I took some advice from Essy Notes on Insta/ YouTube. Essentially slowing down, practicing the fundamentals for each script type and focusing on the shapes that make up each letter. Grid paper definitely helps! I've been using this Emshoi grid paper that came in a 4 pack of notebooks and it's really good paper for sheening inks too
Essy Notes on insta/ YouTube has been helpful for print style. I ended up just looking up cursive tutorials on YouTube to refresh my memory and found a short showing the lowercase and another showing uppercase and followed each letter as best I could then spent time writing each letter again and again.
Switching up definitely helps. I've found that if I write all a's then b's etc I can't see much difference but if I write the alphabet out in full one letter at a time, I can see a difference in a few rows. Same with switching from upper case to lower case with each row. It feels less repetitive and seems to help my concentration and motivation.
I work in an office so I've been using the exercises as my screen breaks and doing a row or 2 every 20 minutes.
That’s some excellent progress, very legible and has a lot of character! Also congrats on being your family’s point penman for holiday cards lol, that’s me as well.
