Felt like the art was kinda iffy on this one. Not sure if anyone else noticed but it seemed like they were having issues drawing Elzar's face at times. Other than that it was okay but not as impactful as the first issue.

Love the issue but not the art Elzar and Avar looks weird

Yeah when I first saw Avar in the preview for this comic I thought that she looks like Mary Fitzgerald from Netflix’s Selling Sunset I guess the artist is a huge fan of that show?

Definitely think that the convo between Avar and Elzar would have been best in novel format as well but I am fine with it. I haaaaaaate Elzar's unshaven look but it makes sense for his state of mind.
Forfive is the real hero here, being the braincell for Elzar who is obviously distressed and distraught over both Avar and Stellan. Did not expect Forfive to step up like he did. (And how much did Stellan talk to Forfive about Elzar anyway? 😂 omg)
Oh Avar - she was always set up as this gleaming perfect Jedi and everything came crashing down. I love that her first instinct wasn't to wallow or follow the recall but to fight and make up for her percieved failure.
This book really got me hyped for the novel. I really want to see how Avar fares in the OZ, especially after seeing her falter and then regain her resolve. Avar just hasn't been explored nearly enough in the novels and being able to read her thoughts, especially after dealing with the failure that was Starlight's fall will be interesting.

Could you elaborate on the conversation since we see that he told avar that he killed Chancey Yarrow?
Also this issue really feels like an issue 1 or an issue that may needed a spin off comic series following Avar adventuring behind enemy lines in Nihil Space after all the one-year gap is huge gap?

I think Elzar and Avar’s conversation would have been better served in book form, but that’s what fanfic is for in this case 😂
idk why I didnt think about FourFive being around but I’m glad he’s here! The way he’s standing in for Stellan is so so sad, man this series can’t stop hurting me 😭

I really liked Avar's side of the story. Her ending with fighting the Nihil and letting the galaxy know that the Jedi are still around is great. Was kinda disappointed about Elzar. He's my favorite High Republic character and he just didn't really do that much. He spends the whole issue creating this contraption to contact Avar just to say one word and then the thing breaks. Like I just don't see the point.
Was also disappointed that Avar barely reacted to Elzar telling her about Chancey. She kinda just leaves right after he says that. That should've really been a major conversation IMO.

Although to be fair I think the reason why Avar didn’t reacted was because she still blames herself for what happened to starlight beacon?

I will say I'm enjoying having characters shift in and out of comics. I do audiobooks only for the written stuff, so they all have a sort of voice and mannerism in my head as lil radio characters, but my love is comics and I love seeing someone like Avar explored here. There's a different vibe to her for sure.
Sorry, Marika Cresta, the line art is a lil wonky for the faces at times. I wonder if it's because there aren't celebrity models/well established faces for these characters that makes them harder to do. Cresta is really, really talented. This isn't normally an issue. Rushed deadline? I dunno, Cresta has beautiful art (and much of the book is just gorgeous, it's just their faces a few times).
I will also say that this one wasn't as mind-blowing as the first one which just went wild.

Totally agreed with the art in fact when I first saw Avar in the preview for this comic I thought that she looks like Mary Fitzgerald from Netflix’s Selling Sunset so I guess Marika Cresta is a huge fan of that show?

That faces theory doesn’t really line up when plenty other comic books don’t do this and have great art. It’s just plain bad comic art unfortunately

But they often frequent reference material. I'm curious why it's so odd here.

I love timeline stuff, so I loved this issue. These first two issues have been stellar

Which is one of my favourite things about this comic series when it actually shows dates as someone who loved to make chronologies and timelines especially that we learn that the Occlusion Zone was created in a week following the fall of starlight beacon meaning the epilogue from Fallen Star also takes place in that week?'
If i have one criticism for this series is that it is too short. I wish it was say 10-issues instead of four where we could seen moments that are going important in phase 3 such as Keeve Trennis granted the rank of Jedi master?

I was wondering the same thing about keeve. She went from knight to master in 1 year? Seems too quick.
I also wonder if master is being used as a title or as a teacher.
Knights have been called Master Jedi before

I love the inclusion of the Tythonic Resonator. Seems to be a portable version of the technology in the Tython seeing stone that Grogu uses to call Luke. The fact that it seemingly impacted Elzar even more so than becoming tired like Grogu is interesting.

I’m a little sad that the best part was the first 4 or so pages. Overall I liked it. I just didn’t want Elzar and Avar separated again so quickly.
But also I can’t figure out why Elzar wouldn’t just go with Avar. He’s been obsessed with being near her, how does he just let her go???

Kind of a random question, but does anyone know what ship Avar takes to venture into Nihil Space? I really like the design

Exactly I think this issue feel like an issue 1 or spin off issue of an entire series of Avar adventuring behind enemy lines in Nihil Space after all the one-year gap is huge gap?

This was not as strong as issue #1 or THR #1 from today. I felt the “filling in a year gap” structure hurt here, I wish Soule had spent more time on the conversation between Elzar and Avar and less on what happened once Avar was already in the OZ. Surprised we don’t see Porter at all here.
