Discussion View Count Suddenly Going Crazy

Hey guys,

Over the last few days, I've noticed that nearly every item I list is getting 5-7 views within seconds of being listed.

That's weird for me because I specialize in rare books, and most of my items are super-niche titles. I've never had views that quickly on anything until this started. And now it's every item I list...

Basically, wondering if anyone else is seeing this or has heard anything about it...

So nice of them to label which boxes have gold and silver! And a totally normal way to store vintage LV posters laying perfectly out on a bean bag.

Someone is about to get boxes of old socks.

eBay Advice on Potential eBay Refund

Thumbnail

I sold this item on 9/23 and the buyer received delivery on 9/28. They then reached out on 10/15 stating there was a potential issue with the item. I offer a refund on the item if returned, to which they replied asking for troubleshooting. I am just starting out in flipping items and not looking to play repair technician. There was no reply to the refund offer. The buyer reached out again 11 days later requesting a refund.

My question is on best practice for handling this issue. I feel I did the right thing by offering and immediate refund. We are now 29 days past him receiving the item. He offered to return or discard. I absolutely will have him return and pay the shipping before refunding. Should I just ignore this and let him go through eBay after the 30 day mark of him receiving? Or, is it better to issue the refund than risk poor feedback?

Since I am new at this and trying to build some side income, is it worth keeping the ~$60 or just issue the refund and keep my rating?

***EDIT***

This was one of the first items I purchased for flipping. Was trying to get an idea of what sells and doesn't and navigate my way through flipping. Lesson learned in purchasing items I can verify more easily.

Would appreciate help on the issue stated above, opposed to opinions on what I should and shouldn't be selling. Thanks for the help.

Discussion Listing expensive items

Hi, fairly new to reselling (started in May). I've recently got a haul of some valuable items that include testing equipment, some pricey Hot Toys marvel figurines, new in box 2021 mac computer, and additional items. Before this the most expensive items I sold were $300 plumbing fixtures. Any advice for selling items that are $1000+ ?

Do I need to worry about ebay flagging my account if my small store (100 items) suddenly posts 10 items worth over $1000?

Whatever you want to know about flipping, no matter the question, ask here. Even if it's been covered 1,000 times before. Doesn't matter if you're new or old. If you stop learning things, you're probably on your way out.

This is an extremely newb-friendly thread. As such, any rudeness is to be reported.

Advanced Question What skills do reselling foster and how could they be relevant in the Job Market?

I've been an ebay seller since 2020 but my sales have dried up to the point that I need to go back to work after 6 years of self employment. For the sake of the discussion I have only worked low skill labor jobs prior to this. I definitely did a lot to build up and maintain my business but I don't know exactly how those skills would translate to employment qualifications. I feel like I've learned a lot of random things like inventory management, tech repair, shoe cleaning, product research, photography, etc.

Discussion Slow sales??

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced slower sales this month, particularly over the past week. I am new to flipping, so maybe this is normal. I usually get at least 1 sale per day, and on good days, maybe 2-3, but I haven't gotten a sale in the past week. This is through 3 channels (eBay, Poshmark, and Mercari), total of 600 listed.

Tip Always research the estate sale company. Fraud in Boston.

I always hated going to their sales. Everything was always overpriced and just not worth it. I didn’t realize I could’ve been supporting a criminal enterprise.

eBay Ebay guy, “shame on you!”

I’m selling a booster box on Ebay. It’s in the original packaging and unopened, but clearly wasn’t handled well. The box has some dents and the packaging is dirty, but everything is intact. The packs of cards are undamaged. I took clear pictures of every angle of the box to show the condition and noted the damage in the description. I looked it up and From what I understand, it is considered new despite the damage. This guy has been messaging me this morning telling me I’m misleading people because I categorized it as new and he’s mad it’s not in right off the shelf condition. Don’t even know why he’s messaging me at all, he’s not even bidding on it. Plus, I set the bid super low so buyers can determine the value of it themselves. Gonna see how he responds to my last message then block him if he’s being an ass.

