💛 Welcome to [r/IVFbabies](r/IVFbabies)(est. 2022)

🌱 [r/IVFbabies](r/IVFbabies) Community Guidelines

About This Community

Your IVF journey doesn’t end with a positive test — and neither should your support system.

This space is for those who have completed an embryo transfer and are living in the “what now” phase — whether that means waiting for results, navigating pregnancy, or facing loss.

After transfer, many find themselves in between worlds — pregnant, but not always safely pregnant either. This community exists so you have a place where you do belong.

⸻

💬 Why We Exist

Many IVF spaces focus on getting pregnant — and often limit discussion once pregnancy begins.

Your story doesn’t stop at a positive test — and neither does our support.

⸻

🧭 Who This Space Is For

This community is for individuals who:

• Have completed an IVF transfer (fresh or frozen), and/or

• Are pregnant from IVF.

⸻

🚫 What This Space Is Not For

To protect the emotional safety of our members, this is not a general IVF advice or “how did you get pregnant?” space.

⸻

‼️ Medical Content Policy (Strict)

We are not doctors.

For your safety and the integrity of this community, medical interpretation posts are not allowed.

This includes:

• HCG / beta levels

• Pregnancy tests

• Ultrasounds

• Embryo grading

• Spotting, bleeding, cramping, discharge. No mention of blood in posts.

• Medication dosing or advice

• Any “is this normal?” medical questions

🚨 If you are experiencing bleeding, spotting or concerning symptoms:

Contact your doctor or go to the ER. Do not post here.

Every pregnancy is different. What is harmless for one person may be a loss for another — and this is not a place to determine that.

Ex: We used to have a lot of people post about spotting. Yes, spotting can be normal but it can also mean bad news. Just because spotting was normal for you does not mean it’s normal for someone else. If you post about spotting or bleeding it will be removed unless you mention you have been see by your doctor (had a scan, not just a call or visit without ultrasound) and are just asking others what to expect.

⸻

⚠️ Ultrasound Disclaimer

Ultrasounds should only be interpreted by a qualified medical provider.

Boutique ultrasound findings or technician comments are not a substitute for medical diagnosis and should not be relied upon or discussed here for interpretation.

⸻

✅ What Is Allowed (Medical-Adjacent)

You may post if:

• You have already been seen and diagnosed by a doctor, and

• You are asking for shared experiences or emotional support, not interpretation

Make sure you put that in your post! Ex: I have been diagnosed with an SCH, what can I expect?

⸻

🚨 Enforcement

• You will receive a warning if your post violates these rules

• Continuing to post after a warning may result in a ban

• Posts that break medical rules will be removed immediately

Been sick constantly for the last month, worried about baby

I'm probably being irrational but after going through so much to get here it's hard to let go of the anxiety. I'm currently 15 weeks. I had a bad cold two weeks ago that I mostly got over with just a lingering cough, but then a couple days ago I developed flu like symptoms and am still recovering from those. I tested negative for everything but my husband tested positive for flu with the same symptoms so I suspect I just tested too early or something. My OB wasn't concerned as long as the fever remained controlled with Tylenol, which it did. Anyone else been sick a lot with no negative effects on the developing fetus?

Need Advice Measuring Behind

Hi all,

I went in for my scan yesterday at 6w 3d, and mostly went well - we saw the heartbeat and the sonographer even let us hear it, describing it as “strong” (i don’t know the official heart rate), however we are measuring 4 days behind (5w6d) so I’m latching onto this.

The sonographer said she wasn’t concerned, but I’m really panicking over it and not sure how I will wait 10 days for my repeat scan. :( Anyone been here before?

Content Warning Another chemical?

Tw: slowing down betas and chemical?

9dpt 165

11dpt 460

13dpt 860 today

I also stopped having all my symptoms last night and progesterone decreased itself from 25->20. this happened exactly in my previous chemical, stopped feeling everything ->lower progesterone = chemical.

Were you in a similar situation? How did it end up?

Im really scared..after 3 months of suppression, no diary, no gluten.. and again another chemical.

