I think I need to add another spring to the claw in the back, does anyone recommend what kind of springs I may need? Guitar Center doesn’t have a great variety thanks.

I've been eying this for two months, ironically right after it got discontinued. Anyway, I saw it in stock at Thomann a week ago and fingured it was perfect timing and bought it. Jesus Christ, this thing is horrid. The first thing I felt when I took it out of the case was the dogshit fretwork. These things have been sanded to the fucking fretboard (it doesnt look like that in the pictures but trust me it feels like that), i guess to level them, and then not crowned, they are as flat as they could possibly be. It's impossible to play in tune. And even if it were playable it sounds like fucking shit. It's not grounded. The wire is not soldered to the trem claw. And even if it was grounded, the guitar still sounds like shit, i would wager a guess something else is off with the electronics i can't be bothered to open the cavity because it sounds that bad. Needless to say, this is a huge disappointment, seeing as this is supposedly some of the best that Ibanez has to offer. It's going back to Thomann, and I'm getting my money back because this is outrageous.

Hi there.
I recently purchased an Ibanez AZ Tod10 (Tim Hensons signature) and I'm looking for someone to give me a description on the neck profile/thickness/Feel and some side profile pictures if possible?
Unfortunately where I am there isn't any available to try out.
Pic for attention.

Hey guys,
Really need some advice here. I recently picked up a 1997 MIJ Ibanez RG548 (Fujigen). It's actually my only guitar right now, and honestly, I love it—it's got a set of Seymour Duncans and plays great overall. But I ran into a pretty nasty surprise with the bridge.
The metal baseplate on the tremolo is completely snapped right at the right pivot post. When I talked to the seller about it, he mentioned he had actually noticed a crack before selling it, but he said he just forgot to mention it and didn't think it was a big deal. Well, yesterday I lightly scraped it, the old glue gave way, and the whole piece just fell right off.
That completely explains a weird mystery: I set the guitar up perfectly, the action is amazing, and the intonation is spot on. If I leave the tremolo alone and don't touch it, the tuning is actually totally fine. But the second I use the whammy bar, it never returns to the exact same pitch.
The seller told me he will get me another tremolo only if this one actually needs to be replaced. To be honest, I'm kind of stressing out and worried if he'll actually stand by his word and follow through with getting it.
So I'm posting here to ask you guys: does a snap right at the pivot post mean this thing is completely done for and definitely needs to be replaced, or can it somehow work as is?

I am a proud owner of A Jem Jr. it’s a great tool, but has its drawbacks such as inarticulate pickups. Also, more importantly- it’s not yellow!!!
So I get an RG550- the quintessential Jem Production line guitar. I get it, and the color is off. It’s not a desert yellow, but a highlighter yellow.
It’s throwing me off, and I am a huge fan of the neck and pickups, but I like body on the hem better.
I will be switching the pickups on the Jem jr, and most likely returning the RG550.
Thoughts on enjoying the Jem Jr better than its big brother the RG550???

So I’ve had this thing for about 3 years. I don’t play it much as it’s not my thing.
I’m trying to figure what to do with it. I had it listed for a week and got one response calling it garbage. Not any interest… just calling it garbage. Said it might be worth 500 if I fixed it up perfectly.
At that I just took down the listing. Probably going to strip it down and repaint and upgrade.

Hey guys! I recently bought and sold my RG550 genesis and I did it for a reason I feel like wasn’t the best.
My first Ibanez was an RG470DX, and the modern Ibanez neck heel was amazing but I hadn’t known any better.
I had so many people tell me that the RG550 genesis were the best guitar for your money (MIJ for about $1,000). And I believed it.
The day my guitar came, a brand new RG550 in desert sun yellow. I was STOKED. I tuned it up, set it up, and started playing. Fret edges felt amazing, I’m a HUGE fan of maple boards on almost every guitar.
Then I started soloing, going up fretboard until I started getting to the higher frets. Here’s the thing, I have VERY SMALL hands, way smaller than the average person my age. And stretching my hand to reach the 24th fret was insanely uncomfortable. The countoured heel never really did anything.
I was frustrated. This guitar sounded amazing and I loved it but I sold it because my hands were too small, and I could hardly bend notes on the high frets.
Are neck heels really a turn off for some people?? Am I going crazy?

