New Theory! Theory: FROM plays like a Once Upon a Time curse story

Something has been nagging me about FROM, and I think I finally know what it is. It runs on fairy-tale curse logic, the same kind Once Upon a Time used.

The creative overlap is real. Jeff Pinkner and Jack Bender, FROM's showrunner and director, were core creative leaders on LOST. Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who created and wrote Once Upon a Time, were also key writers and producers on LOST. Both shows come out of the same storytelling school.

Once Upon a Time ran on a few simple rules: all magic has a price, a dark curse traps people in a loop, people get cast into inherited roles, and the curse breaks only when the original sin is undone. Here is how FROM could fit.

The bargain. The founders of the town made a pact with an ancient entity, maybe the Man in Yellow, and paid by sacrificing their children, the Anghkooey children. Like every good dark fairy tale, the deal was twisted. They got immortality, but as hollow monsters with frozen, smiling faces.

The pocket realm. Like Storybrooke, the town is sealed off. The fallen tree and the crows act like a town line, talismans work like wards, and the Faraway Trees work like portals. When the captives get close to breaking the story, the town responds with collapses and storms, almost like a warden keeping order.

The cast. New arrivals may not be random. Tabitha could be the Savior and mother figure, Victor and Ethan the believers who treat the place like a story, and Boyd the protector who learns force can't break a curse. Julie could be the traveler piecing together earlier cycles that failed.

The twist. Tabitha waking up in a hospital echoes OUAT's "Land Without Magic" turn. In OUAT, leaving didn't end the curse, and the savior had to return with knowledge.

If this holds, FROM can't end by killing monsters or escaping. It ends when the original sin is acknowledged and the sacrificed children get the ending they were denied.

I could be wrong. Watch OUAT season 1, episode 1 and tell me whether the parallels hold up for you. What does this theory miss?

New Theory! Title: Is Earth-1127 actually Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man universe?

Look at these two images. The first one shows the TVA screen with only three universe lines remaining: 616, 828 and the X-Men universe (10005).

What if the other universes have already been destroyed, and this is setting up something big for Avengers: Doomsday?

Now look at the second image. It shows Earth-1127. What if Marvel intentionally changed the universe number to hide Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man? Fans usually associate Earth-96283 with the Raimi movies, so using 1127 could be a way to keep his return a surprise.

Maybe Tobey’s universe is connected to this multiverse crisis, and Marvel is deliberately keeping its identity a mystery until Doomsday.

I’m not saying this is confirmed, but the two images together are interesting. What if Earth-1127 is Tobey’s universe, and Marvel is hiding it in plain sight?

New Theory! THE ULTIMATE RECONCILIATION: The Creator's Intervention Finale Theory

What if the timeline didn't just fracture, but completely broke the patience of the ultimate Creator?

Here is my separate, definitive theory for how the cosmic mess of AHS 13 actually wraps up. It’s not Mallory or Cordelia who fixes this. It’s an eviction notice from the top.

A DEVIL OF A GOOD TIME?

⚡ The Cosmic Breaking Point

Just as Mallory is trying to force yet another time reset and Mr. Nas is pushing back to derail it, the universe reaches its absolute snapping point.

The screen erupts with blinding electricity and glowing hands. A woman's voice echoes through the chaos, freezing everything in its tracks.

The Creator has officially entered the chat.

⏳ The Judgment of Mr. Nas

"Enough!"

The sudden burst of blinding electricity freezes the room, but there is no divine figure walking through the door. The Creator has no physical form—she doesn’t need to fit into any specific shape. It is just the Voice, disembodied, massive, and echoing from everywhere at once.

Both Mallory and Mr. Nas look straight off-screen, their faces frozen in complete awe, confusion, and a creeping, slight fright. The sheer weight of the unseen presence is terrifying.

The Voice tsks loudly at them. "I sat back and gave you a chance to prove me wrong," she says, her tone cutting through the silence directed toward Mr. Nas. "But you just had to reach into the universe and bleed it dry. Look at this timeline and all the others you added. People are not acting like themselves; personalities have gotten diluted and convoluted." There is a short, heavy pause.

"YOU," the Creator ligts up Mr. Nas, "put a hellmouth into an historic landmark. And don't get me started on the mess you made of those women's lives just to, you claim, put me in my place," she continues. "It's time you went back to yours."