UPDATE: the difference was lab! 1st and the 3rd are the same lab but the second is another. so I. got another test with the same lab as 11dpt and I got 1700 at 14dpt. SO DO NOT CHANGE LABS in between the beta results, thats the lesson learned.

IVF and genetics

Trigger warning...success

My miracle baby is almost 9 months old and I came on here mostly for solidarity or maybe some shared experiences and how u dealt with anything similar.....

My son has the most beautiful blue eyes with just a hint of brown around the center. Now I have light brown eyes and his father has hazelish brown/green eyes but mostly brown. I am sure you can imagine some of the ignorant remarks we get from some of the people that know he waa conceived through IVF. It just thoroughly pisses me off!!! That is my son and my husband's son so for someone to suggest someone made a mistake in the lab or switched our samples is just a horrible thing to suggest.

Couples who conceive naturally dont have to deal with these comments. Yes, it ia genetically possible for our baby to havw blue eyes since we both have the recessive gene but for some reason everyone thinks it is impossible! Plus they can still change in color until he is 3 years old!!!

Idk i guess I just wanted to vent bc it amazes me the things that people will say to us as IVF parents that they'd never even consider saying to other parents.

People who had ICSI, did you have a boy or girl?

I transfered a 2AA Icsi embyro. Some people say ICSI makes more girls, meanwhile I heard AA Day 5 embryos are more likely to be boys. What was it for you guys?

Edit; Where I live they do not tell you the gender.

Induction

I am 38weeks pregnant today. My ob said i would be induced due to ivf, mild polyhydramnios as per mfm and my age(37). My induction date is schedulled at 39w3d. I am looking for people with similar experience who were suggested induction due to these factors and what ended up happening eventually. I have been reading all sorts of horror stories with pitocin. I am scared. I didnt say no to induction because it took me a long time with alot of roadblocks to reach at this point where i am today. I want my baby to be healthy. I do not want to regret if i decide to wait. This is my second pregnancy. First was spontaneous pregnancy and spontaneous labor 10 days after due date(i went into labor the day i was supposed to be induced). Anyone here who was induced and had a good outcome? For some reason my instagram algorithm is showing me all the pitocin nightmares.

Red wine bruising/skin reaction marks at old injection site

Currently 14 weeks with my IVF miracle. I did PIO shots until ten weeks, but around nine weeks I had a bad reaction to one of my shots. At the time by butt cheek swelled terribly and I was in a lot of pain for several hours. My clinic wasn’t concerned, and the worst of the swelling dissipated (the knot never fully left), so I thought I’d moved past it.

But this week I massaged that area a bit and slept on that side and now I have a weird bruise or skin reaction there again! From an injection five weeks ago! It looks a lot like one of those red wine birthmarks, but I know it’s from my injection site. And it’s gotten worse over the past couple days. Not terribly painful, but tender, and the red wine mark/bruise has spread significantly. It was just two dime sized spots and now it’s almost half the size of my palm.

Has anyone else had something similar happen? I’m going to ask my OB about it when I can (graduated the clinic weeks ago) but it’s Sunday so I won’t get a response for a bit.

Positive test

Had my transfer on 10/12, got my first positive test on Wednesday the 21st, and took 3 more the next 2 days because I couldn’t believe it. Went in on Friday for my beta and it was 348.57, I don’t have many symptoms besides a little cramping and lower back pain, I am super excited, but I think there is a little part of me that isn’t letting myself fully enjoy this. I think the fear of losing something we worked so hard to get. I also think because I don’t feel pregnant, it’s kind of messing with my head. This is a normal feeling? I feel crazy having to constantly remind myself it’s ok to be happy.

My last successful transfer (mmc at 7weeks) felt so different… anyone relate?

I know only time will tell if my transfer was successful, but the waiting game is so hard..
I had a successful transfer a year ago (but ended up having a missed miscarriage at 7 weeks). I remember feeling a lot of cramping at 5 and 6dp5dt, and thinking I was about to get my period.
This time around, I felt mild cramping on the day of my FET and the day after, then some moderate cramping at 2dp5dt. After that, almost nothing. Now I’m 5dp5dt and still barely feeling anything.
I can’t help thinking it failed this time around as well.. Has anyone experienced vastly different symptoms with their successful transfers?

