Home Town Takeover (Canada)

I kept seeing on social media the new Home Town Takeover that is from Canada. It was to be on TV Sunday, October 25. I was waiting to watch it October 26 because Discovery+ allows you to watch shows the next day on streaming. I could not find it on the app. I then found out that it is not streaming on Discovery+ and airs on HGTV Canada and streams online via Citytv+ Canada. What are your thoughts about this since other HGTV shows are filmed in Canada?

I wish they would bring him back for a landscaping series as I really enjoyed his prior series and of course he's very easy to watch. : )

Does anyone actually like or love the Decorating Cents from the 90s, not the new one the 90s one OG one okay i have nothing against the new one is good, but anyone in their 30s or younger actually like or love it even i actually really love the 90s ones it has a nice slower pace. I like it

I know the TV series isn't Decorating Cents everyone's cup of tea or vibe at best & just downright horrible eyesore for some others; that sigh gets a lot of almost uncalled-for levels of hate & really rude jokes about others' homes, & that's coming from someone who loves to watch America's ugliest homes, but I do agree that in that HGTV series, not all of the homes are great-looking, even just

Truly ugly, in my opinion, but not all of them; some are just too out there & most are too dangerous to live in. But I'm here for the series Decorating Cents, not America's ugliest homes. I'll post my opinions about that later, after seeing how you all think about this post. Okay, I think some 90s/early 2000s home decorating styles can be cool and interesting, even, heaven forbid, for saying this,

tasteful. In my opinion, not all of it was good-looking; even kinda stupid, but I do think some of it is just too out there for me, & I think there's nothing wrong about it, but I kinda hate how there are many YouTubers & house decorating experts calling it stupid or just ugly & shows, no matter how hard they try, & yes, many of those people are likely millennials or Gen Z arguing over older shows for the lack of taste or too much of something, or it's just bad all around: bad ideas, bad designs ....

Too much color for the sake of color & the age-old comment that pale yellow walls look like pee or different versions of pee comments & too many patterns. I do see that point, but not all of them were bad or ugly just way too busy, in my opinion. But remove those patterns & it wouldn't be too bad; maybe pare down some of the patterns to keep the look & style & the hate or annoyed comments about something looking cheap or actually being cheap, but bad design ideas & it's so outdated & how we improved over the years since then. I'm not a boomer; I'm a younger millennial

who likes retro stuff or classical stuff, even weird, off-the-rails fashions & actual vintage things, like around 100 years old, & not calling something vintage because it's 10 or over 10 years old, but please understand I'm not against other millennials who love & prefer Paige & the many different ranges of Paige's black &, whites, & grays palettes in homes; in my opinion, done right, it can be great-looking, even though not all Paige's gray, black & white homes are bad, but it hurts

When I see shows like Decorating Cents get ripped apart for being of its time, I remember being born in the 90s & when I started to learn about home decorating in the late 90s & early 2000s. To this day, I was actually very, very young to start noticing that stuff, & I loved late 90s home styles, both the Decorating ideas not perfect but trying their best & even accepting the messy & learning

to love it for what it is & what it isn't, even when they wanted to look "perfect," & not every home is open-plan. Made some homes back then where very close to being open-plan, even having some extra walls around the area, but still manages to have some rooms apart from each other & still leave options like having big French doors with windows in them & used blinds that are made for those kinds of doors so the parent can still hear their kids or hear them but still get the extra

privacy they need it's not a totally Win win in some situations but it still counts but at least it's a 8/10 in ways for privacy okay before i forget are their any millennials or gen z who likes Decorating Cents out there because i feel honestly alone here in this opinion we do not talk about the hate at the 90s outdated we can even laugh about it if you find some of the shows designs that look bad but lets be kind about it or at least not bad mouth about to hell & back again their are some bad designs or just pieces of it's time i want be honest but be kind about it

you can leave links to videos you like from older shows like Decorating Cents & others tv shows of the 90s or older one i gotta warn I'm not a 80s girl for designs but it your taste & you can totally love it & maybe even bring up your older magazines names even name brands from back in the day or even modern ones even i heck even find odd interesting designs homes Decorating looks that aren't cookie cutter Decorating ideas that push it outside lets be to each other i mean it where are my people who are in 30s & 20s who like or love retro actually vintage like over 100s or depending on what it is 50s old & older & people who love modern home Decorating you tubers who push against the Paige & gray black & whit trends or put a twist with at least with it

& sidenote: just because I'm into 80s styles or some types of 80s house plans doesn't mean I don't like some 80s stuff, okay? Still like some things from the 80s; I like that the 80s didn't shy away from being creative & not saying sorry for it, but maybe I don't like the extra-big hair, or maybe I don't like the insane levels of patterns that they double down on. The 90s had their issues, like a lot of them, & I do know what it's like to live in the 90s & have seen homes with strong 70s/80s decorating still strong. I used to live in my grandma's very, very

old late-60s taller home for 14 years until two 2 years ago; up to this point in 2026, it was a mix of decades in different styles & just making do with what she still has mentally, but the base style was 70s/80s; I didn't live in those decades, but I grew up with a lot of that stuff: the reruns on TV, the jokes, & a lot of opinions of the 80s more then so the 70s & grow up watching a lot of 70s TV reruns & before that era was well okay a lot of those

inside jokes or a lot people telling me what it was like to live those eras are not completely lost on me when telling stories about them i even try tell them small things i renumber as a very small young child i still renumber or i understood to be important back then by connecting the dots of what i actually do renumber what i felt was interesting to me as a kid & as adult & what i understand into those small things that mattered to my older millennials & older generations & something are more or less it's honest 50/50 sorta lost on me

because i didn't grow up in those times like the 50s 60s 70 80s i didn't even grow up the same way as some millennials did in the 90s because was born into 90s & I'm aware that no one is attacking me here i just feel like once you say into something like say the 80s but still see why people love it or younger people who do love it or people me who like it enough to still like the charm of the 80s may still highly protective of it or give the age old because i hit a nerve by mistake or unless you lived in it you know of nothing of it period no acceptations ... but it's never that black & whites but i made this post before i wen to bed i want to cover anything else i forgot.