Mr. Nas opens his mouth to speak, but the Voice instantly silences him, stripping away his momentum and forcefully preparing to banish him out of her sight forever.

A sound of pure, ancient exhaustion colors the Voice. "There's free will, Lucy, and then there's whatever ALL of that was."

"It was a legal wager!" he screams, desperate and furious, his shadow elongating and turning a violent, angry crimson. "I had every right—" "You have no rights here anymore," she interrupts calmly. Before he can take another breath, she forcefully returns him straight back to his domain. With a sharp, effortless snap echoing from the air itself, his physical form breaks apart into a quiet pile of ashes, and a single lazy trail of white smoke rises into the stillness. There is no baby form left behind. He is completely gone.

🌅 The Reset & The Voiceover

With the disruptive force banished, Mallory’s memory is instantly wiped, resetting her to a peaceful baseline. The camera pans over a beautifully renewed Coven. People and spirits alike are seamlessly shifted back into their proper, original places, exactly where they belong in the universe.

As the camera glides over this corrected, ordinary reality, her disembodied voiceover narrates directly to the audience one last time: "Season 14 is a new ball game, kids. Tell your friends and whoever ran away this season that it won't be necessary to watch the last 13 seasons to enjoy the next one. You never know, my dears, if the TV gods are willing and we have a 16th season, something from seasons 1 to 7 MAY make an appearance. No promises, though. See you on the flip side."

🎬 The Final Frame

The classic American Horror Story theme song blares out, dominant and jarring, as the screen cuts to pitch black. Right as the music peaks, a final, distinct laugh echoes out—starting light and amused, before twisting into something deeply eerie, though not sinister.

The end. The 13th season, the loop, and the show are completely finished.

Theory Video Suggestion Dan and Phil ARG

So Famous YouTubers Dan and Phil have this craft channel that seems to be an ARG- to my knowledge no one has looked into it yet. I think it would be really cool if we could solve the mystery of the Dan and Phil Crafts arg. All of the videos start out with craft videos and slowly morph into lore driven horror. It seems Dan and Phil are both in some sort of cult and stuck in the containment of some psychiatric facility where they make craft videos? It’s really really interesting and a super short series so it’s not a long watch. Theres another upload every few years with the first one being 11 years ago and the most recent being 2 years ago. There seems to be an installment every few years. Hopefully we can start to solve where the ARG is going by the time a new episode comes out!!

New Theory! Hear Me Out...

Eggman Inc. from toy story is a major company. In TS1, we can quite clearly see that the company that the Davis family used for moving is called Eggman Moving. However, in TS5, we're supposed to believe that Eggman produces educational toys. This could set up some really interesting plotlines in the future, if my theory that Eggman is a major company in this world. Let me know what you think, and if you have other connections!

New Theory! Why Marty hates being called chicken in the BTTF sequels.

Forgive me if someone else thought of this, but i couldn't find a post about it.

A common critique of Back to the Future sequels is Marty's flaw of not wanting to be called chicken came out of nowhere.

in BTTF1 he never shows this flaw, his flaw there is a fear of rejection (which comes from his father, and in the original screenplay is slightly more expanded upon) but in the sequels its a fear of people thinking he's a chicken. They kind of cancel themselves out of you think about it

I recently got the Back to the Future annotated screenplay, which has a lot of extra details. Bob Gale doesn't talk about this specifically but on the question of what happened to the Marty from 1985 after Marty changed George's future, Gale suggests maybe Marty would slowly absorb the memories of the alternative Marty.

Which made me think, maybe that explains the sudden character flaw about him being called chicken.

See George was a chicken in 1955 but because of Marty's interference he stood up for himself, found the confidence he needed to be a stronger man. Growing up with a dad like that, I'm sure Marty would hear "don't be afraid, have confidence" maybe even his dad getting frustrated and saying "don't be a chicken." When ever marty was too scared to do something.

So Marty slowly absorbed his new childhood memories after he got back to the future and replaced the rejection fear with the chicken fear, where now he over compensates whenever anyone suggests he might be fearful.

Theory Video Suggestion Is there enough slavic repersentation in media?

