progress/success Finished first grade math!

I’m at around a 4th-5th grade math level, but I decided to go through the whole thing over again from the beginning before I finally start public school for my junior year in 2027, and starting from the beginning would make it less overwhelming for me.

rant/vent The amount of people advocating for homeschool is horrifying

I know that the education system in the us is currently awful, but I don't think there's an excuse to taking them out of a degree, taking them out of social experiences, taking them out of seeing the real world to any extent.
Anyone that promotes homeschool in any way I can immediately tell has never had any association with it, because if they did they would immediately see how horrifying it is, and it makes me question supporting people like this even though he's extremely correct on everything else.

Like supporting a creator then realising they're transphobic... just upsetting...

does anyone else... I missed out on a lot

I was homeschooled my whole life, I had a sport that I did but all of my friends there saw me as their "second" friend not really a main friend. Their main friends were at school of course.

But anyway!

I feel like I missed out on a lot, like I always dropped anything I took interest in because my mom would scof at it and call it dumb, or if she wasn't interested then I shouldn't be interested.

I always wanted to get into gaming as a kid, I was only allowed to play Minecraft or Sims4 which I love playing... But I wanted to get into other games that I had seen YouTubers play. My mom said they were either too violent or would just say no because she said so.

I wish I had gotten into Nintendo stuff, all my peers now talk about the nostalgia of old Mario games and I have no idea wtf they're talking about, even though I know I would've loved playing them as a kid and those were part of my generation.

I watched some anime as a kid in secret but never knew how to get into it more.

Basically I feel like I got into some stuff but only at the surface level, because I could never go any deeper, I simply didn't know there was more to know.

Does anyone as an adult have this? Like knowing OF stuff but never actually knowing about anything?

rant/vent Struggling with depression because of online school

I’ve been doing online school for the past year, and I’ve completely lost all my motivation to do anything. I spend 99% of my time in my room doing nothing because I don’t have the energy to do stuff. I’m extremely behind on my school work and I don’t even enjoy doing any of my hobbies (playing guitar, drawing, etc) anymore, and I’m just completely lost on what I should do about this. I don’t have any friends or anybody I can talk to about this, so I’m hoping maybe you guys can help me out. Thank you in advance!

I know this would encourage cheating but like I would absolutely love to tutor somebody because I actually understand what's going on with the math

Genuinely just need help, if there’s a better subreddit you can direct me to for answers that would be helpful

Is this a legit highschool diploma? I’ve been told it is but it’s been rejected and now I’m not sure what to think or do. 9th and 10th were homeschooled. 11th and 12th were a private school

How has everyone been on this subreddit? Has anyone "attended" or remembers "The Beech School" in Redondo Beach, California? I am looking for information.

My mom based her curriculum from this school and used its "Principle's" legal knowledge to legally homeschool / private home school me in California. However; my transcripts say 'The Beech School" and Diploma says my mom's schools name. This has recently become a problem with the FAA and my job.

I found a single Facebook post mentioning the place back in 2007. However; they either closed or something. I can not find anything on the school's existence and this is now a problem.

Can anyone confirm the existence of "The Beech School" or better yet "attended" the place back in early 00's? Your help would be really appreciated.

I actually solved the above problem with my high school diploma many years ago. If you are based in California and you have a "homeschool" diploma; this how you prove you went to high school in the golden state. One; your parents were registered as a private high school and you prove their registration with the CA Department of Education. Two; you pass the GED (not CHPSE) and obtain 18 college credits either online or with one California's many community colleges.

Let's recover together...... this is absolutely ridiculous and should not be legal.

resource request/offer Looking For Structured Resources

I need help. I need to learn things from the beginning with a structured environment. But everything I’m seeing is either state based or requires you to have already gone to school. I was never enrolled, and I don’t have any history or anything filed on me.

I’ve tried Khan Academy, but I’ve gotten nowhere with it. Everything they explain is so rushed through, and I have no one to ask...

I can learn history, science, and English fairly easily. But I struggle so hard with math. It’s like hitting a brick wall for me. I’m barely past 2nd grade level, I just barely understand fractions and heavy math problems.

i just want an environment that forces me to work, and gives me good structure and good support. But I don’t know where to look. i am 18, and I don’t know if that helps or hinders my options. I’m willing to pay, and I’m open to either a GED or a diploma. Please help :(