Shows like Gardening By The Yard & Restored

Does anyone know if there's current shows airing similar to those? I'm probably showing my age with Gardening By The Yard lol but I loved that show so much. I miss HGTV when it was less drama and more educational-ish. Also Restored is fun because Brett is truly just passionate about the history of designs and I love that, although I know it got moved to magnolia. Homegrown was another one I love (although on magnolia network bleh), and they didn't renew it for another season. I'm just looking for wholesome shows that actually make remodeling/landscaping look practical for the viewer, and educational. I also did enjoy Worst Yard on the Block

Opinions on Allison Victoria?

Watching Ugliest/Scariest Houses in America. On multiple seasons when Allison Victoria renovates the winning houses, why is EVERYTHING GREEN. She paints the outside green, the kitchen is green, the bathroom is green. Does anyone actually enjoy her design choices?

Worst Makeover Ever Spoiler

Does Alison know how to listen? They said they wanted Victorian and ended up with a mish made electric hellhole. Does she even know style other than green modern? Does she even know good victorion when she sees it? She should be replaced with someone who listens. That poor woman eyes almost fell out when she saw the ruins of her bedroom. And what young girl wants grandma blue flowers on her walls, was she really 80 years old kidding in a young girls body or did once again Alison Force her opinion on her?

The whole design ruined a perfectly beautiful old Victorian house and turn it trash. Shame on you HGTV!

Scariest House staging and props

Do the families get to keep all the furniture, decorations, and other items placed in their homes, or are those items just staging props that are removed once filming is over?

Home Town Canada

E: solved, confusion. Thanks reddit xoxoxoxoxo

My mother used to watch a lot of HGTV before the network change-over in Canada so it isn't in the cable packages anymore. Shes upset about that, because paying for a streaming service isn't something we want to do, on top of our cable subscription. She deeply misses the programming and had heard that one of her favorite shows, Home Town, is having a Canadian spin-off. Shes a huge fan. A diehard, as it were, of the original show. She wants to sub to CityTV+ just to be able to watch it.

I just looked into the show and its hosted by network veterans, The Bauemlers, but the show is a ***__sham__***. The entire catch about "Home Town" is that its Erin's actual home town. Why aren't the Bauemlers returning to Oakville and boosting the economy local to their origin story here in Ontario?

I’m rewatching the High Low Project (again) and I’m reminded how much I hate Sabrina Soto on this show. Am I just be grumpy or do other people find her annoying too?

And it’s only on this particular show too. She’s fine everywhere else. I just find her extremely annoying. She’s rude to Chris a lot of the time. She has overreacted maybe 100 times. She’s always acting like she has to assemble the rooms by herself even though we know she has people helping her. She spends a lot of the time messing around and doing nothing. She’s always trying to get stuff for free and I understand she’s joking but it’s still annoying. And then her random screaming is too much. I don’t understand why she thinks acting like a brat is ok.

Help finding HHI episode, guy prints/sells 3D figurines?

My wife claims 😀 that she saw a HHI episode that had a couple who moved overseas where the guy printed and sold 3d figurines. She recorded it, but it fell off the dvr before I could see it, and we have been unable to track it down. She doesn’t remember the location so that’s a big part of the search obviously. Anyone remember this episode and can add details to help track it down?

I just started watching 'Scariest house in America'

And I find it funny that they bring HGTVs biggest witch to do the renovations.

This reinforces my thought that she owes HGTV big money and she just has to do whatever show they tell her to do. Which is unfortunate, for me, because I just can't stand her.

And instead of making good shows with people the public enjoy or actual good designers with a plan (like Nate and Jeremiah) we are stuck with her being on every other show.

Windy City vs Sin City

My wife and I used to really enjoy watching Alison Victoria on Windy City Rehab. With our ties to Chicago and shared interest in renovation, we enjoyed seeing her transform homes and seemingly build a successful business.

Back then, she appeared to have an established operation, a recognizable niche in Chicago architecture, and a pipeline of ambitious projects with substantial profits. Watching Sin City Rehab recently, the impression was quite different: someone working to establish herself, secure partnerships, and prove her value again. From a viewer’s perspective, it feels like a decline from the position she once appeared to hold, even though television alone cannot tell us the full state of her business.

Some of that difference may also reflect how success was originally presented. Reporting showed that certain financial outcomes were considerably less impressive than the early episodes suggested. Combined with the permitting problems, homeowner lawsuits, and breakdown of her business partnership, it raises questions about how solid the operation was underneath the brand.

I understand that partnerships can go wrong, and I don’t pretend to know everything that happened behind the scenes. But when your name is on the business, accountability includes the people you choose, the finances you oversee, and the promises made to customers and investors. Her public explanations have left me wanting more acknowledgment of her own role.

I respect her persistence, and continuing to have a television platform is an accomplishment. But the contrast between her apparent position then and the rebuilding we see today is striking. To me, her story is a cautionary example of how visibility and confidence can outpace the business fundamentals needed to sustain success.
