Discussion Archer Emiya is the most ideal heroic spirit in a HGW

Post image

It's not because he's the strongest or has the most op kit.

It's because he values the life of his master more than winning the grail war.He doesn't have ego or pride and if it came down to it he is happy to play dirty. His Projection magecraft is rather extremely cheap contrary to popular belief.Unlimited Blade Works alongside Gate of Babylon are the 2 most versatile ability..He can fight in close quarters and his range in archery is very good.He will listen to you if Shirou Emiya isn't in the grail war.More importantly he's consistently reliable and a novice mage can atlesst last a lot longer with him.

Another thing is he can easily identify who his opponent heroic spirits are by just looking at their weapons or artifacts because of the special properties of Unlimited Blade Works.

OH YEAH MOST IMPORTANTLY HE'S BASICALLY BUDGET GILGAMESH WHO DOESN'T HAVE EGO AND PRIDE AND IS BETTER IN SOME AREA'S AND AS WE KNOW EVEN THE BUDGET VERSION OF GILGAMESH IS EXTREMELY GOOD.

(Edit: Context among heroic spirits that can be summoned only in a Normal Grail War)

With the release of the Tamamo Aria we finally have enough girls to do a Holy Grail War.

So who would come out on top of their masters were roughly equal.

took down someone way above his weight class with nothing but sheer rage and unwavering loyalty and devotion and even after being pushed to the absolute brink of death yet still dragging his half dead body all the way to her throne just to make sure Artoria was safe. apologizing for not being more helpful while looking like he was one breath away from dead himself treating his own corpse like state as though it were of no consequence just to prioritize her safety being so consumed by concern for her that he completely forgot he was practically dying himself only allowing himself to die once he had her permission
The only KOTR that even Salter likes

Lowkey got robbed by Bedivere of the title of Artoria’s greatest knight but he’s got his seat secured as the second greatest for sure

btw fuck Lancelot, fuck Mordred, and fuck Tristan. No traitors or trash are welcome in this conversation. seeing agravain beating Lancelot was super satisfying. Gawain, Percival and others can stay tho they cool

Things like legendary lands and countries of eternal spring are the products of the imagination of whatever elemental rules over them. Consequently, it is possible for humans to wander into them by accident. The castle in the mountains that Arcueid calls home is actually a product of her marble phantasm.

The Everdistant Utopia [Noble Phantasm] Avalon. The paradise in the Arthurian legends; a scabbard bearing the name of the Faerie Land. The utopia Avalon was thought to be derived from the island that produced the "Apple of Immortality" in Greek mythology. Avalon mended all wounds and halted the wielder's aging process. After unleashing its true name, Avalon would break into hundreds of shards and shield the wielder from all interference. The sheath of the holy sword was excavated by the Einzberns from Cornwall. It was given to Kiritsugu as a catalyst to summon King Arthur. It was a Noble Phantasm reaching the realm of True Magic. Avalon shut out all physical interference, operation of parallel worlds, and multi-dimensional communication (up to the sixth dimension). If Saber went hikikomori, no one would reach her.

In the world of Fate/stay night, a general term for beasts which do not correspond to normal ecosystems. They are divided into three ranks: monstrous, mythical, and divine. The vast majority of monstrous beasts are crossbreeds (chimera) living in still-uncivilized regions, but it seems that those of mythical rank and above have shifted to the reverse side of the world. Though the Pegasus that appears in the story is a monstrous beast, its long life puts it at the level of a mythical beast. Ordinary magi are completely unable to compete with something of this rank. Also, beings that take after dragons are considered to be superior, regardless of classification. Since dragons are endowed with the characteristics of several species, it appears that even consorting with humans was not uncommon.

World Material - Theory of Magic - Magecraft: Magical Beasts, p.046 Magical Beasts An umbrella term that encompasses all beasts that do not fall within the normal ecosystem. In this context, “beast” is a thaumaturgical term, and does not necessarily mean quadrupedal mammals. Magical Beasts cannot be explained by immature research or sudden mutations. They are true deviations from biology. Roughly Magical Beasts can be classified into Monstrous Beasts -> Phantasmal Beasts -> Divine Beasts in ascending order towards higher existence. Most Magical Beasts have existed since the Age of Gods, and are Chimeras formed from mixing different species. They live on currently undeveloped lands that cannot be reached by mankind. Furthermore, Phantasmal Beasts that have existed in the past have almost all migrated to a different world presented as the “Inside of the World”. Although classified as a Monstrous Beast, the Pegasus that Rider mounted in the story is an existence closer to that of a Phantasmal Beast due to surviving over a very long period of time. Also worth mentioning is that, Phantasmal Beasts that have survived over thousands of years are on the same tier as True Magic, thus rendering mysteries on the level of sorcery completely ineffective against them

This Noble Phantasm is the scabbard of Excalibur, originating from Avalon—the land of fairies where King Arthur would eventually find rest. Its wielder is healed of any wound and even ceases to age. Furthermore, by releasing its True Name, a barrier is deployed that provides the ultimate defense; capable of nullifying even magical interference, the very existence of this Noble Phantasm is akin to "magic" itself.

