So I started as a keyholder a few weeks ago and I am hoping for some advice.
Let me preface this with, I am not use to working retail. I worked for raven for 8 years working on various Activision IPs, mostly COD. Left in 2018 to work at epic on fortnite. Then my son was born special needs so I stepped away from AAA and have survived on indie projects ive been lucky to work on. But the industry is a mess right now. Its been a decade since I ran a game store and it wasnt corporate like this
Recently money got tight and I decided I needed to do something so gamestop it is. Overall I don't hate it. 3 of my coworkers are the really solid to work with and joke around with, genuinely cool people. the issues are the 4th coworker and the focus on numbers numbers numbers.
How do you deal with getting stuck with shifts with one of the laziest people you've ever met, and having to keep up with the online orders, distro, phone, customers. It seems like alot.
The other thing I want advice on is warranty pitching. I find selling warranty on controllers is really easy cause the fear of stick drift, but today for example I sold a new ps5 and they didnt even want to hear the word warranty. My pro membership numbers are fine, trade and preorders are fine. Its just warranty im struggling with. And noone gets warranty on the games. Please help cause I want more hours but I gotta get the numbers up.