I've realized that there are barely any slavic characters in western media and the few that there are, are either evil or highly stereotypical. After a LOT of thinking ive only remebered of 3 slavic characters one is Katarina Petrova from the vampire diaries who is evil. Next is Viktor Krum from Harry Potter who gets 2 lines and is a stereotypical representation of slavic men. The only good one I could remember is Viktor from Arcane (altough I haven't finished Arcane so dont come at me if he becomes evil or sum). I think he is a good repersention since he doesnt follow stereotypes he actually goes against them having a disability and being a researcher. He also has a accent which I personally LOVE when a character has since it shows that the actor/voice actor cared enough to practice that accent and its even better if they are proud of it. I would really LOVE in film theory could make a video about this since I think this problem needs more recognition

Theory Video Suggestion Carrie (2026): The Judge, the Accuser and the Tempter

Post image
4 Upvotes

The theory in one paragraph

Under its King-universe surface, season 1 of Carrie (2026) is staged as a Judgment Day story. Carrie is a judge in the making. Her father Ralph taught her to steer by the stars, and he returns to dust. Margaret works as the Accuser (the ha-satan of Job and Zechariah): she builds the case against the town while staying publicly blameless. Emaline is the Tempter: she offers Carrie godhood and the world, then takes the wheel at prom. Chris is the humanity on trial, shadowed by Billy, a companion who turns her wishes into acts so she has to own them. The show keeps all of this deniable on purpose, so it reads as plain drama on a first viewing.

How to read this with the CSV

Every claim below cites an episode and timestamp you can find in carrie-2026-evidences.csv (111 rows, available on github). Each row is rated against four readings: Biblical, Folklore, King/Dark Tower and Plain drama. Each row is also marked as Kept, Changed or New against King's 1974 novel.

How the evidence was tested

The log was built bottom-up and kept neutral, so it could prove the theory wrong. It did, more than once (see Misses).

  1. Sources. Subtitle files for all eight episodes, plus a scene-by-scene rewatch for what is shown and never said.
  2. Four readings per item. Each item is rated Strong, Plausible or Weak as Biblical, Folklore, King/Dark Tower and Plain drama. A plain reading is always considered.
  3. Against the novel. Material Kept from King's book counts as neutral. Changed and New material is where a new lens should show, if there is one.
  4. Three tests for the biblical layer.
    1. Who carries it. Is the biblical material carried by more than the religious mother? Pass: Emaline, Adelaide, the manager, the crowd and the soundtrack carry it too.
    2. Where it sits. Does it cluster in Changed or New material? Pass.
    3. Do roles hold. Does each character keep the same role from episode to episode? Pass for Margaret, Emaline and Billy (reframed). Weak for Ralph as a planner.

The cast, mapped

Three roles hold across the whole season: the Accuser, the Tempter and the companion. Two are suggestive but partial. Strength is the overall Biblical rating across that character's rows in the CSV.

Character Role in this reading Strength Key moments (episode, time)
Margaret The Accuser: tests Carrie by the letter of scripture, prosecutes the town, stays blameless Strong E1 08:29 "Test her"; E1 08:58 "demure for the judge"; E4 32:49 "face my accuser"; E6 32:32 mediation; E6 45:07 public apology; E6 47:22 stoning
Emaline The Tempter: offers godhood and the world, then possesses Strong E5 43:04 "You have all the power"; E5 42:33 "Snake Eyes"; E8 09:26 "Let me take the wheel"; E8 19:32 "I exist"; E8 43:08 "You're a god… it belongs to you"
Carrie The judge in the making: star-guided, isolated, then possessed at the moment of judgment Plausible E3 34:00 stars; E3 37:56 "Found my way home"; E6 29:12 and E7 21:14 in Ralph's chair
Billy Chris's companion (qarin, a bound jinn) who makes her wishes real so she must own them Plausible E4 19:27 brick, "If you tell me to"; E5 31:01 lizard; E7 47:33 the drop; E8 16:42 Chris turns the wheel
Chris Humanity on trial: stripped of everything, unsure of her own motives, choosing mercy too late Plausible E3 43:28; E6 39:19 "I don't know"; E8 16:42; E8 18:40 the unfinished apology
Ralph Adam of dust: guide by the stars, returned to ash; his words live on in Margaret Plausible as a symbol, weak as a planner E4 13:20 turns to ash; E4 37:41 the trench; E6 30:33 his only speech; E8 31:50 in the sky
Adelaide A rival authority that puts its own will in place of God's Plausible E8 39:17 "Thy will" answered with "My will"
Tommy The good man, who points out the stars and dies seeing them Weak to plausible E1 25:39; E3 34:53; E8 09:01 "The stars."
Sue Eve's lineage Dropped Lacks evidence
Stella Carrie's guardian angel Dropped Lacks evidence

The ten best exhibits

These are the moments where the wording or the staging is specific enough that a plain reading leaves something unexplained. All ten are New or Changed relative to the novel.