Just bought this GRG 270 for $190 and someone told me it might be fake. I'm not sure, so I'm asking here before I assume anything. Where it was made and who it was bought from is below. Can anyone tell me if it's legit? I can post more photos if needed. Thanks!
EDIT: I GOT MY MONEY BACK STOP FLAMING ME PLEASE

I would love to get my hands on a RGR5220M TFG if I could find one at a decent price.

Hello fellow Ibanez owners,
I personally own 3 Ibanez guitars (and Ibanez only) and loving them. However, when going through different guitar communities or forums (language wise I often browse through English, Chinese and Japanese posts), I often notice that people describe Ibanez guitars as "sounding flat" or "sounding bad" or "lack of personality".
Could someone help to explain what are they on about? Or is there historic reason behind or something?
For me, Ibanez sounds like Ibanez and I love it. I feel bad of my favorite brand being attacked. Thank you for your time.

So there's this RG5120 listed near me for 1490 euros.
I don't want to put the money out plus I have to many guitars so I figured one in one out.
I got back into playing metal last year, and my main is now a RGD4427FX. My Fender strat elite is a fantastic guitar and has been my main for ages but I haven't been using it much lately so I'm considering this trade. While I know these are 2 very different animals, let's just say if I had both in front of me right now, I'd pick the Ibanez up.
I'm just testing the waters there, and sent the pictures. I think my strats value more or less matches what they're asking for. So let's say they accept the trade, what would you do ?

I was cleaning and waxing my JS2450 and I noticed these ridges in the body. I know its made of wood, but I figured on a premium instrument these would be shaved down to a smooth finish, or am I thinking incorrectly?

I bought my RG450DXB, which I hopefully will have remembered to attach photos of, about 6-8 weeks ago, I've only been playing seriously for like 3 and a half months, but that's kind of irrelevant.
Before I got this guitar I did my research so I knew what I was getting into with a double-locking tremolo and I think I've handled it exceptionally well for my amount of experience. I have been able to do a full set up, change strings, intonate it, take it fully apart and reassemble it, all with no problems. I've read the documentation, watched videos, bought the tools, and looked at forums along the way and have learned a lot. Despite all this, my damn guitar will not stay in tune even in the slightest.
I'm not talking about "oh boohoo I have to re tune once every few days" I mean I've had to re-tune like 5+ times today and sure, I played for a long time, like 8 hours, I abused the whammy bar quite a bit, and I made a couple of tweaks (adjusted spring tension, tuning obviously, bent the tremolo arm) but nothing that it wasn't mean to handle. I can not for the life of me figure out why it won't stay in tune. Even if I just play and don't touch the whammy bar it will fall out of tune after enough time. Also, it's not by a little bit, it's by like close to a half-step or even up to a full step on a couple occasions.
When I intonated it, about a week ago, I did notice that I had to pull my G string back really far which now causes it to sit noticeably higher than the rest of the strings. Does that matter? Probably not, but I thought I'd mention it to cover all my bases and maybe someone knows a fix that I don't. Other than that, I reckon I'll specify that it uses an Edge Zero II without the Zero Point System. I have the spring tension even and properly adjusted so that the bridge lays naturally as it is supposed to, I have not made any after market modifications, I do not believe I have damaged anything or that anything came damaged from the seller, it is a second hand guitar but the guy I got it from runs a sort of shop so I feel he's pretty legit, I use NYXL strings which are about a week newer than the guitar, and that's all I can think of to mention. If there's anything else you'd like to know about my setup, let me know and thank you very much to anyone who helps.

My insatiable lust for guitars demands that I own one with a trem, and I've picked out two, but cannot decide for the life of me. On one hand, we have the RGDR4327R Prestige. I love the aesthetics and ergonomics of the RGD, but I don't know much about locking trems and I'm unsure if either of these guitars comes with a better, more reliable bridge. I realize the J Custom will probably be higher quality overall but is the difference noticeable?