Edit: Just for clarification, there is no “New with defects” option on Ebay for sealed card boxes. Woukd have picked that if there was one. There was new and used. Looked it up and it’s considered new, so I made sure to add the damage in the description and made very clear photos. Leaving it up to the bidders what it’s value is, they can clearly see what the condition is.

Discussion Is buying liquidation truckloads still worth it in 2026?

For people who have been doing liquidation for a while, do you still think full truckloads are worth getting into? I keep seeing people talk about pallets and bin stores, but I am more interested in the actual wholesale side of it. The part that makes me hesitate is that it seems like you need a pretty solid operation before a truckload makes sense. Storage, sorting, testing, freight, listing everything and then actually moving the inventory. Would you recommend starting with truckloads, or building up from smaller quantities first?

eBay eBay carrier scan

Hi. Whatever I mail typically gets scanned 2 days after I mail it. It is messing up my eBay metrics and eBay thinks I’m late in shipping when I mail next day or same day. What do I do? I moved from Connecticut where everything was scanned by usps same day. Now in Florida they are lazy with the scans!!

Discussion Facebook marketplace tool

I’ve tried or looked into a bunch of these tools like Marketplace Monitor, Swoopa, IVY Flip, and MarketFlip/Flipify, but none of them list pricing upfront and most are way too expensive. I found one I actually like, but before I drop $100 on a subscription I want to make sure I’m not missing anything. All I really care about is getting instant alerts as soon as an item is listed matching my price criteria, whether it's an app or a site. Are there any other good ones worth testing before I pay up, or what are you guys using right now?

Discussion PLC’s, Servomotors, CNC’s

Does anyone buy and sell PLC’s, Servomotors, CNC’s etc? I’ve come to find there is a big need in the automation and electrical control Industry for replacing obsolete parts and reducing down time when a machine is down. I thought this would be a very niche business to be able to supply needed equipment & parts.

Advanced Question How to settle a return from a bad buyer's address?

Just got an official USPS Address Unknown returned package for an eBay sale. It's a big apartment complex and the buyer says that Amazon doesn't have a problem delivering and he still wants the item. How's the best way to settle up this transaction?

I think he mostly speaks Spanish so there's a bit of a communication issue.

eBay Are there any video game councils you refuse to sell on eBay?

Like there’s some consoles that I’ve played and I just don’t know if I’d risk selling them on eBay like a PS3 for example I bought a PS3 once and it seemed to work fine when I tested that the guy’s house but after I got home and put like destiny it loaded really slow and then I bought a brand new PS3 and it worked fine

So it’s like the one console I don’t know if I’d sell.. are there any consoles that you think have maybe too many issues to test out that you wouldn’t put on eBay?

I also prob wouldn’t sell a ps5 or switch 2

eBay Account suspended from ebay for "raising serious security concerns" - the only thing I did was buy an item

Thumbnail

A few hours ago I received an email from ebay saying that my account got "permanently suspended" because my activity has "raised serious security concerns". The account is fairly new mind you, about a week old, and pretty much the only thing I've done with this account was buy an item (a graphics card if I have to specify). The seller has over 2500 reviews, of which 100% are positive, and I paid for it in full, both the stated value of the item and the shipping fees. I paid for it using paypal, and I also have the tracking number. I have no idea what kind of activity caused the ban as I haven't really used my account other than buying (and again, paying for) the item I ended up buying. On top of that, there seems to be no actual way to reach out to an actual agent, since every help & support link is pointing towards a chatting bot, which was barely helpful. Guess my account is forever gone, but I thought I'd post here anyways in case I'm not the only one with such an issue (or there are others with similar cases).

TL:DR: I bought an item from ebay a couple days ago and now I've received a notification from ebay saying my account is permanently suspended stating a pretty vague description

  • The seller I bought my item from has 100% positive feedback and a lot of reviews (over 2500). He's also sold many other items before the one I got
  • I paid for the item IN FULL, both the asking price of it and the shipping fees, using paypal
  • I do have the tracking number for the parcel
  • My ebay account is about a week old
  • The only kind of help & support channel available through ebay regarding the topic is a chat bot, which isn't helpful as it doesn't help me reach an actual human to at least get an idea of what did I do wrong

The only thing I can currently thing of as being remotely suspicious is the email account linked to my ebay one, which is from proton. I've seen another case before where proton emails are not accepted for some reason, and that's vrchat.