In legend, the loss of this scabbard cast a sinister shadow over King Arthur's life, eventually leading to the kingdom's collapse. In modern times, the Einzberns excavated it in Cornwall, and it passed into the hands of Kiritsugu Emiya. Later, it was embedded within Shirou Emiya's body, saving his life and serving as the catalyst that forged his bond with Artoria. In the "Fate" route, the two discovered that Shirou himself was her "scabbard," and together they emerged victorious in the Holy Grail War.

Avalon—the scabbard of Excalibur—possesses the power of a Noble Phantasm in its own right, known as "The Ever-Distant Utopia." Beyond healing the wielder's wounds and halting aging, it can be deployed to form a perfect fortress that blocks all physical interference.

In the legends of King Arthur, Excalibur's scabbard is described as a "magical scabbard." After King Arthur received Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake, the wizard Merlin gave him this scabbard, which held the magical power to ensure the wielder would never shed blood. It was considered even more valuable than the sword Excalibur itself. Consequently, the theft of this scabbard by Morgan le Fay—King Arthur's half-sister—paved the way for the King's eventual death.

An oft-mentioned aspect of the Drake mythos is that of his ship, the Golden Hind. Not only was it the flagship of Drake's fleet, it was seen as a symbol of hope and a source of miracles. The exploits the Golden Hind made possible elevated Drake (known and feared by the Spanish as El Draque) to a level on par with King Arthur. Both are said to dwell in Avalon and "across the ocean", the city of the dead, and will eventually return to lead England to true glory.

The world inhabited by humans today (including its physical laws) is akin to a fabric spread thinly across the planet's surface. Beneath that fabric lies the planet "Earth" itself. In contrast, the "Reverse Side of the World" is the world as it existed before humans—a fabric belonging to the era when Phantasmal Species roamed freely.

In short, the planet Earth sits at the very bottom; enveloping it is the "Reverse Side of the World"—a location governed by the laws that once defined "the world"—and enveloping that, in turn, is the "current world."

"My apologies. Next up is the Holy Lance. Rather than defeating foreign enemies, its purpose is to stabilise the planet... or to be more specific, anchor it. The Fairy Kingdom you mentioned earlier isn't in a completely different world. It is right beneath you, in the Reverse Side of the World that is separated from us by merely a thin sheet.” "Beneath me, you say... You mean underground?" "You can think of it that way. Essentially, beneath the foundation that is 'your world', there exists a gap which is the 'Fairy Kingdom', with the Earth's surface underneath. The Fairy Kingdom and your world are both nothing more than layers. Textures. Each of them are outward appearances attached to the Earth's surface.” "Textures... So you mean Britain?" "Not just Britain, it encompasses the entire world. In fact, Britain is pretty special. Artoria, what you can see with your eyes isn't everything. When you humans attained the Seat of Primacy, the fairies foresaw that the state of the planet would change, and accepted it. The planet alters its physical laws according to the beings that live on its surface. As such, the era that was brimming with arcana and magical energy began to decline gradually upon humans becoming the greatest power. Gods, nature in the possession of personalities, became mere natural phenomena, and the ether in the air dispersed. The passing of Solomon, the King of Magecraft, accelerated this decline of the arcane. And five hundred years ago, the Age of Gods finally came to an end. This planet became independent of nature, its ownership passed on to animals that could survive even outside of the natural cycle. Yes, to put it in simple terms, you humans. The intelligence... or the mentality that humans had acquired was directed towards illuminating the darkness of 'uncertain laws'. As a result, the planet's rules were altered to become 'laws that best suit human life'. Both dragons and fairies are infringements of this rule. Because of that, they left to inhabit the Reverse Side of the World, ceding the surface to you. The only ones remaining are those who lacked the power to migrate or those who refused to accept their end. The former are harmless but the latter pose a grave threat to humans. These powerful individuals are able to survive despite the loss of the magical energy in the air, with the potential of being threats to mankind for centuries. Anyway, you've become the representatives of this planet. But still, it's just a thin layer that can easily be peeled away. When you have a piece of cloth about to be blown away by the wind, what do you do? Leave it as it is? Obviously not. You pin it so that it doesn't come undone. The Holy Lance is what anchors the texture of the human world to the planet. The lance that shines at the world's end. The pillar that protects the primates, the Holy Lance Rhongomyniad."