1. "I have a right to face my accuser" (E4 32:49).
Margaret has spread gossip about her manager by denying it.
The manager, fired, says the word "accuser" while Margaret watches, relieved.
The role is named out loud by someone else.

2. "You're a god… it belongs to you… the whole thing" (E8 43:08).
Emaline shows Carrie the world and gives it to her.
This is the serpent's promise ("ye shall be as gods", Genesis 3:5) and the devil showing Jesus "all the kingdoms of the world" (Matthew 4:8–9).

3. "Let me take the wheel" (E8 09:26).
At prom Emaline takes over and a shadow stands behind Carrie, crowned and blood-red in a ring of fire and stars.
This is the biggest change from the book: the killing is no longer simply Carrie's.

4. "Thy will be done" answered with "My will, Margaret" (E8 39:17).
Adelaide stops Margaret's heart while Margaret prays the Lord's Prayer.
In the novel Carrie stops her mother's heart.
The inversion echoes the five "I will"s of Isaiah 14:13–14, the morning-star passage.

5. The mediation as a courtroom, then the stoning (E6 32:32 to 47:22).
Two sides, officials between them, a witness.
Margaret refuses a private apology and demands one to "the whole country", smiles when Chris breaks, and the crowd stones Chris.

6. "Say it: I exist" (E8 19:32).
Emaline makes Carrie claim existence itself, echoing God's self-naming "I AM" (Exodus 3:14).
Then she dances around her like a faun.

7. Ralph turns to ash (E4 13:20).
As the letter about his cremains is read, Carrie sees him in his chair and he falls to ash while the kitchen shakes.
"Dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return" (Genesis 3:19), shown not said.

8. The stars and the way home (E3 34:00 and 37:56).
Carrie says her father taught her to find her way home by the stars.
That night she tells his empty chair "Found my way home".
Tommy dies whispering "The stars" (E8 09:01).

9. The brick and the wheel (E4 19:27 and E8 16:42).
Billy holds a brick over traffic: "If you tell me to. Dare me." Chris says "Do it".
In E8 he drives at Carrie the way Chris's anger has pointed all season, and this time Chris turns the wheel.

10. "Snake Eyes" introduces Emaline (E5 42:33).
As Emaline whispers "You have all the power", the song plays "you can't hide your snake eyes… fall to your knees" (compare Matthew 4:9, "fall down and worship me").

How it connects: the season as one story

Read in order, the season is one movement: a judge is formed, a case is built, a tempter takes the judge's hand, and the verdict falls on a town that is never allowed to finish repenting.

(GRAPH: Every force in the season converges on Carrie, the judge)

  1. The judge is formed (E1–E4). Ralph, the father of dust, teaches Carrie to steer by the stars, then dies buried in a trench and returns as ash and as a guide. Margaret raises Carrie on the letter of scripture ("Test her", the closet, "penitence sets its own clock"), and she is "demure for the judge" in public. Her talk of poisoned water and fake diagnoses is Ralph's own script, carried on after his death.
  2. The case is built (E4–E6). Margaret shows her method first on her manager: an accusation spread by denying it. Then she turns it on the town. She names Chris at the school board, prosecutes at the mediation and demands a public apology to the whole country. The town answers by stoning Chris. Margaret never lies: She uses the truth to set people off.
  3. The tempter moves in (E2–E8). Emaline offers what Margaret withholds: "You have all the power", "you took control", "You're a god".
  4. Humanity is tested (E3–E8). Chris loses everything piece by piece and can't say why she does what she does. Billy, her companion, carries her wishes out (the brick, the bucket) until, in the car, she finally refuses. She turns the wheel and starts to apologise.
  5. The verdict (E8). At prom Emaline takes the wheel. The town burns and the stars fall. Chris dies before her apology is finished, so the judgment leaves no room for repentance. Adelaide kills the Accuser by putting "My will" in place of "Thy will". Emaline gives Carrie the world.

