Final Fantasy General Who is the George Martin of Final Fantasy?
For those who don't understand the reference. Someone who's usually behind the curtain and doesn't get talked about as often, but had a major role in the series.

FF VII To this day, 2 years later, I still constantly think about this interview
Have we gotten any closer to figuring out what he meant by this? Does he mean physical strength or were his words lost in translation and meant to be taken more metaphorically (I know the quote in the second image hints towards the former, but that’s just the interpretation of the poster and not the interviewer nor Hamaguchi)? Maybe both? And most importantly, will we get to see Tifa’s iconically over-the-top suplex in Revelations? It’s a staple of the series at this point, ever since FF6, so if not I’ll be incredibly disappointed.

FF VI What's the best way to play Final Fantasy 6?
My brother and I were suddenly interested in playing Final Fantasy 6, but I'm unsure which version of the thing is the "best" so to speak. I've heard of three versions: the SNES version (FF3), the GBA version with Color and Sound patches (FF6A), and the Steam release (I THINK the "Pixel Remaster"). Of the three, I don't know which of them is preferable to the other two, especially as a newcomer to the franchise or games' systems.
EDIT: It turns out there's another version that I already own: The Steam Port of the Mobile Version (the one where everything is smudgy and the buttons are all massive).
EDIT2: Okay, so I just fundamentally asked the wrong question. Obviously the Pixel Remaster would be one of the best versions of the game, but I also can't get my hands on it. I'm going to have to ask the more accurate question in another thread, I hope that doesn't count as spam.

Final Fantasy General Something I noticed recently...
With the success of Resonance, I'm seeing some saying that FF is back and etc, and some (loud minority) even saying that FF is only good if it's completely turn based.
Just wanted to drop something here:
ATB system, the one used by almost half of the series, is not Turn Based, it's definitely a Hybrid, but also definitely not turn based.
Just funny how most people has this weird misconception about the franchise... we have less turn based games than Hybrid ones.

Resonance Resonance deserves it's success & more afterward
I'm moreso a nuanced person when it comes to discussing modern final fantasy, I love it but also hold a lot of criticisms toward specific games. Resonance, while not being the first fanservice-ridden self-love letter to the series, is one as charming IMO as 9. It references & nods to all parts of the franchise while also being able to believebly sit next to the OG pixel games. Whereas 16 continues taking the mechanics to different places, Resonance brings back turn based that half of us have been begging for - its story isnt as cinematic & emotionally taxing as 16s but is entertaining & really invokes a cheesy 90s adventure storyline, with these tropey characters that aren't going to get video essays dissecting their psyche anytime soon but are endearing enough to get you fully invested in them as party members with other factors like design & kits
I just started chapter 5, & while i agree the voice acting + writing can be a miss sometimes & gave me a little emotional whiplash here & there, I think it succeeds in what its trying to do - which i think is emulate a 90s anime fantasy adventure with some modern production, with unusually charismatic characters & an epsidodic storytelling structure that treats every chapter like a totally separate storyline while keeping an overarching goal in view to keep us coming back every Saturday morning; not to mention i think it just genuinley gets some things right despite having SATAM cartoon-style pacing issues in Olderin & Zoldaad. I find myself caring about this games story the more I play it, whereas prior to the halfway point of chapter 3 the gameplay loop & music where the main things that I fell in love with instantly. I'm not bored, & i honestly am a little fatigued of overly drawn out, excessively bloated scripts in RPGs ive experienced recently, so having a game go full on SNES levels of simplistic writing that gets straight to the point (to a fault sometimes) is honestly refreshing for me. The voice acting is not consistent, but there are some really good performances in here that I feel are getting skimmed over right now in favor of highlighting the more awkward or "cringe" moments.
The gameplay is kinda perfect if you ask me, the visions acting as both kit extensions to the party but also their own character in the vein of demons from SMT makes the game feel like Final Fantasy x Mario Kart Double Dash. It's comfort food for turn based gamers in it's most delicious form, & i dont think it'll excite you if you dont care about final fantasy being turn based again, it succeeds at its gameplay loop to a similar degree of the pixel remasters. My only complaint is that, on normal difficulty the game has felt a bit too easy until the final boss of chapter 4. Part of me could stroke my ego & say I'm just really adept at final fantasy, but im pretty sure the game just overpowers us a bit needlessly. Also dont appreciate the rather hand-holdy nature of the map markers. Why set up an exploration quest for carbuncle if you give me a giant ping for every single spot described in the riddle? I actually wanted the promise of getting lost trying to study the map to find these locations, only for it to hand it to me as soon as possible. This wouldn't be a heavy complaint for me if the option to turn off pings or the mini map as a whole (PERMANENTLY) existed. Just feels like the game has promise of good exploration that gets spoiled a bit with those obvious location markers
OVERALL: I think i love this game more than 16. I enjoy it more than 14, & I was way more excited for this than anything regarding FF7R; I want this game to succeed & remind square that there is an audience for this era of Final Fantasy, or just the style of turn based RPGs in general. As opposed to wanting 17 to be turn based (though i would flip out if that happens), my biggest hope for Resonance is that it's successful enough to get a sequel game to expand on the story, which from what I hear gets REALLY good in Brave Exvius in events past this games story arc. It's not a perfect game & stumbles in some areas that other modern FF gets right, but i also think it shines brighter than what we've been getting the last few years for the things that make it stick out