Hey everyone!
This is probably a dumb question, but hell, I'm curious.
I own 3 Ibanez guitars.
2003 Ibanez Prestige RG2820CT (My pride and joy and one of 250 ever made in it's finish)
2002 Ibanez Prestige S1220. (Super cool, pretty rare S series Prestige, only made for the year 2002) so sort of rare.
2008 Ibanez Prestige RG1527 (Has LOTS of mods, to many to list)
There's a 2004 Ibanez J Custom RG8570TT, in my country for €1,800. I don't have €1,800 right now, and even if I did, it would be going into savings for a house.
So you can probably see where this is going. If any of you guys were me, would you part with 2, if not, all 3 of those guitars, to have a J Custom, or keep all 3?
Something to think about ! I'll post pics of my guitars and the J Custom here for yous!
Thank you, and have a blessed one.

1) RGA20P1PB - Cosmic Blue Burst, only available with a floating bridge
2) RGA21P1PB - Deep Twilight Burst, only available with a fixed bridge
These are both Ibanez Premium models. Stainless steel frets, ebony fretboard, Dimarzio Fusion Edge pickups.
I like the Cosmic Blue finish more, but that only comes with a floating bridge. I do want a guitar with a floating bridge and have had a few in the past, but I know it’s a lot more of a pain to change tunings, string gauge, etc. I know how to do full setups, including floating bridges, so that’s not a problem, but I know if I get the Deep Twilight Burst, that it will be a more versatile guitar. I’m looking to buy used, not new. I’m also considering a used Prestige, but not sure about pickups. I’ve seen them come with Fishman Fluence, Dimarzio Tone Zone and Air Norton. I don’t think I like the Tone Zone, it sounded either twangy and/or mid-heavy to me … didn’t love the tone. Aaaanyway, what would you do?

I owned a couple of Custom Shop guitars from different brands such as Jackson and ESP. I currently own an Exhibition Series ESP and it seems like they lose a lot of value but the high-end Ibanez's are well in the 10-20k usd price range on Reverb or local websites. I've never owned an Ibanez but tried to trade for a couple of those RG550-570-1550-2550-2570 etc... I am very happy with my ESP but I was wondering what people see in Ibanez's so that they hold their values better than any brand and I am very curious. This post isn't about investment or making money. Just trying to understand guitars of a brand that I don't know much about.
r/Ibanez • u/Rough_Ad_5534 • Sep 07 '26
Most of the spec's are identical.
Key differences. SW has a trem and inlays and costs like 100 more.
Both models share core extended-range specs, including a 26.5" scale length, 24 Jumbo frets, a 16"–16.9" radius Rosewood fingerboard, and a Wizard-7 5-piece Maple/Wenge neck. Nickle frets and same boring DiMarzio's.
Funny cause both of them are glazing how they designed the guitar from scratch.... Lmfao .... They made like 3 choices.
Here's the kicker. I live in the US and for the same specced guitar your looking at like 1600-1800 bucks.
Dropping axe or SW an extra 1000 bucks for a paint job is fucking nuts. I mean Axe Palace basically copied John Tao Brown's Schecter colours on both!!!

I acquired this guitar a little while back with this awful paint job. I’m in the process of restoring it, but can’t seem to find out what model it would be from and what the rough value would be. I know it is from 1997 and made in Japan. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have the RG752 with the weathered black finish, which is honestly pretty fragile. Took this pic after plugging in a jupiter bridge and sentient neck and the finish really stands out.

When you dive the bar, it returns to pitch perfectly as it should. When you pull up though, it returns slightly sharp. I inspected the knife edges when I bout the guitar and they looked basically new and pivots with zero resistance.

I have my RG2620QM for... 21 years 😭
I changed the default pickups for a classic Tone Zone / Paf Pro (or Tone Zone / Air Norton, I don't even remember !)
But I would like a serious change. What would be your creative ideas ? I like more warm sounds now, and I want to be sonically relevant in many genres.
Note: As you see, there is a GK3 kit hat was installed, so the back is already full of electronic, and I would not have room for a preamp: so no active pickups.
UPDATE:
- as I said in a comment, the pickups that are actually installed are the original JPM100 pickups: Steve's Special + Air Norton
- I have in my drawer: the famous ToneZone/Paf Pro combo, and a set of BareKnucle "Warpig"
The warpigs look badass, but I fear they wouldn't be so versatile
