Always loved gold accents on guitars so made some changes to my ibanez RGA42FM.

It's older but it's my best playing guitar and my go to. Wish it had 24 frets but man this things shreds.

Hello r/ibanez, just wanted to share my new custom RGRT421
What we installed: - Switched the white/pearls markers on the scale for black dots (Black is always better) - Gotoh Locking tuners - Seymour Duncan's Sentient + Pegasus - 3 position switch - Humbucker split on tone knob pull - Whole eletronic replaced - Graphtech nut
This guitar is just incredible for the price you pay. The neck-through fells AMAZING and the neck fells very fast. But a little more thick than my other Ibanez RG350DXZ. The paint on the neck fells very smooth.
Stock pickups fells weak and a little muddy. The stock 5-way switch is just super confusing/anoying, the 3-way and split-pull gives more posibilities and its way more logical to me. In this case made more sense to just replace all the eletronics, pots, wires, switch.
Final result its amazing tone and playability. I play more rhythm and fast metal riffs. So I fell like the perfect guitar for that.

Love everything about the 550 but the pickups(still good). I’ve had Dimarzio tone zone and air norton in several RGs though; still my recommendation for anyone looking to upgrade. However when I saw Fishman has a Strat trem plate battery that fit I thought it’d be a fun project to go active. Pickguard comes from StormGuitars, can be found on reverb for all kindsa bodies btw :). Kicked off the tone knob and put the push/pull volume in its place. No more knocking volume now. My main RG5121 prestige beats 550 but nottt by much. Honestly the value and history of RG550 deserves all the love.. and mods hahah

So, the dream guitar arrived today. What a wonderful instrument. I've owned some of the original RGs released so many years ago, a few Prestige models, and now this seven-string.

Hey everyone! I decided to tackle the iconic first 1:20 of Paul Gilbert’s "Technical Difficulties". Getting those clean string skips and alternate picking runs up to speed is always a great workout on an Ibanez.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the tone and execution—feedback from fellow shredders is always welcome!

Ibanez 5-way switching is the best.
Like many of you, I spend 90% of my time playing the bridge humbucker.
My second-favorite position is split bridge + split neck (or even better, neck single coil).
Yep, that's position two with Ibanez 5-way switching.
Perfect.
But a toggle + push/pull requires me to do TWO things to switch positions.
Why do I care?
That's the entire Ibanez RGD range out of the question for me.
And these guitars look perfect for me in every other way.
Ibanez 5-way switching is amazing and everyone should copy it.
Even if you want a different position, you can adapt the 5-way.
Quite why Ibanez abandoned it for an otherwise amazing extended range guitar formula is beyond me.

Here's my RG250LTD and what do you guys think? These were made in 01 and only sold in Japan and parts of South America. This is a MIJ ibby and has been one of mains for years. Anyways enough about that here's the upgrade list. Running this through a mark V 25 mesa. Also it's hard to tell from the picture but it is a mirrored pick guard.
Pickups: Dimarzio crunchlab/Evo single/liquifire with individual pushpull pots for splitting the buckers.
Bridge: OFR.

This guitar is super special to me. My youngest and I picked it up as a rehab project awhile back. It was in horrendous shape - almost unplayable, with scars all over that made it looked like it'd been dragged behind a truck. Maybe it was?
Six months later, it's probably my favorite guitar to play. It's an RG657PB in Anvil Grey Burst. Our first Prestige! What a monster.

The shiny two are awesome but it’s the worn and the relic that’s Devine! I just can’t help showing these off, but they are like children!

Super stoked to have my first Ibanez after playing guitar for 20 years.

This is by far the heaviest guitar I owned with Super Distortion - Chopper - Air Norton combo! So much fun to play, especially some nasty Motley Crue riffs.

It has been a month since I received my Ibanez AZ2204 Prestige and I wanted to write a comprehensive review.
I was on the hunt for a modern Strat, and after owning several Suhrs in the past, the AZ line was quite appealing.
Initial impressions were quite disappointing. Guitar came decked with 5 springs, bridge pivot posts were lowered to the body. Strings felt stiff and tuning stability was horrible.
Luckly those things were just a setup issue. Everything else on the guitar was flawless. Nut was cut correctly, and the frets were level which for me is the most important thing.
After reading a bit I realized a lot of people had similar issues, and that these guitars are quite notorious for quality control issues. Since mine was fine I decided to do my own setup.
Now this guitar is one of THE BEST guitars I’ve ever played. It is rock solid tuning wise. I can fully divebomb and go up in pitch, it stays in tune. Feels as smooth as butter to play and I’m in love with it. It is as good as any Suhr I owned being less than double the price.
So I’ll explain what I did, and hopefully it will make your life easier.
First make sure you set your neck relief to your preference. Mine is almost flat, with a very small amount of relief, as that’s what I prefer. After that, I raised my bridge pivot posts off the body around 0.75mm. MAKE SURE YOU UNLOCK SCREWS INSIDE THE POSTS PRIOR, AND TIGHTEN THEM BACK WHEN YOU’RE FINISH. This makes huge difference when it comes to tuning stability. I have removed two springs, using only 3 at the moment and set my bridge to float using the Frudua method. A simple YouTube search will bring you to the video. Springs are mounted horizontally like in his video, and the process is extremely easy to do. It will make your G string go a minor third, B string full step and E string half step.
String height is a subjective preference. Set your string height roughly prior of setting the tremolo, as lowering or raising saddles will offset your springs. Once you have tremolo adjusted, check your string height and readjust the springs slightly to get correct intervals.
I have my action set 1.3mm on my high E and 1.5mm on my low E.
You should be 90% there now, but there are two more crucial steps. First make sure your tuners are tightened as well. There is a small hole in the back of each tuner, a small Allen key goes in and you can tighten it there. Second and probably most important is to lube all the friction points. There are several options. I use Big Bends Nut Sauce, there is Music Nomad lube, I even heard people using Vaseline for it. So lube your string saddles, nut and string tree from below and you should be ready to rock.
I hope this be helpful and bring you more joy playing you’re instrument because as I said, I’m absolutely in love with mine.
Have a good day!