Reverse Side of the World

The place where the evil dragon Fafnir finally arrived at the very end of the novels. The Phantasmal Races, having understood that the Age of the Gods was over, ceded the Earth’s surface to humans and moved to this place. The world where humans currently live (including the laws of physics) is like a fabric that thinly extends across the surface of the planet. Beneath that fabric exist the planet known as “Earth.” On the other hand, the Reverse Side of the World is the world as it was before humans lived there… that is, the fabric of the era where Phantasmal Races strode the land. In other words, the Earth is the bottommost layer of the planet, and it is covered by the “Reverse Side of the World”—the place where the laws of the “world” as it once was reigns, and covering that is the “Present World.” In the Reverse Side of the World, the Holy Grail cannot activate its function of “using the Third Magic.” In the first place, that function was for the sake of granting Shirou Kotomine’s wish. In other words, it is programmed to target humans, and doesn’t count Phantasmal Races as valid targets. Jeanne d’Arc is a Heroic Spirit who, from the start, lost her human body long ago. Because of that, the chances of her reaching the Reverse Side weren’t completely zero… However, that is merely the kind of “not zero” like, as a comparison, somehow managing to pass through a wall with the tunnel effect, but the Throne where Heroic Spirits Exist is cut off from the time axis, so she effectively had an infinite number of attempts to try.

Mana Drain Source: Fate/EXTELLA material · Encyclopedia of Fate EXTELLA

A skill unique to Titan Altera. Her enormous body, made by collecting spiritrons, unconditionally drains processed mana by means of “spells”1, turning it into HP and armor points. In this context, science, knowledge, and civilization are all considered “spells.” They are what the Anti-Cell considers most “nutritious.” No matter how flawed that reasoning is, any attack (interference) born of intelligent design will only give Altera more power. The immense firepower of grand magecraft2, as well as weapons of war made with scientific techniques, only add fuel to her fire. On the other hand, although pure magical energy equivalent to life force itself is somewhat absorbed by Mana Drain, its effects will apply correctly. The most straightforward strategy to fight against an Anti-Cell is to beat it down with simple physical attacks. Irritating as it is for the attacker, boosting the physical blow with Mana Burst will only result in that magic being absorbed. The only exception to that is the unparalleled power of the Holy Sword. In fact, the White Titan who appeared in the distant past was brought down with a Holy Sword forged in the Inner Sea of the Earth.

Sefar

A massive mansion. Wait, that’s Caesar.2

Sefar is the avatar that the Giant God Altera used when she appeared on Earth. Altera’s final form. This is the alternate form that the Altera within the Moon Cell created to destroy the Earth’s civilizations 14,000 years ago. First, she sent her data to the Earth’s surface, and created a giant of herself that was sixteen meters tall. Then, she sent it on a rampage as a titan, and began destorying the civilizations on the Earth’s surface. She used the power of the Anti-Cell to make animals giant as well, and used them as tools in her assault upon the humans of that era. Those animals, who destroyed what are now known as the Western European territories, were immortalized in cave paintings. (In the world of Extra, these are the murals found in Altamira cave.) She spread destruction everywhere she went, and fought with all of the gods who were protecting humanity, eventually triumphing over the majority of them. After defeeating “the concept of the War God,” she gained control of the Sword of the War God. (That is the reason why Greek mythology depicts Mars losing to the goddess Athena.) Altera’s might forced even the gods to retreat, but in the end, she was defeated by the hands of an mere human. That human was the wielder of the Holy Sword, also known as the Divine Armament, which was forged in the inner sea of the stars. Altera escaped from the battlefield in a near-death state and eventually perished in a desolate field far away. The cave paintings of the White Titan were made by the people of that land, who had witnessed her end. After quite some time, Altera’s remains became a relic that eventually formed a cave, which was later excavated by the elders of the Hunnic tribe.

Sefar appears as the final boss in Nero, Tamamo, and Altera’s endings. Her distinctly alien appearance is quite captivating.

It is the final paradise, filled with flowers of every imaginable color. In the day, it's filled with the spring sunlight and the scent of summer, and at night, you feel the fall air and look up at the winter stars. The earth is filled with flowers and insects. The forests with water and green and beasts. Beautiful fairies dance near the waterside. In the myths, this tiny little world is called the Land of Eternal Spring, or the Island of the Apple. It is a utopia, far beyond the reach of animals who possess wisdom.

