How does the roommate process work?
do you know who your roommate is before you meet them? or do people make group chats then go based off that to choose a roommate?

Hey Rams,
I wanted to get some feedback regarding two rules I'm considering adding in response to new trends in the content on this sub.
1. No posts speculating about financial aid situations.
There has been a huge increase in posts in recent years regarding financial aid. I understand that it's a massive part of the college decision-making process, but the vast majority of these posts get little to no engagement. This is because the financial aid process is opaque – aid package sizes differ from year to year, institution to institution, and person to person. Similarly, what one person considers to be "good" aid might not be enough to another person. We can also safely expect that no one from the Fordham financial aid office is lurking on this sub and handing out the guidelines for merit aid.
It's very difficult for anyone to give another person financial advice without knowing a lot of personal details like how much their parents make and are willing to contribute, which is information that should generally not be shared publicly.
Because the financial aid situation varies so wildly, I'd like to implement a ban specifically on posts asking for speculation about an individual's financial aid package size, whether it's good/bad, or how much to expect in appeal. For example, this ban would cover posts like "Is $35k good?" and "Is Fordham generous with aid?"
This ban would not cover posts comparing a package at one institution vs another (like "$10k at Fordham vs $5k at Fairfield?") or posts asking about when to expect aid packages/appeal, when the first payment is due, or other logistical questions. Those are easier for people to answer and get more responses anyway.
2. A ban on AI-generated content farming.
This issue just arose in the last day or two. Shoutout to u/ArchAuthor for bringing this to my attention. There were two posts on back-to-back days by separate accounts asking questions about the student experience at Fordham in an overly wordy, AI-generated content way. Looking into the accounts, I noticed that they each only had two comments on posts and the comments were identical – "I agree" and "interesing" on 8+ year-old accounts. These accounts are clearly farming information for some type of aggregate service.
I'm going to leave this post up for a few days before implementing any rules changes. Let me know if you have any recommendations.

Use this for general questions, celebrating, introducing yourself, venting, anything relating to admissions now that decisions are coming out

Hi I need to take an ENGL 2000 course. I’m a junior I just transferred to Fordham. I commute to RH but I’d be open to taking a class at LC if it’s worth it.
I hate writing super long essays. I don’t mind reading as long as it’s not an excruciatingly boring book/subject.
Any recommendations for classes or professors? Thanks!🙂

Has anyone studied abroad as a senior (or know anyone who did?)
If so, why did you? And was it worth it?
I'm transferred in last semester and I'm currently a junior and my only shot at going abroad would be next fall, senior year.
Its a once in a lifetime experience and I really don't want to regret not doing it but at the same time would there be anything bad about doing it my senior year?
For context I want to work in the fashion industry in PR and I'm a communications major. Would I be giving up opportunities to intern/gain experience in nyc? I'm also a commuter that lives in nyc.
Thank you so much

Hello!
I am a current junior who is interested in being an RA but I have a few questions before I commit to the process ;;
I do plan on going to an information session but I also want input from fordham community members
How much is the stipend actually? I'm only finding info that they provide a stipend but I need to know if it's enough to last for the academic year or if I need to look into part-time jobs as well
Are meal plans included in the RA package if I don't get an apartment style dorm?
I plan on getting my masters at Fordham too and saw that graduate students can also be RAs. Are they limited to only being RAs in the graduate housing?
Any extra input on RAs would be helpful! I couldn't find a lot of recent, detailed info
Thanks in advance!

I'm going to be doing a 3-month internship at the Rose Hill campus and was wondering if anyone has any insight on where to look for housing, areas to avoid or focus my search on, and any leads on sublets! TIA

I'm a high school senior and Fordham is one of my top options rn and my plan would be to major in marketing and minor in fashion studies. I'm definitely a more high strung person and I don't want to be stuck with a straight up fashion degree that might limit my opportunities or earning in the future so I haven't even really thought about applying to FIT or Parsons or anything. As I've begun to be more serious about thinking about my future, I don't really have much passion for any industries other than fashion and styling and whatnot, but at the same time I don't want to pigeonhole myself into an industry thats I feel like is harder to succeed in than something like straight business.
Basically I'm wondering if the NYC location and fashion studies minor would be enough to set me up to work my way into the world of fashion in terms of fashion marketing and whatnot or if I might just have to live with a bit more of a boring life than I imagine for myself? Idk lmk if anyone has any insight on if Fordham to the fashion world is a viable option

I’m a national merit semifinalist with an act score to back it up (35). doing early action.
a) does this virtually guarantee admission, given my essay and transcript are solid? i’ve heard different things from different people
b) I know fordham brags about their huge scholarship packages for national merit students, but how many applicants actually get it? Do they just give out 1 or 2?

Hi everyone! I’m currently a sophomore at community college, and I’m hoping to transfer to Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business to study Finance. Honestly, Fordham is the main school I want to attend, so I’ve been pretty nervous about the whole process.
I submitted my application for spring admission this past Wednesday. At the open house this past weekend, I was told that decisions usually take around two weeks or possibly less to come out.
I’m making this post because I’m anxious about my chances and would love to hear from anyone who has applied to Fordham as a transfer student. I’d especially love to hear from students who transferred from a community college, but I’m open to hearing about anyone’s experience!
What were your stats (GPA, credits, etc.)? When did you apply, and how long did it take to receive your decision? Did you get accepted, rejected, or waitlisted?
Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
Hey everyone! I’m currently a community college student planning to transfer to Fordham in Fall 2027 to major in Finance.
I’d love to hear about your experiences at Gabelli, especially regarding recruiting opportunities for investment banking, internships, social life, and the overall student experience.
How’s Fordham for transfer students? What are the biggest pros and cons? Would you recommend it?
I’d appreciate any honest opinions from current students or alumni.
Thanks!

Hi! I am planning to apply for the MS Media Management program for Fall 2027, and I wanted to hear from students/alumni about their experience or take on the program. Are the professors and courses of great quality?
Crucially, how are the job prospects after? I’m also an international student (who did her bachelors in the US), so I want to know if it is a good program for job placements/sponsorship as a non-citizen? How did that go? Any comments or feedback on the program would be super helpful!

I'm a senior applying to Fordham ea and I want to do Marketing as my concentration. I am a big city-life person and don't care too much for the traditional college campus, but I saw people saying that the social life at LC is not great and that it's a bit difficult to make friends, so I was wondering how true this actually is, and if it was a dealbreaker for anyone that maybe transferred to RH.
Also, I wanted to know if the business school is truly the same for both campuses and if there are any significant differences or opportunities I would miss out on by choosing one or the other.

hi fordham students, im a senior about to apply, but as i was at the open house this past weekend i counted literally two black students on campus throughout the whole day. i was there from 7:45 am to 3:30 pm. is it generally like this? is there a campus that has a higher population of black ppl?
i enjoyed the school a lot regardless, but just wondering!! its different to just look at the numbers vs hear from actual students :)

Hi! I’m applying to Fordham Lincoln Center majoring in political science. Will I get in with an uw gpa of a 3.85, w 4.125, 12 aps (submitting 8) and I’m going test optional. My ecs are very average, I have ~40 volunteer hours at a local library and animal shelter, I did mock trial and speech/debate for 3 years (no leadership but a few basic awards), I tutor once a week after school, and work ~25 hours a week. I am also in a few clubs in school that do not relate to my major.
