Comparisons to Tokyo Game Show?
Has anyone been to Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom?
Would you say Gamescom is any better when it comes to vr actually being able to do anything?
We did TGS for the first time and it was impossible to do anything. People queued up outside the building at 5am, so all the demo tickets were taken within 10 minutes or so of the event being opened.
We even had priority tickets and had no chance.
The whole event itself was also so packed that you couldn’t really do much of anything apart from carry on walking with the crowd and take photos as you carried on walking.

Gamescom is better with it, later times for arrivals, also much better able to play games, indie has little to no wait time, bigger booths can have a few hours though, but you can atleast wait and actually play

That’s not too bad. Do they do the ticket system too or do you used queue up? What do you mean by later arrivals?

You have to queue up for just about everything. I think one or two shops from big booths (hoyo) used a ticket system where you could come back later but that's the only thing I can think of. Everything is queue based.

Ok cool. This weekend defo put us off doing any other shows similar to it but maybe Gamescom won’t be as bad. Were used to MCM London, so I’m already used to big crowds and busy events but TGS was a joke

If you go to gaming conventions to watch rather than play you'll have a much better time.

Gamescom makes MCM london look like a friendly gathering. GC is huge and has so many people. I love it a lot but just to warn you that its about 6x as large as MCM

Solution for that is to get press accreditation. At Tokyo Game Show there is not lot of media from west (North Amerika and Europe)... so its easier to get approved.
And than with time slots is easy + you are going during business days.

I also had priority tickets and got there late (9:05 am). Had to wait for a few minutes and was surprised that it still was this empty and I could queue for a lot of things. (saturday)

I had super low expectations for TGS, but I got there by 9, was in at 10, got to play the game I wanted that said the line is 90 minutes but only waited an hour. Looked at cool stuff, got some cool free goodies, saw cool cosplayers and it was crowded but not as bad as I feared. So it was a success for me.
