15yo's homelab
galleryI'm running a good handful of devices, 8 on tailscale. Ive been into a home server settup or a homelab for about 3 years now, and yet I still feel a bit behind. So I make this to be both a showcase but also as a question, what are some services I can run that I'm not already running? (If you have tips based around machine learning, please let me know, it all seems so interesting) heres a list of machines and what I have running right now.
Devices:
Lenovo thinkpad t470
Lenovo thinkpad x1 carbon (mobile node, my daily driver)
Lenovo g560
Lenovo thinkcentre M910s (64gb ddr4 ram, GTX 1660 super 6gb, Intel i7-7600)
Dell latitude e5430
MacBook air from 2011 (a1369, also not yet on tailscale)
Dell power edge T300 (64tb of storage)
Asus rog Zephyrs G14 2023 with 48gb ddr5 (my main pc/laptop)
Samsung Galaxy s25 ultra 512gb
Networking:
Cisco 1900 series router (forget the model number)
Cisco catalyst 3650 24 port POE switch
Cisco Meraki mr32 wireless AP (jail broken, running openwrt)
Homemade cat5e twisted pair
Things I'm currently running:
Jellyfin and Plex (Plex is unmainted, dont like it all too much)
Pihole
K8s
Headlamp
The ENTIRETY of the "servarr" stack
Filebrowser
A custom made 4 node "MAGI" from Neon Genesis Evangelion (I'm very proud of it, it was very hard to make for me since I'm not amazing at coding)
Ps, please ignore the wiring mess, I need to get a rack and a proper patch panel at some point..

Renovated our server room
galleryI had to post it one more time. I hope they’ll let it stay this time..
I really appreciate all the feedback I’ve received so far! ❤️

Beginner Here! Six node homelab rack for networking, security and local AI. Feedback welcome.
Built for learning networking, cybersecurity and local AI. It also runs a NAS, a remote workstation and a self-hosted AI agent. Specs are in the attached table.
- Netrack 42U cabinet, 2× Eaton 9PX1000 online UPS with staged auto-shutdown
- Old ProBook as a monitoring kiosk for UPS and fleet status
- Netgear GS324 unmanaged switch for now
- VM host moving into an NZXT H710 (the white box on top)
What I’d like opinions on:
- Cooling: four tower cases on fixed shelves behind a perforated door. Is front-to-top airflow enough under sustained GPU load, or will I need rackmount chassis or more fans?
- Local AI: how is ROCm on the 7900 XTX for day-to-day LLM serving? Would you add an NVIDIA card or stay on AMD?
- UPS: is staged shutdown across two 1 kVA units overkill or sensible at about 300 W total? How do you handle orderly shutdown across many hosts?
- Security lab isolation: how do you keep a malware or pentest lab separated from the rest of the network?
- Blind spots: what am I missing, such as backups, out-of-band access or monitoring?

Obsidian Graph View Animation Homelab Documentation Growing
I just found the obsidian graph view animation and i think it is the best thing. I can watch my home-lab documentation grow. Dose anyone watch this on repeat. ( Cool idea make this a wall paper animation )
A visual overview of my homelab: a four-node Proxmox VE cluster built from two Lenovo ThinkCentre M715q systems (AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 2400GE, 8 logical CPUs and about 14.6 GiB RAM each) and two ThinkCentre M700 systems (Intel Core i5-6500T, 4 logical CPUs and about 15.5 GiB RAM each). The cluster runs a mix of VMs and unprivileged LXC containers, including separate Docker hosts for media, books, and other self-hosted services.
Shared storage is provided by a TrueNAS SCALE server running on an AMD Ryzen 5 5500. Its pool has three two-disk mirror vdevs and 18.03 TiB usable, with 9.24 TiB available at this time. TrueNAS also provides storage for media, VM disks, and backups.

The Rebellion needs storage too | My printed all-in-one homelab
Hey my Homie-labbers,
Today I want to show you my new homelab I built myself. It's an all in one case with a Star Wars (Rebels) color theme. Print time was about 37hours and over 3kg of filament. Printed on a Bambu Lab H2S
It houses my main homelab server with:
NAS:
- 4 x 10TB SAS HDDs
- 2 x 4 TB SSD
- 4 Bay SAS Backplane
- PicoPSU
- ATX Breakoutboard
- Power on/off switch
Server:
- X99 Server Board with 8 RDIMM Slots + IPMI
- 1 x E5-2697A v4
- 128GB DDR4 2400 RDIMM ECC
- 1 x NVIDIA T400 (for Frigate)
- 1 x Broadcom LSI 9300-8i HBA card
- 1 x 1TB NVMe SSD
The case is one solid piece, but split into two compartments with connection slots between both parts. I added an E-Ink Display that constantly cycles through 9 different screens about my proxmox server and its health status.
Sure, there are some flaws that showed up after printing and building (the HDD Caddies pop up when they're seated in the backplane and hit the case, some walls are wobbly af), but it was fun designing and printing this case.

1k € used parts homelab will serve clients, do GenAI and maintain house services
Hello there! First post and thanks for having me!
I wanted to make the point you don’t need a lot of money to start serving your house and doing LLM work, my setup consist of two physical hosts:
An office PC from 2017 with proxmox doing all the frontend / backend work (docker and such)
An ex gaming pc with a 6900XT for inference and generative AI
It’s all from eBay Germany used and Facebook marketplace - total price 1000 EUR
As I speak it serves production applications for clients on iOS and Android, generates and produces books, papers, images and apps - maintains all the IoT of the house, security, network air gap, file sharing, backups (to a third host - not counted on the price) control plane for AI vm, and little k8s cluster
Idle proxmox box doing the basics: 40 w
Full Setup producing with the GPU: 700 w (in bursts, GPU is not online 24/7)
So what do you think guys? Good math here?
Cheers

It’s not the prettiest or the cleanest setup, but it’s been going strong for years!
The Gear:
Storage: 4-bay NAS
Compute: 1U Supermicro server
The Cluster: A mix of x86 and Arm64 Single Board Computers (SBCs)
The Software Stack:
Kubernetes: Running a hybrid cluster consisting of 1 Master and 5 Worker nodes.
Virtualization: Handling a few standalone VMs alongside the cluster.
