Warrior Returning Player Seeking Build
About a week or two ago I returned to GW2 because I missed my friends from there. After talking with my friends for a day or two someone had mentioned how a Power Berserker was now a thing in the game. For the longest time I have wanted to play a Power Berserker, but they were a Condition Damaged based Elite Specialization when I last played (January of this year). As I've stated, I want to play a Power Berserker build, but for Open World PvE. I don't know exactly what I want out of the build outside of those two things. The last time I did any theorycrafting was 2013 - 2014, so I figured I'd come here for help. Any advice offered is appreciated.

There's really no reason you should be worrying about builds in open world, anything is viable. There is always a way to solo HoT Hero Points (the hardest thing in PVE imo) if that is your main concern, other than that, everything is doable with anything, Plus there are frequent HP runs throughout HoT maps if you are adamant with checking LFG from time to time. Some classes are just a lot more difficult to survive more than others and you'll just have to adjust according to your own immediate need. You should rather work towards building for raids. Playing in the open world should be a free pass to do whatever you want. There is no restriction.
Raid builds are all pretty much Zerk builds. The difference is perfected rotations which is what you need to learn for optimization. If you don't care about any of that, then just play as you go along. Whatever need comes up can be addressed with a simple switch of a utility skill.

I'm not really looking at doing raids for a while. My current goal is crafting a full set of Ascended gear. The Open World PvE is to help get the gold to fund it. I'm aware there are plenty of other builds more suited for Open World farming, but I enjoy warrior a lot since it was my first class.

That's good, I'd highly recommend that you never craft Ascended Gear, it costs way more and imo is a lot more boring, there are MANY ways of getting free drops. For ascended weapons I'd frequent Tequatl world boss. For Ascended armor I'd do Triple Trouble (Evolved Jungle Wurm world boss). The events are fun. Teq should be an easy access one. Event happens in Sparkfly Fen exactly on the daily reset (4pm pacific depending on daylight savings). Triple Trouble takes some getting used to but it is ran 3 times a day by guilds at Bloodtide Coast 1 hour after Tequatl but I'd show up at least 30 minutes before the event happens and I'd make sure to be in the main squad so that you aren't locked out of the map. Commanders will tell you exactly how to do the event, Crimson wurm is the easiest. Be sure to bookmark world boss event timers like this one: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Event_timers
These 2 events done once a day has given me most of my ascended gear but the easiest method of obtaining ascended is Ranked Pvp.
One win a day at the start of the season should net you the full ranked awards before the end of the season (Byzantium Chest), the reward you're looking for is the Grandmaster Marks. 3-4 of these can get a piece of Ascended gear (weapon or armor). This is a very good way to get familiar with a small section of the game and you get a lot of materials from the rewards. You can also learn more about your class beyond pve and with pvp specific gear, you don't have to worry about access, it is very easy to get into.
I hope all of this helps. There are so many fun and productive ways to get ascended gear which is why there is usually a consensus to NOT spend time crafting it.

I have a couple thousand hours as warrior. Theres a couple of routes you can go for open world but axe/axe is pretty much mandatory for the cleave. If you're going to try to stay alive and need range. Zerker with rifle is a great option. If you think you'll be fighting bosses i recommend axe/axe and mace/mace for cc.

Metabattle would offer you open pve builds, other sites are better for fractal and raid specific builds.
