Mystery A genealogy mystery: Hidden Lines
Hi all,
In the tornado of games released during Steam Next Fest, I launched the free demo of my debut game, Hidden Lines.
I've never created a game before and have been working on it for 18 months, learning Godot along the way. Not seldomly with my toddler in my lap. The game features over 150 hand-painted watercolor images and fourteen original piano compositions.
It's a genealogy mystery about searching for a parent you never knew. Through my work with a genealogy platform, I've come across hundreds of stories about people trying to understand where they came from. I wanted to explore some of those experiences in a new medium. You explore archives, DNA tests and family stories, meeting eccentric people who help, confuse and contradict each other. The emotional experience of genealogy is central, with a little dry humor along the way.
Regarding Hidden Objects: You search your parent's house for clues, you get to know people at a genealogy society and their archive, as well as the huge public archive, where lots of files hide among the shelves. The more dialogical "hidden objects" are in each conversation, as well as patterns in movement and DNA- traces. You are most welcome to have a look. I appreciate any feedback.
