Need help identifying your dog? Here are some important tips to help you succeed.
What to include in your post:
Post clear, well-lit, full body pictures. At minimum, include:
- One standing side view (taken close enough to see coat texture)
- One frontal view
Tell us your dog’s age and weight (or best guess)
Other helpful information:
YOUNG PUPPIES may be impossible to identify. Head and body shape, coat color and coat pattern, eye color, and apparent coat texture can all change dramatically as a puppy matures. You might want to wait a few months before seeking an ID.
MIXED-BREED dogs can easily have many breeds in them, not just two. Keep in mind that some of the breeds in a mutt may not show in its looks; while in other cases the dog may really look like it has some particular breed in it, when in fact it doesn’t.
NO-BREED dogs exist too! Sometimes a mutt truly is “just a mutt” — the result of many, many generations of random mating between mutts, with no discernable inbred (purebred) genes its DNA. In the same way that YOU don't necessarily have any inbreeding (purebreeding) in your recent family tree, neither must a dog. They can simply be mutts — WHICH IS A GOOD THING!
Has your dog's breed been solved?
Once you're satisfied with your responses, please change your link flair to SOLVED. (Please don't make a post if your dog's breed is already solved/known)

Open Ringo was a stray and adopted by me
The shelter I adopted from said pitty hound mix or staffie hound mix. It’s very confusing. I see the hound but I want to read more opinions and such.
First photo is from the shelter. I have my own but they don’t really show his face quite well to observe anything.
The second is his side profile.
The third is just…him.
FYI: the rescue worker tied his leash to the seat because nobody knew if he was good with car rides, he was completely okay.
EDIT + CLARIFICATION: I’ve had a staffie before. Ringo’s breed, does NOT bother me, nor does it encourage me to give him up. I love any breed, and I especially love bully breeds. I should’ve worded things better

Open Any guesses on the breeds in my two boys, Thor & Loki?
These are my boys, Thor and Loki! They were dumped on our property about a year ago, and we're curious what breeds might be in their mix.
We highly suspect they're brothers, although we have no way to confirm that at the moment. Based on their teeth, behavior, and overall maturity, we'd estimate they're around 4 years old at most.
A few details:
- Location: Missouri, USA
- Thor: 46 lbs
- Loki: Estimated around 60 lbs (we haven't weighed him yet)
- Age: Estimated under 4 years old
- Possible breed mix: We're fairly confident there's some kind of pit bull–type breed in the mix, based on their head shape and build, but we're curious what else might be in there!
Their most noticeable traits:
- Extremely high prey drive. They'll lock onto something and intensely fixate on it, almost like a pointer, before giving chase. Once they're after something, they have incredible persistence.
- Very agile, with impressive jumping ability and powerful, athletic builds.
- High energy and endurance. These boys can GO.
- Very leggy compared with what you might expect from their overall build.
- They howl, and their vocalizations remind me most of hound-type dogs.
Their coats are obviously pretty distinctive, and I have my suspicions, but I'm especially curious what breeds or mixes would you guess for Thor and Loki?
*Will also add a clip of them howling in the comments*
Thanks in advance! 🐶

Freshly adopted girl
DNA test is OTW. Vet visit is booked. Excited to get to know her and get some meat on her bones! Shelter said boxer mix- I see it but can’t pin down the mix. Her legs are tall and she’s got quite the strut. I’m leaning towards a bit of a hound in her but would love some opinions while I eagerly wait for my results! I’ll post a follow up in the comments if photos are allowed there!

County Shelter Rescue. Any guesses on breed/mix??
We rescued/adopted this baby boy from the county shelter a month ago. He is now 7 months old (according to our vet) 40lbs and growing rapidly. (He's gained 13lbs in 30 days). He's a cuddle bug, kinda lazy but has bursts of crazy puppy energy, already spoiled and is starting to get very protective over our family. We are planning to do a DNA test but thought it would be fun to get others' opinions. When we are out people ask us what his breed is all the time. What do you guys think??

