MODS App + Website Self-Promo Weekly Thread

Recently there has been a huge influx of FODMAP/IBS related apps, services, and websites. Many are "vibe" coded using AI. There has been a lot of demand to ban self promotion all together in this sub, but instead, we are going to put it in a weekly thread.

Please post your app/service/website in this thread. If you have a physical product or recipe (related to a product that you are promoting), please message the mods for permission to post this separately.

Please report any self-promoting outside of this thread.

Thank you!

General Question/Help Probiotics and Fiber Supplements

• Upvotes

I’m still a bit new to figuring out how to deal with my SIBO and Fodmaps, but have several months under my belt by now. Symptoms have calmed down quite a bit, because I’ve learned that onions & garlic are my main triggers. Even still, I’m still reintroducing foods to see how they affect me. When my symptoms were at their worst, it seemed like probiotics and fibre capsules both caused gas and bloating (but at that time, EVERYTHING did).

So- for those of you with more experience: my gastroenterologist generally recommends probiotics and fiber. How do they work for (or against) you? Are they normally helpful or problematic for people with SIBO?

Tips/Advice Endurance Training and FODMAPs

I've got UC and have been on a low FODMAP diet for the last several years (in addition to some pretty heavy duty medications). In trying to get back into distance running, I've been struggling with finding low FODMAP fueling strategies for long runs and it turns out you can just email the people at Skratch and ask questions. I had been avoiding their high carb drink mixes because "fructose" is one of the ingredients but it turns out that the glucose:fructose mix is actually 90:10 unlike the normal sports drink mix which is more like 50:50. Since excess fructose is my actual problem, turns out the high carb stuff works great. I managed to keep down something like 400 calories on a 2.5 hour run with no issues which is a huge step up from slowly sipping on sports drink and hoping I don't bonk. I can only personally vouch for the Skratch stuff, but my suspicion is that much of the high carb mixes that are all the rage these days are similarly stuffed with excess glucose.

General Question/Help I am not lactose intolerant; why am I still reacting to milk?

I have had blood test done to confirm that I am not lactose intolerant.

I even tried Fairlife milk, which is lactose free and my stomach is not fully liking it. What could be the reason?

General Question/Help Does anyone have intolerances that manifest as chronic sickness?

Hi! I am currently trying to figure out my chronic illness. I essentially get "colds" every month for a week. Sore throat, congestion, coughing, fatigue. I also have IBS-D. This has been happening for years and did not get better when I moved to a new city.

My doctor thinks the constant colds are allergies, since I don't seem to have any glaring immune system problems.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thank you!

Vent I am so tired of this sh*t 😭 #Keto Help Needed

Literally! I was doing great, eating well, lost and maintained my weight... then oneday my tummy starts getting upset and eventually I get to a dietician just to discover that I have this FODMAP sensitivity thing going on.

So ofcourse then everything made sense... dude... the only thing I ended up eating was a bunch of pasta and junk food because apparently my tummy does not have an issue with that besides picking up tons of weight and developing a binge eating disorder and and and....

So fast forward, 18 months since I was enlightened by the dietician.... been trying different meal plans now to lose weight and carbs is my trigger so I've been hitting it keto and been doing great! ....then I start buying food that I see other normal ketoers get.... cheese, mushrooms, cabbage.... made such a good dish....

And then shortly after, my tummy starts going crazy! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I don't know what's high or low FODMAP anymore and honestly like, I don't even know what to eat anymore. I'm sh*tting my life away! I bought mushrooms a d cabbage in bulk for the entire November month, what now?

General Question/Help Fructans in wheat causing symptoms similar to gluten allergy?

If i eat anything with wheat and gluten i get symptoms similar to gluten allergy and need weeks for my gut to recover. I still get a flare up with pain cramps and bloated from other fructan foods like onion or garlic. I can't tolerate any fructan foods and fructose but with wheat and gluten it's way worse and different, i feel like poisoning my body eating anything with wheat and gluten and get insane brain fog, fatigue and anxiety.

Does this happen to anyone with fructan intolerance? It can't be the fructans right? They should only cause a flare up like other fructans.

General Question/Help Transition after Flare

Hey all!

So I was diagnosed with IBS in my 20’s (now 43) and I have been in remission for about 5 years (I didn’t do anything different, it just eventually went away and I didn’t have any issues) …..until 7 days ago. The stomach pain and bloating came back with a vengeance.

