Art/Culture My Hong Kong memories, tattooed
I wanted a piece of Hong Kong, and decided to get this tattooed. Cha chaan tengs were my favorite part about the city - the milk tea, the French toast, and the whole experience

Travel Hong Kong Airport (HKG), Gates 201-230
If your boarding gate is between 201 and 230 at HKG, you'll need to ride a train 2 stops from Terminal 1. Easy enough but give yourself 20-30 minutes to get there.

Video How Hong Kong Built a Subway Money Machine
Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway is the most profitable transit system in the world. While subways tend to lose money everywhere else, the MTR funds its system through a real estate engine known as “land-value capture.” By directly integrating malls, offices and apartments into stations, the railway has created a self-funding loop that pays billions of dollars back to the government.
Now, the MTR is taking on a massive challenge: funding transport for the Northern Metropolis, a new tech hub aimed at better connecting Hong Kong with Mainland China. But as local real estate cools, construction costs soar and residents shift retail spending across the border to Shenzhen, the MTR is taking on record debt to fund the expansion. Will this ambitious project break the very rule that made Hong Kong’s transit a global marvel?

Questions/ Tips Taking taxis in HK with minimal Canto and some social anxiety?
In short, how will it go if I try to take taxis with minimal Canto and some social anxiety? Below is for more info if you want.
I was born in and grew up in HK. My family is from a different Asian country (not China), although I can somewhat pass as Chinese or HongKonger. My parents can speak Canto but I was never formally taught any. Canto is not spoken at all in my house, and my parents only use it when we're in public and need to talk to other HongKongers. The mindset of my parents is that I need to just "figure it out", but I've been going behind their backs recently to teach myself. Free resources online are very limited and language is not my strong suit.
I have a bit of social anxiety, even in English as my native language. I stutter/slur my words and speak quietly with a pretty messed up voice. I also lack a lot of practice in the languages I'm learning (including Canto) because I'm too anxious to talk to people (also I just can't really leave the house that much).
Specifically with taxis, I want to be able to take them confidently because maybe my parents will let me have the freedom to do stuff like go to the gym, walk in the park, go to the library, hang out with friends, come back from school by MTR, etc.. I'm also trying to get over the anxiety.
Especially, I would like to know if the taxi drivers will get upset or impatient. Also, if I would accidentally offend someone with poor phrasing and such.
Thank you a lot for any advice you can give!

Questions/ Tips Looking for fellow music fans of Brakence
Heyo, r/HongKong, I'm trying to find fellow Brakence fans to:
- mainly, travel with, to visit the just announced (last night!) upcoming tours in the US (Mar) (or the UK (May)), and/or;
- just fawn over the artist himself together
I've tried staking the ground in the artist's subreddit recently in a where are you from post, and have gotten 1 local friend, but I'm looking to see if I can get more HK-based friends by asking here directly for better visibility. Plus I haven't really tried travelling without family that far ever, so I guessed I'm a bit scared on that front. :P

Questions/ Tips Tell me your 2026 favorite restaurants serving HK style curry!
I know Tsui Wah and International Curry quality has declined over the years, but the curry flavor was still solid when I was last here in 2019. I'm now back in 2026 to find that both have moved/closed/rapidly changed.
Where can I find tasty, classic HK-style curry in 2026? Tell me all of your favorites!

Questions/ Tips Gyms in Wan Chai
I work in Wan Chai. I'm looking for a gym that I can go to lunchtime. Problem that most gyms have is that they don't have enough showers. Therefore, you have to spend half your lunch hour waiting in line for a shower.
Does anyone know of a gym round here that does not have that problem? I would really appreciate that!

Questions/ Tips Loud speaking/dictation friendly co-working in HK
Hi! I just moved to Hong Kong and am loving it.
One thing I miss about my last city, is that I had a great choice of many co-workings. I especially miss that my previous co-working had a "loud" floor. On this floor the idea is that you can take calls and have long conversations without moving to a call booth or a meeting room. (This is annoying for some people, but they are then welcome to move to the quieter floors.)
For me this "loud" setup works great as I spend practically the whole day transcribing my voice using a microphone as this is just much faster than typing. I have checked around and so far I did not find a co-working where this kind of thing would be allowed. Can anyone with experience here help or suggest a location? I am open to moving to any part of HK to be near such a workspace!

Questions/ Tips Have 1 day to fish in Hong Kong. Do it or waste of time.
Hi,
I have about 1 day to fish in Hong Kong and am considering shore jogging (heard you need permit for fresh water).
Can any locals recommend me a spot? Or would it be a waste of time as I only have 1 day.
TIA!

Questions/ Tips Watch Insurance in Hong Kong
Does anyone have any experience/recommendations re: getting your watches insured in HK? I have three watches each worth around HK$65,000 and my gf has one watch worth around HK$150,000. I have home and contents insurance but I doubt it would cover close to the value of these if they were stolen/lost. I live in my own apartment in a high rise in Mid-Levels, so burglary is a low risk and given how safe Hong Kong is robbery is also low risk. Should I not bother?