Its name is Avalon. The inner sea of the planet. It is another name for the place where the Earth's soul is kept.

The man sealed himself there. He locked himself in the tower, and chose a future where he could not die until the end of the world. He had seen what he needed to see. ...No. It was because he'd seen more than enough beauty.

"Now go, Cath Palug. I will remain here. You must be free, and go witness what is truly beautiful."

The man felt nothing in particular as he let his last roommate out of the window. The mage looked out his only window and over the world, without ever becoming tired of it.

This is a fairy tale of the end of the world, and there's nothing more to it than that

Mash Does this mean we're inside Albion's spirit cavern now? Can we still contact Chaldea?
Mash ...No, we can't.We're cut off now, just as Da Vinci predicted.
Mash Gathering coordinate data now.
Mash Ten... Twenty... Forty... Eighty... Eighty!?
Mash Master, you're not going to believe this, but it looks like we're eighty km below ground now!
Senji Muramasa Damn, that's even deeper than the pit. A lot deeper. Are we...even sure this is underground?
Senji Muramasa It's completely pitch dark, and it doesn't even feel like I'm standing on anything.
Merlin You're not wrong. This world is in a whole otherlayeranother dimension, to put it simply.
Merlin You were just able to bypass all the ground in the way thanks to Albion.
Merlin But be warned that it goes much deeper.
Merlin In Proper Human History, the eighty-km mark is where Albion gave up the ghost...
Merlin But in this Lostbelt, Albion managed tomake a route all the way to Avalon.
Merlin Unfortunately, the path wasn't wide enough for Albion to get through, so they still died on the surface.
Choices You mean there's a spirit cavern like this in Proper Human History, too?
Merlin That's right. Though over there, it's known as the Spiritual Tomb.
Merlin In Proper Human History, the Spiritual Tomb of Albion ends at the eighty km mark.
Merlin Beyond that is a world known as the Fairy Realm, which no human can enter.
Merlin But since the British Lostbelt is ALL this world's Faerie Realm, there are no such restrictions here.
Merlin So we can keep going down as far as we like.
Merlin In real-world distance, you're starting at the four-hundred km mark and going further down to the “Beyond D” layer twenty-seven hundred km away.
Merlin That is where you'll find your destination:the planet's inner sea.
Senji Muramasa Wait. So we're eighty km below ground now, and our destination's twenty-seven hundred km below ground? How the hell can we cover that kind of distance?
Merlin Simple. You take a shortcut.
Merlin When I said it'd take an hour, I wasn't basing that on how fast you travel. I meant that's how long it'd take. Period.
Merlin So, what do you think?Doesn't this feel more like a cavern?
Merlin Now go on, keep moving. The transit time reduction I mentioned is kicking in with every step you take.
Merlin This place is Earth's memory. Well, more like a space made of pure information, really.
Merlin The idea is to skip past all the vague, hazy memories, and get you straight to your destination.
Kukulcan I'm not surprised. The Malla has no influence here.
Kukulcan This is where the planet's sense of touch was dispatched from the inner sea...the place where the Elementals that exist in Proper Human History were born.
Kukulcan So since the god filaments didn't create this part of Mictlān, it makes sense that it would be closer to the environments you're familiar with in Proper Human History.
Choices The planet's inner sea... As in, Avalon?

Da Vinci Yup. If we think of a planet as a living being, the inner sea is a place for its heart that's guaranteed to exist.
Da Vinci You know about Reality Marbles, right?
Da Vinci They're essentially a mage's inner world made manifesta powerful spell that lays their own mindscape over reality, even if only for a moment.
Da Vinci Well, the planet's inner sea is like that, but for Earth. You can think of it as a Reality Marble the planet itself possesses.
Da Vinci That being said, Earth is a big place, and even human hearts contain multitudes.
Da Vinci For example, the part of its heart that remains close to human society, or the part that has a few bones to pick with it.
Da Vinci Avalon is just one of several possible sides of that heartone that prefers nature and eschews connections to human society.

Personally for me she's within A-S as she's not a bad person and what not but the main issues with her is her being a shut in and how her room would be like which can be a turn off for some but up to ya to decide where Batty ends up.

Discussion What are your thoughts on Nobunaga and Okita, as well as the stories around them?

I’ll happily admit I like these two characters, I haven’t actually engaged in their event stories since their one and I’m completely loss in the new one. Nobunaga is just a all around good time and compelling character same with Okita for me but whenever I see stories “focus” on them; it’s not actually focused on them but around them and they barely get any scenes. So I’m curious if people like them and stories focus around them as well as what engages them?