I wasn’t aware of a low fodmap diet last time but I started following it a few days ago and it seems to be helping. I’m on day 2 of no pain thanks to watching what I eat. So I guess my question is….when do you know your flare is over and when can you start trying to eat normally again? My previous flares only lasted about a day and then it was gone so I never limited my diet. Any info appreciated!

Shit Post Girl dinner but make it low fodmap

Post image
140 Upvotes

It's exhausting to cook everything from scratch AND I can't just pick up dinner from a restaurant without doing a bunch of research. So sometimes my meals look like this....

Gluten free toast with peanut butter, blueberries, and lactose free cottage cheese

What kind of meals do you guys scrounge up when you're being lazy?

Shit Post I’ve offended the bean gods

“Try kidney beans!”, they said. “They’re so good for fiber!”, they said. “You kid?”, I asked. “Ney”, they said.
And I had faith. I had trust. Why would you abuse my trust for evil?

Anyway, had a minor serving of kidney beans around 7-8 hours ago. Been bloated and unwell for about 3? When will it end? When can I sleep?

General Question/Help I miss cronch

What am I doing wrong?

I miss crunchy foods and snacks.

Every meal is just plain chicken, boiled carrots, plain white rice. Over and over.

Food used to bring me so much joy. Now I dread meal times.

No snacks between meals. (Because what can I even eat and I’m terrified of the stabbing bloating.)

I’m starving all. The. Time.

Am I doing something wrong?

Tips/Advice Almond milk mistake?

New to fodmaps.

Was told to cut out dairy (for other reasons).

Have been using plain, unsweetened almond milk in decaf coffee.

I’m finding I’m bloated from about midday all the way through to bedtime.

Rest of diet fodmap friendly as far as I can tell.

Could almond milk additives be the culprit?

Should I just go back to milk in my coffee?

Enzymes Retesting onion with an enzyme (Fodzyme)? Anyone tried it?

Doing the reintroduction phase and onion powder got me on day one of the test, so that was a fun day lol. Thinking of retesting this week with Fodzyme to see if it actually makes a difference for me.

Has anyone done a retest with an enzyme like this? Did it help with onion/garlic, and did you take it right before eating or with the first bite?

Starting tomorrow, hoping I at least get through the first dose

Elimination Phase How long do I keep going?

Hi all, I've been lurking for a little while.

I started my FODMAP journey almost exactly 6 weeks ago.

I've been rigid. Every meal I eat is personally prepared by myself. I use the Monash app like it's another limb. The diary is kept meticulously. All measured and recorded.

Yet, I'm still in constant pain.

I think I've had a few hours of respite in the entire 5 ½ weeks.

Where do I knock it on the head?

I'm tired of the constant control of the menu and missing out on family meals etc.

Is there a line?

I'm UK based and the professional (gastroenterologist) who suggested I try this was spectacularly unhelpful.

Literally 'try a low fodmap diet, there's an app' end of phone call. I have zero contact details for them to even prove I've done it.

I don't know where I stand or what to do next.

Can anyone offer me any insight?

Elimination Phase Another weekend of pain

I posted before about problems after cornflakes and lactose free milk and gluten free pasta. This weekend I had plain chicken and white rice on Friday and chicken with soya sauce and lime with chips last night. All pretty plain but both days particularly mornings have been filled with pain and gurgling. Wife now thinks it’s the snacks. I’ve been eating a lot of dark chocolate rice cakes and one or two Coke zeros (caffeinated and decaffeinated) a day. I’m struggling to work out what is causing this. Weekends are always worse but my diet is mostly the same all week

General Question/Help Will I ever eat onions again?

Had problems looking like SIBO for two years now, my life has changed so much for the worse, none of my pants fit anymore and so much pain. I tried the los Fodmap diet and it's the only thing that's worked! Like at day four I was feeling better. Two weeks in and I had a bit of onion powder and a bit of gluten (literally less that 2 grams of onion and like 10 of gluten) and it made me go back to not wearing jeans. I love onion and everything has it or garlic. I know Fodmap is a temporary diet but it doesn't seem like I will be able to get out of it. How does it work exactly? Will a detox sort of make me tolerant to at least some of the ingredientes that are hurting me now? Is this a real solution or just to make it easier to wait for disgnosis and a real cure? The onion thing makes me so sad :( something can be vegan and gluten free and still have onion so I still can't have it :(
