!

The synergy of Browne and Soule in general actually. I read both this and Curse Words, latter being better albeit longer than it needed to be. Both are fun.

I read the entire hardcover one day with a kitten asleep on my lap. That was a really good day.

I loved it as well. Anybody recommend anything similar. Not in the sense of wish based comic. But something with a strangely fascinating premise and great world building
