Discussion Anyone remember Gorilla Comics?

The creators were some of the most popular DC and Marvel creators of that time, but sadly it failed.

I remember when Wizard covered it. Between the hype and the people working in it I’m surprised it failed so quickly but after looking it up on Wikipedia and seeing their business strategy it made sense why it happened.

It also underperformed sales wise.I remember in Wizard magazine, they were shocked that Shockrockets underperformed, when Kurt Busiek was the hottest writer of that time and Stuart Immonen was a very popular artist.

I always thought Empire was a interesting idea for a book .

Was obsessed with this imprint a couple of years ago, have only read the Busiek/Immonen collaborations and Empire, but have always meant to read Section Zero because I love Tom Grummett. I know Tellos technically was added into the imprint a little later but I consider it a part of the line too.

The section zero books were continued on Kickstarter and Tom just finished a new graphic novel. Wayyyyyyyyyy behind schedule but it's done.

Good books that are worth a read if you ever find them. Most have at least a trade available. I think Crimson Plague is the only one not finished because Perez was working on JLA/Avengers, Crossgen Chronicles and Crimson Plague at the same time.

always wondered who the initial investor was who backed out RIGHT before they announced the launch —— heard MIGHT of been Bulldog ? a third party comic distributor and when that fell apart the books quickly pivoted to Image instead of being 100% independent
