Does being a trustee in jail help with getting a lighter sentence?

If you're a trustee but have a repeat offender track record does being a trustee before pre trial hearing help with sentencing at all? Texas if that matters.

Jail trustees usually get 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 days served credit.

I meant to ask whether it can lessen their chances of prison regardless of their record in any way shape or form. I suppose I didnt word that correctly

No, being trustee doesn't lessen the chance but it looks better on you going in.

Does being a house mouse get extra credit?

Is trustee different than key holder?

Asking for a friend….

No key holders in hail. Use to have in prisons but that was way before the 80s.

No being a trustee only gets you 2 for 1 off your sentence for each day you work. So if your in jail and you have a 6 month sentence, you will be out in 3 months. Thats for county jail. Being a trustee in prison just gets you more priviliges and better living conditions. I was a s3 trustee in prison, meaning i could work anywhere inside of the prison gate without being accompanied by a Co, and be out of my pod all day and i could eat good. It didnt help me in any other way besides that though. I accrued 5 years good time and work time on a 3 year sentence but none of it counted because my charge was agg, so i was just working basically to have something to do. The county jail i was in already gave everyone 2 for 1 reguardless if you were a trustee or not. The trustees only got 3 for 1 just one day more for working their asses off all day. Being a trustee in jail though can effect any time you do in prison too though. Because it carries over and your credited those days. So to answer the question. Does it give you a lighter sentence? NO. Being a trustee is simply their way of scamming you into doing free labor so they dont have to.

That’s a pretty big help tho. For me once I became a trustee the time flew by and felt so easy, my mood improved I lost weight and I felt like myself again. Having even a shitty job for me is so important like having a reason to exist for me helped me immensely. Time was on easy mode. I also got to live in a trustee unit so you’re not around as many scumbags that was nice too.

It did the same for me. It improved my mood and kept me away from the drama in the pod. I stayed working 12 to 15 hours a day. I gained weight though lol.

Yeah if you're the type of personality that would rather be moving around all day it has it's perks. Personality I'd rather be doing some kinda shitty job and a some kinda responsibility all day.

I'm curious don't the other inmates give you shit or does it make you a "target" or whatever? I know I've prob just seen too many movies lol but it would make me think you would be targeted as a trustee

No its not like that. Atleast in prison its not because trustees have access to all the stuff inmates want. Officer dining hall food, bleach, grilled burgers and sanwiches... without the trustees they wouldnt be able to get stuff like that.

Not if you’re looking at a tdc trip. You don’t get 2 or 3 for 1 credit on your county time applied to your tdc time. If you have 200 days county and you get debt to tdc, you get 200 days of credit and tdc does their own calculations for good time credit for parole eligibility.

Depends on jurisdiction and the circumstances honestly. It can but not always. Definitely would help with parole and getting out on that.

No if you get sentenced to.. Let's say a year you get 2 for 1 in my county. But if you'd facing prison time this is a myth people spread.

So the judge wouldn't have a "they should get prison but since hes been a trustee we can lean more towards deciding on probation" mindset?

No, although getting in trouble can make it worse but you are expected to NOT get in trouble while you are already in jail. But no being a trustee is not something I've ever heard being a factor in a sentence. It's not really an impressive credential.

All of the jails I have been in did not allow trustees to be pre trial. You had to already pled guilty and/or been sentenced

No it does not especially if you’re a repeat offender

Nope. Doesn’t help at all. Your 2 or 3 for 1 days only count in county so once you hit prison those county jail days all count as single days. But being a trustee does get you out of your pod and possibly other perks. I prefer it.

No, but it allows you to move dope around

Depends on if you’re going to a county or state or federal facility. If you go to county they usually have a trustee or good behavior credit program like 2 for 1 or 3 for 1. State and Federal usually operate by certain programs you may qualify for to reduce the amount of time you have to serve. The key though is nothing reduces your sentence. Only how much of your sentence you actually serve.

No... It helps make your sentence feel lighter because you actually have something to do. With your time though.

If it’s county time yes… but you do get percs and it was fun being one. We worked nights, cleaned booking and had to clean up puke and shit…but when we did that the guards gave us extra candy for the super nasty stuff. There was a guy in booming who had sorosis or something(bad skin flaking condition) and we had to clean up his skin 💔 but we got our own pod. In a different jail I was in we got a soda every Monday, got to eat actual food, didn’t have to lock down and had contact visits.

I doubt it idunno that being good at jail really looks favorable to the judge.