Resonance Final Fantasy Resonance
Pro tip to get the Resonance rapid fire trophy!
When you come to the place where you meet King Gil Snapper, make sure you have the resonance that will heal him, like electricity, fire, wind, water etc. Just break his stance, go defense until you can use the resonance. Heal him and do it all over again. Just a tip.

FF XII Ff12 is one of the best imo
Loved the game inside and out and really exhausted every mission and side quest.. but the music is really top tier. I don’t tink this game receives the love it deserves. Truly a whimsical masterpiece. That’s it 😇

Resonance 1000 stagger & 400 Resonance Guide (Resonance)
Hi all, just wrapped up my platinum with the last 2 trophies I needed and thought I'd share my method for getting to 1000 staggers and 400 resonance uses. Now, some of you may hit this before finishing the game and kudos to you! I did not. I cancelled resonances before I knew there would be a trophy.
This was my method, there might be better but this worked fantastic for me.
The location: Island east of Dragon Maw (the one you have to go through the Maw to get to)
The target: Gigantuar (not the metal one, green boi)
We're only bringing 2 dudes with us, Lasswell and Nichol.
Required: Barrage on both (Noctis MR9 skill) - this is a guaranteed 4x hit. Using on both will stagger every round.
Visions:
Leah on Nichol
Tronn on Lasswell
The abilities I used:
Restore MP on Stagger
Half MP Cost
Restore MP on critical hit
This setup is going to keep us in a mana regeneration loop and we'll never lose mana.
The gameplay loop:
Regular Round:
Barrage from both Nichol & Lasswell. This will stagger Gigantuar.
Bonus Round:
Lasswell Defend
Nichol Curaga on Gigantuar
Leah Resonance
And then, you rinse and repeat until done. You don't ever have to leave the fight, the achievements will pop mid fight, so once you initiate the fight, you can go until you get it. You can animation skip the resonance and it still counts.
Now go get your plats!

Resonance I think SE will take the wrong lesson from FFR
I am about 20 hours in ans enjoying my time with it. It has a lot of flaws I think people are glossing over because its a return to turn based combat. That being said, it's a fun and well made game, a solid 7/10
My fear is that the game has reportedly sold only 400k copies. This is far below any modern FF. Now there is a caveat to this, the cost of the game. It obviously cost way less to make and market than Rebirth or FFXVI, therefore it needs to sell less to be a profitable success. I think there is a high chance this game is doing really well on its profit margins and is likely to be one of the most profitable FF games in a hot minute. That caveat aside, 400k isnt impressive sales. Most fans want the mainline games to go back to turn based. I think between the profitability of the game combined with the smaller sales SE are gonna take the wrong message from this game.
Rather than think the fans want turn based mainline FF again, they are going to thing low cost turn based FF is the way to go. I am concerned this won't lead to the mainline, high budget a lot of the community wants and instead think this is going to lead to a slew of 2D-HD turn based FF games. Call me a cynical, but SE have proven time and time again that they take the wrong messages from fans