The pattern the show hides in plain sight is that Carrie is never the only one acting.
Every act of judgment passes through someone else's hands: Margaret's case, Billy's obedience, Emaline's wheel.

What didn't hold up

The theory lost several branches under testing. They're listed here so nobody has to find them for us.

  • Sue as Eve's lineage: dropped. The trophy that started it reads "2nd best LOSER" (E4 15:51), not "second to last". It's a character joke.
  • Billy as guardian angel: reframed. He protects Chris from harm (the lizard, E5 31:01) but never from sin, and he carries the blood bucket (E7 40:25). A bound companion or tester fits. A guardian angel doesn't.
  • Stella as Carrie's guardian angel: too thin. She appears twice after E1, last to tell Carrie to evacuate.
  • Margaret as Lilith: dropped early. It doesn't fit, and it narrowed a role that the season keeps open.
  • Ralph as the planner of an isolation scheme: unsupported. He's on screen only as a memory and a ghost. In his one flashback (E6 30:33) he talks like a conspiracy theorist, not a prophet.
  • Visual stretches: set aside. Mars as the morning star (that's Venus), wounds where wings were (E8 25:15), Billy's "angelic" look, the three dots in the sky (E8 31:50) and the recap's shape (E6 00:18).

The strongest objection

The King-universe reading explains most of the same scenes without any scripture. That's why this theory only claims the layer where the wording itself is biblical.

  • Emaline as a recruiter. Doctor Sleep's True Knot recruits gifted kids. One of its members is called Snakebite Andi, and its leader, Rose the Hat, astral-projects, as Emaline does. Her threshold rule fits King's psychic vampires.
  • Adelaide and the "Others". A Shop-style agency, "shine" and the TK gene (E8 36:19) cover her completely on King's terms.
  • Margaret as plain drama. A controlling, grieving, religious mother turned parents'-rights activist explains her behaviour scene by scene.
  • Flanagan's habits. He uses scripture constantly (Midnight Mass is built on Revelation), so echoes could be texture rather than code.

Our answer is that these readings sit side by side rather than compete. The King reading explains who these people are. It doesn't explain why Emaline's pitch quotes Genesis and Matthew, why Adelaide inverts the Lord's Prayer, or why the word "accuser" lands on Margaret's scene. Those choices are New, specific and consistent.

Predictions for season 2

If the theory is right, a second season should keep these patterns. If it breaks most of them, the theory was reading too much into season 1.

  1. Emaline keeps offering, not ordering. She tempts with power, freedom and "the world". She never simply commands Carrie, and her offers keep echoing Genesis 3 or Matthew 4.
  2. The judgment moves from fire toward stones or a wider world. Season 1 ended with a town by fire. The next judgment is larger and keeps the "fire and stones" vocabulary (falling debris, stones, stars).
  3. Adelaide's side defines itself by its own will. Her group justifies itself with control and "gifts", not with God. Expect another inversion of a prayer or a scripture.
  4. Ralph returns as a guide, not a ghost story. If he reappears, it's to point Carrie somewhere ("find your way home"), and stars or sky come with him.
  5. A new Chris figure gets a companion like Billy. Someone else on trial gets a helper who makes their wishes real and forces the choice.

JUST A FILM THEORY

But what would you say?
Does any of this makes any sense?

New Theory! Backrooms is about Nostalgia and how we “glorify” it

“The more it remembers, the less it does” Does that not remind you of yourself when you play one of your favourite childhood games and realise it’s not as good as it used to be? Or when you try your favourite food after months of not having it? Or when you see someone you haven’t met in years?

This feeling is slowly taking a grip of your mind and making you wish for things that do not exist anymore until you end up with nothing left for yourself in the future.

The Backrooms is this emotion but personified into a living and breathing space.