Period-like cramps at 3dp5dt – Second FET 😭

This is my second FET with a 5AA embryo, and I’m experiencing the exact same symptoms as during my first failed transfer.
Transfer day and 1dp5dt: Random twinges.
2dp5dt: Nothing. Suddenly feeling mentally clear and having very mild diarrhea (I always get mild diarrhea about two days before my period).
3dp5dt: Period-like cramps, with a warm, burning sensation in my uterus, exactly like when my period is about to start, along with mild diarrhea.
Last time, I had exactly the same pattern! I eventually got my period despite taking Prolutex 25 mg twice daily and Estrofem three times daily. 😭
Why does this happen? How can my period start despite taking these medications? What should we change next time?
Has anyone experienced the same symptoms and still had a successful transfer? 😭
My FET medications:
Doxycycline until transfer day.
Medrol for 4 days until transfer day.
Prolutex for 5 days before transfer, continuing after transfer as well.
One baby aspirin the night before transfer.

Advice Third beta after two good rises? Is this normal?

I had my first FET on 10/12 with a day 5 embryo and got my first positive at 4dp5dt!

My betas so far:
9dp5dt: 207.6
11dp5dt: 508.7

My nurse called today and said my numbers increased nicely, which I was so relieved about! But then she said my doctor wants me to come back Monday (14dp5dt) for a third beta.

I honestly thought after two good betas I’d be scheduling my first ultrasound, so now I’m overthinking everything lol. They said they’ll discuss scheduling the ultrasound after Monday’s results.

My progesterone has stayed around 23 and my estrogen dropped from 153 to 121, but they told me to continue all my medications as usual.

This is my first pregnancy after IVF and I’m already so anxious about every little thing. I know my numbers look good, but I can’t help wondering why they want another test.

Did anyone else have to do three betas even though their first two looked good? Is this pretty standard at some clinics? Just looking for some reassurance because the waiting is driving me crazy!

Need Advice Husband posting about my pregnancy on IG without me knowing

I am 12 weeks pregnant and terrified obviously bc of what it took to get here. I told my husband I’d probably keep this pregnancy a secret as long as I can. Unfortunately he recently has gone viral on Instagram and did a podcast without my knowledge and talked about fatherhood and expecting a baby and my journey with IVF. Today my best friend called me crying to ask me if it was true that I was pregnant. My cousin also just asked me too. I’m honestly devastated and feel incredibly betrayed by my husband. I feel like everyone is going to find out and I’m so scared of my pregnancy not even working out. I have so much rage against my husband and i feel like i broke my best friends heart. Please give me advice.

Need Advice 7 Weeks 3 Days IVF Transfer

Wednesday we went to go get an ultrasound to see how the baby was growing. We were seven weeks, three days. We saw him more on this ultrasound than we did last week, so we were excited, but once the doctor measured him, they said he was measuring a week behind and his heart rate was at 87 beats per minute. and told us that we needed to prepare ourselves because he wasn’t going to make it. He didn’t give us any hope. Has anybody went through this before?

HCG after Beta1 and Emotions?

40F and just had my 11dpt5dt Beta 1 on Tuesday(10/20) and my Hcg is 347.5 and Progesterone 54! From my research and my doctor, things are looking great! I did pregnancy test before my lab work but i still cried when my RE called me with the news. Repeat will be on Friday! But for some reason, it hasn't really hit me that I'm pregnant. I'm excited and happy but it still feels like it's just another lab work to add to my list of labs that I've been doing these past 10 months, with it being our 3rd round of IVF/retrieval and our first FET (we finally got our 3 PGTA embryos the last/3rd retrieval--2 boys, 1 girl!). But i am struggling "feeling" pregnant. Not like the physical aspect of things but like the emotions of it. Did anyone feel like this??? I hope once i have my first ultrasound it'll feel more real???? Or maybe it'll feel more real if i start having pregnancy symptoms??? I don't know. I'm feeling kinda sad that I don't have that OMG overwhelming joy reaction. I hope I'm not the only one feeling like this. Its almost like I feel emotionless??? I love baby so much already but please tell me I'm not the only one who's felt/feeling like this.