Resonance Heads up for Final Fantasy Resonance: It will spoil major plot points/twists of the other games in the series - but becausethose have no bearing on the Resonance story, you can skip those parts and still fully enjoy it.
Final Fantasy Resonance is so far a phenomenal game and I recommend it for everyone. It'll be especially great for people who are already big fans of the series, particularly the earlier games.
That said, for those who care about spoilers and have games in the series they haven't played yet, Resonance does a TL;DR summary of every numbered game in the series when you find their respective Visions - it's brief and it's from the respective characters POV, but it is nonetheless spoilers that gives away major plot points and twists along with a ton of little video clips to go with it.
Don't let this stop you from playing the game!
If you're worried about spoilers, you can skip these scenes - they have no actual bearing on the Resonance story whatsoever, so you don't miss ANYTHING by skipping them. Just keep pressing the skip button (hold touch pad on PS5, not sure for other platforms) for each segment. The questions the game asks you during each of these vision unlocks makes no difference so you don't have to worry about those either.
Just one example of how they do it with Final Fantasy IV spoilers (major spoilers ahead):
When unlocking Cecil, the game tells you that he casts away his Dark Knight role to seek redemption as a Paladin, that the mage Golbez is his brother, and that the party goes to the moon to defeat the true evil Zemus- these are three of the biggest plot points of FFIV.
As someone who has played every game in the series, this doesn't affect me at all, but I know there are people who may be entering the series with this or haven't tried certain eras of the game yet that might care about this. It really hit me that this *could* be a problem for people when I got to the FFIV one, since that's my favorite game of all time.
GO ENJOY RESONANCE THOUGH <3

FF VI How do I play FF6 on 3DS?
(I hope I'm allowed to ask a question like this)
So my brother asked me if I could get him FF6. His only console is a Jailbroken 3DS, so I tried to look for ways to emulate the game on the thing. I immediately ran into hiccups. My first attempts were through Twilight Menu ++. I tried to run the SNES version of the thing, but there was excessive audio-clipping and the text of the Opening Crawl was cut-off at the top. I then tried to patch a version of FF6A on the GBA to have the Colors and Music patches, but that just wouldn't boot. So IDK if I'm doing anything wrong, or if TM++ is just the wrong application to play these games. I was low-key considering Injecting them to Virtual Console (as these games aren't available on VC normally), but I don't know if those will run well if I do so or if there will be further problems. So I'm asking y'all for advice: If you emulate FF6 on your Nintendo 3DS handhelds: Which version do you play (SNES vs GBA), and how do you run the thing (VC or Emu Application)?

Resonance Brave Exvius to Resonance Changes Spoiler
As someone who played FFBE when it was around, here are some plot changes I noticed in Resonance:
The term Veritas is not mentioned at all anywhere; they replaced the names of the Sworn Six with the Latin translation of their associated elements.
Edit: looks like they do use Veritas in their introductions, but I’m not sure if they do again after.
- No Diabolos, Lakshmi, nor Tetra Sylphid espers. I’m assuming that this is to not double up on elemental espers. In FFBE, Leviathan was only acquired in Season 2, while Siren was the season 1 water esper.
- Sol was already a sociopath before his imprisonment, having lost his emotions due to the same process that causes his appearance and powers. In resonance, his change is due purely to his imprisonment.
- Behemoth K lost his K, so he’s no longer a king :(.
- When Raegan disguises himself as Gelidus in FFBE, he freezes everyone in Duggle village, which doesn’t happen in Resonance. I’m guessing they cut this since it’s out of character for him to do such a malicious act.
- The season 2 hook at the end is gone. Originally, Rain has one final clash with Sol and they are sent through the portal into Paladia. This sets up the motivation for the party finding a way through it to save Rain. Since this is no longer the case, I wonder how they might setup the events of Season 2 in a sequel to Resonance.
That’s all I noticed, but feel free to leave your own observations in the comments!

Resonance Resonance finally arrives
Well it finally showed up today so getting a late start, but it feels like it was worth the wait! This thing is massive.