Theory Video Suggestion A couple 90s animated gems for the Theorists

DID THE BOTS MASTER PREDICT THE PRESENT DAY?
Bots Master is a largely forgotten animated series that ran from 1993 to 1994. It follows robotics genius Ziv "ZZ" Zulander as he attempts to take down the evil RM Corporation before they can fully take over the world. RM Corp has a monopoly on the robotics industry in that world, and they intend to accomplish their takeover with a free upgrade program that gives them remote backdoors into the robots they sell. The show was apparently set in the year 2025. In 2025 IRL, we don't have quite as many robots, but we do have a lot of ubiquitous technology. That technology is largely controlled by a small handful of mega-corporations. Many real-life software updates give this corporations more control over our tech. Think Windows 11. The show also draws a line between the narrow AI of the RM Corp's robots and the more general AI of ZZ's BOYZZ robots. Further into the series, the Corp actually seeks to make "thinking bots," i.e. AGI. Unfortunately, just as the Corp found a way to create their own AGI, the show was canceled and faded into obscurity.

DID REBOOT TRY TO WARN US ABOUT THE WEB?
My next idea involves ReBoot, which isn't quite as obscure as Bots Master. I actually watched through this show twice this year. Partway through the second season, the concept of the Web was introduced. It starts when a pair of Binomes talk about how the Web seems to be "spreading" to more and more systems. At the time that episode aired, the World Wide Web was just *starting* to go mainstream. I think I saw my first ad for AOL the same year that Season 2 of ReBoot aired.

In ReBoot, the Web is extremely dangerous to the citizens of Mainframe (and any other system). It's a world of data and energy so dense that one Binome likened it to traveling through an "invisible lead soup." Sprites from the Net who end up in the Web slowly start degrading until they resemble the horrific Web Creatures native to the Web. In real life, there are many stories of the negative effects of excessive internet use, especially on kids. Maybe that wasn't as true for the Web in 1995, but, over 3 decades later, it certainly seems to be.

Film Theory Video Discussion Women in the film industry

Hi everyone!
(English is not my first launch so sorry for my bad grammar)
I don´t know if this is the right platform to ask what I'm about to ask but I thought I might give it a try anyway.

I'm writing an essay about women in the film industry. I've been searching for articles about women working BEHIND the camera but it's very hard to find. I was wondering if someone knows an article (or a few) about the subject.
I'm writing about women's experience in the film industry, the difference in treatment between men and women, economic differences and so on.

Thanks in advance!

Theory Video Suggestion Film theory suggestion - Owl House

Okay, so, the Owl House has a bunch of lore, is connected to Amphibia and Gravity Falls through little easter eggs, and I think it would be really interesting to see an Owl House theory on film theory.

tbh I’m not the best at coming up with my own theories so I can’t give specific theories for Owl House, but there is ABSOLUTELY a ton of lore and a bunch of theories out there. this might be a bad idea but I think it would be cool.

also, if there is and Owl House film theory video that I am unaware of let me know, mb lol. Pretty sure there’s not though.

For those who don’t know what this is. It’s supposedly an old forgotten film that seems to have effects on the people who remember it very differently. This is evident in This short and a post on the https://eggsinspace.com that says that they found an old copy but it wasn’t like narrator remembered while his friend said it was exactly like that. There is another short from apparently the same even, but this one shows the way Eggs in Space is influencing minds in a more creepy light.

I took a cursory glance at the website, here’s some other things to note:

There is a line in a post that says “Loved Jen’s theory that The Egg and Ovelina are one and the same (transference of psyche via the stories it was fed).” This fits with the theme of Eggs in Space (the story) influencing the minds of those who watch it to a disturbing degree.

They mention many movies about movies, such as Day by Night, and Demoni. Which is fitting because this entire arg started in a movie theatre.

There is a phone number on a poster that shrieks out random notes when you call it. (I‘m 100 percent sure it’s a code.)

The picture on the poster seems to have things attacking the audience? It might just be blurry.

Most of the images I’ve attached above are from the website. There are more disturbing ones.

Also, this has to be an arg because it says it was last updated in 2001 yet it lists a web law from 2004.

Another important thing to know is that the current r/meowwolf subreddit has a banner that translates to “The Hatchening is Nigh”, which makes me think they are involved in it.

There is also an email called [hello@eggsinspace.com](mailto:hello@eggsinspace.com) listed on the website.

This is as far as I have come so far. I hope that other sleuths can make it further.

if you call it’s really distorted but you can make out “there are no more available viewings for eggs in space”