How long will my butt be sore?

It’s been a whole, entire month since I got the ok to stop progesterone injections and I am STILL SORE. I can feel a couple small lumps still in there, too! My PIO was in sesame oil, if it makes a difference.

Content Warning 6th Oct was the day.

On the 6th Oct was FET day, I got that call we all so eagerly await, at 7:47am, and at 7:51am, before we said our goodbyes, she told me the grades of my remaining embabies after I asked her. I didn’t know the grades until then. I was shocked, because my thoughts of having any other good grades weren't possible, but they were, all 4, are good! I'm not sure why, but for some reason, knowing the grades, gave me comfort, a little reassurance at that moment, since birthing my 41wk old baby girl, 20wks ago, sleeping, I finally had a little bit of hope. I had been so anxious throughout the process of prepping for the FET, fear and dread I just couldn't shake, triggers because everything reminded me of her, the medication, the timings, even the exact same days, we did all of this, just 1 yr ago. But finally, for some unknown reason, on that day I felt a slight sense of calm, and as I said, hope. Maybe it was my angel looking down on me, telling me, everything is going to be ok.

On the 6th Oct, I transferred my darling daughter's sibling, and it stuck. Today, I am 5wks, the journey is just beginning again, and I am so protective and terrified already, it's unexplainable. But I have come so far, and I will continue to fight, so I, can finally bring home my baby, my rainbow I so desperately want.

I slept in 28°C under winter blanket on FET day😭 i thought its good but i read no😭i woke up extreamly sweating

The room was 28°C, and I was wearing tights and a T-shirt while sleeping under a thick winter blanket. I woke up sweating heavily because I was so hot. I thought keeping myself warm was a good thing after the embryo transfer, but I’ve just read that overheating can be harmful. 😭😭
Could I have harmed my embryo or affected my chances of implantation?

Need advice - Flying at 6 weeks post FET

I am just about to finish 6 weeks. I flew home (India) for my second fully medicated FET. This is the first time in my life I've gotten a positive and with twins. We moved to Europe last year and since we were comfortable and are close with the doctors in India (my mom is a OB-GYN) we decided to do the treatment here. I have now been back for two months and my husband had to fly back to Europe after our transfer. I really want to go back but super nervous about flying. Was thinking of traveling back for a month and then will fly back to India where I will be for all of December and Jan. My mom is being extra cautious and wants me to just stay here until I finish my first trimester but having just moved and also not having my husband around during this new and exciting time is tough :( any advice? I also will not be flying alone but it is a 10 hr + 1.5 hr flight back. Please help.

Besoin de conseils

I’m 12dp5dt after transferring a day-5 blastocyst using donor eggs and donor sperm. My beta hCG today was only 21.
I’ve experienced multiple pregnancy losses, and I’m devastated. I’m worried this may be another biochemical pregnancy.
Has anyone had such a low beta at 12dp5dt and gone on to have a successful pregnancy? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences

Need Advice Beta hell

After 3 years of trying, 3 failed IUIs, and 2 cancelled FET cycles, we finally transferred our Day-6 5AA euploid embryo on October 6. I was over the moon when my first beta came back at 318 at 9 dpt. For the first time in a long time, I allowed myself to feel genuinely happy and hopeful. Today at 13dpt, second beta came back at 679.1 exactly 4 days after the first.

Initially, my nurse sounded reassuring, but later called back because she had thought my betas were only 48 hours apart instead of 96 hours. Now they’ve scheduled a third beta in another 4 days. I’m feeling so many emotions right now. After everything we’ve been through, it’s heartbreaking to finally see those positive pregnancy tests and still feel so uncertain about what comes next. I am trying so hard to stay hopeful, but I’m terrified of losing this pregnancy. I know my hCG is rising, just slower than expected. Has anyone experienced a similar beta progression over 4 days and gone on to have a successful pregnancy?

I literally have an exam next week and I can’t concentrate on anything since I’ve heard this news.