Catahoula x ?? (Australia)
Adopted Mya from the RSPCA day around 6 years ago. Rescue said she was found at Mount Isa with a litter of puppies and was a Catahoula cross. She definitely has the lean, and the smarts (wykyk).
Just wonder what the general consensus is. Were they right?
Included her adoption photo from when she was 13months old (time we adopted her).

Lance here was rescued from the streets in Bosnia and was then adopted by lucky me.
Would imagine he is mostly a balkan hound, but not sure. He is slightly smaller than a lab and weighs about 23kgs/50lbs

What breed is he?
We’ve been told mostly pointer with some other stuff mixed in, we’re going to get a DNA test but curious what the consensus is.

Open Had this sweet boy for two months. What mix is he?
He is around 8 months old and ~48 lbs. I'm guessing some type of hound and pit. What are your ideas?

Orivet results
Hey all!
This is my rescue Ruby, who is two next month.
Rescue listed her as a bull mastiff mix and I was never certain about the bull mastiff, but I was so certain she was some kind of mastiff mix. All of her traits and behaviours absolutely scream mastiff to me, so I was very shocked at these results.
Wasn’t surprised that pit is in there, but I never expected it to make up most of her mix. What’s your guys thoughts?

Foster puppy breeg guesses?
I know it's hard to tell when they're puppies. But any guesses for our foster dog? He's 12 weeks and 21 pounds (so he's going to be a big boy). The rescue said he's a shepherd mix - the last photo is him at 8 weeks with his littermates. He was pulled from a shelter in Alabama, USA (and available for adoption in the DC metro area 😊). Would love to hear what the crowd here thinks!

Please help! I have no idea what type of dog she is!!
This is my dog, Jewel. I’ve had her for about 10 years, got her from a family member. We have no papers on her, and we can’t figure out what type of dog she is. Based off first glance, I assumed maybe a jack Russell or redbone mix? She is definitely a mutt but i’m not sure what type. She is about 11 years old, i’ll put in photos of her today and when she was younger.

Was told she was a Doberman/pit mix. Not sure
This is Canela. About 6 month old now. A friend of mine asked if we could watch her.
He’s locked up now and I have her. He had told me she was a Doberman pit mix. I don’t see it. I will test her to see what she is soon. Any guesses? Thanks

Open Pointer mix? Lab? American pitbull terrier mix? Any1 has a twin and tested for DNA?
Hey all! Just found this sub reddit and would love to hear your guesses. Considering getting a DNA test. Odin is my 5 year old companion buddy, he loves running and playing fetch. He is 30kg for reference 😀
Been reading about a lot of "pointer mix" that have a lot of american pitbull terrier in them, and none of pointer. So i wondered could this be the case? Nothing against if so I love him regardless, just curious if anyone has a "twin" and had a DNA test done. Cheers

Possibly Solved My phenomenal dog-jouring, ball catching dog.
About 4 years... Was told by previous owner he was Australian Shepard and Pitbull mix but I think he's Catahoula Pitbull. I rescued him at about 10 months. VERY athletic, intelligent lovable and alpha. Loves to hunt for mice and lizards but rarely catches them (not because he can't!) he absolutely loves to pull me on my skateboard , FAST! Took time to socialize with other dogs but is great, especially smaller breeds. Very protective. Easily trained.. Velcro dog he goes everywhere I go. He loves to jump up in the air and catches things. Very talented and lovable. Leans when getting affection, very loud , deep bark.
Deep gold eyes and very very expressive . Smiles big and side-eyes me when he disagrees. Never seen any other dog like him. His name is AMMO!

Open What kind of dog is this?
My uncle has this dog and we don't know what her breed is. She's very hyper so we think she's some kind of herding dog. Specifically the black and white one, though an ID of the tan one wouldn't be bad either