Either way, I think my account is gone for good, but here are a couple of screenshots of my suspension messages from the ebay inbox (yes, I already checked that, the notifications came from ebay itself, they're sadly legit) showing the actual emails I received from them

I thought going inside the unit was a big no no. I've been seeing several lockerfox listings with the images deep inside the units. Makes me hesitant to bid.

Discussion Sellers: when a buyer refuses delivery and the carrier damages the return, every cost lands on you

Learned this from a phone sale on Swappa (payments run through PayPal): the buyer refused delivery, and the carrier damaged the phone on the way back to me. If you sell on any marketplace, these are the risks that only become visible when something goes wrong:

**1. A refused delivery becomes your problem.** The package comes back to you. If it's damaged in transit, you now hold a damaged item *and* owe the buyer a refund at the same time.

**2. You front the shipping cost.** The label money is spent whether or not the sale completes. If the item comes back damaged, any recovery — of the item's value, and at best the postage — comes only through your own insurance claim, if approved, after photos, paperwork, and waiting. No insurance means no recovery at all. And insurance never covers payment fees.

**3. Making the buyer whole costs you the payment fee.** PayPal does not return its processing fee (3.49% + $0.49) on refunds. On a $600–$700 phone, that's roughly $20–$26 that nobody reimburses — not PayPal, not the marketplace, not insurance. The seller absorbs it.

**4. The refund itself has a trap.** In PayPal, typing in a refund amount — even the exact amount you received — makes it a *partial* refund, and the marketplace's fee may not reverse fully. The clean path is the unedited full refund. Fixing it afterwards is a mess.

**5. Don't count on "seller protection" or platform support for this.** A refused delivery plus carrier damage fell outside seller protection in my case, and when I asked the platform how the remaining fees should be handled, I was pointed to PayPal.

**PayPal fee: yours. Shipping cost: yours. Damage to your item: yours.**

Practical takeaways: insure for full value, photograph and video your packing, think hard about which carrier you trust with high-value items, and price in the fee risk before you list. When a shipment goes bad, the residual loss lands on the seller.

Discussion Label printer for a small business?

I've been using a regular printer for my shipping label since I started, but I am getting tired of cutting paper and dealing with the whole set up every time I have a few orders to pack.

I'm doing around 10-20 shipments a week now, so I'm thinking it's probably time to get a 4x6 thermal printer. I've been looking at Rollo, MUNBYN and Arrvel, but I am having a heart time figuring out what actually matters when you are running a small operation.

I'm not worried about having a tone of features. I mostly want something that's reliable, doesn't waste a bunch of labels, and is easy to use when I am packing several orders at once. I'm also curious whether the ongoing cost of labels is noticeably different between brands.

Fascinating Story OMG it finally happened - estate company literally started comping with his phone from ebay at the checkout

I can't believe it. This is a proper company with franchises and multiple locations. I had a pile of old tools, kitchen items, all the perfumes I could find in the bathroom.

He was trying to get me to pay full ebay prices for everything. Old staple gun? $3. Holiday card? $2. Coffee mug? 5$. WTF. I said, I would do like $1 each. He looked confused.

I tried for a moment, even separated out the vintage perfumes I actually wanted to buy. He just couldn't wrap his head around me not wanting to pay full ebay prices. "But this (super low str Yardley miniature) goes for $12 on ebay!"

I just said "I think you should sell this to someone else, best of luck today!" and walked out. Oh well, at least I had fun picking for 30 min and didn't spend any money.

His partner was wrangling the crowd. I spent over $100 with her 2 weeks ago when she was running checkout. Sometimes I wonder if they end the day surrounded by all the things they refused to make a deal on and reconsider.
