BE NICE - Why “Be Nice” Is a Rule – And What Happens If You’re Not

It is a new rule. It should not have to be.

Toxic behavior will get you banned.

SCAR Enthusiasts,

This sub is all about FN SCARs, sharing knowledge, showing off builds, and fostering a community where we can all geek out over one of the coolest platforms out there. But to keep this place awesome, we need to talk about something important: why being nice is a rule.

Why “Be Nice”?

This subreddit isn’t just a forum; it’s a community. When you post, comment, or engage here, you're interacting with real people who share your interest in SCARs. Everyone’s here to learn, share, and enjoy. Being nice ensures that:

  1. Everyone feels welcome – Whether you’re a seasoned SCAR user or a newcomer, kindness encourages participation and keeps the vibe positive.
  2. We stay on-topic – Snarky comments, insults, or trolling don’t contribute to the conversation and can derail useful discussions.
  3. The sub grows – A positive community attracts more like-minded people, enriching everyone’s experience.

What Happens If You’re Not Nice?

We have a low-tolerance policy for rudeness, harassment, or bullying. If you can’t follow the simple rule to be kind:

  1. First offense: You’ll get a warning (if it’s minor).
  2. Repeat offenses: You’ll be banned. No second chances, no “I didn’t mean it.”

It’s not about silencing anyone – it’s about protecting the community. We want this sub to be a place where people are excited to share and learn, not afraid of getting flamed or attacked.

TL;DR

This sub is about SCARs, not being mean. Be nice, stay on-topic, and contribute constructively, or risk losing your place here. Let’s keep this community as legendary as the rifles we love!

Stay sharp,
Your Mods

15p coming together.

Finally got my LPM Torch from my LGS today and mounted up. Just wanted to shout out a thanks for suppressor suggestions from a different post of mine.

Nothing too crazy here, LPM, Regosys, KFF, Lingle, KDG so far. Waiting on the Lingle lowers to come back in stock, have all the supporting mods like G$ trigger, FCD/Odin ambi controls, grip, and Lancer mags ready to rock, been on the waiting list for what seems like eternity, or closer to 8 months. Anyone know if Lingle is releasing any more lowers?

Waiting on Guntology suppressor cover.

Might eventually pivot to Aimpoint/Kastle, with IR of sorts for NV.

At least now I can check for function. 🫠

Cheers all and may your bullets always find their intended targets.

Question Questions regarding acog BDC and Elcan

• Upvotes

Hi all been struggling trying to find a proper optic for my newly purchased scar 17.

My issue is that the acog 762 bdc and Elcan both list they are for 20” barreled applications. I don’t see the reason to spend the Elcan money if the BDC reticles aren’t accurate? And then kinda same discussion with the acog. If shooting ball m80 for those with either of these how “off” are the reticles marks?

Question Rego rail system improve 15p grip?

Post image
20 Upvotes

This is my current 15p 300BO setup. I hate it. There is no place to comfortably put your left hand with the charging handle and the front sling loop. I saw that Rego makes a system that deletes the bottom pic rail and sling loop. Does this help being able to grip the rail? Also what solutions do you have for a pressure pad for ir lam? So hard to reach it.

Question 147 grain 308 vs 762 Zero shift

I know my next gen scar can handle either but will I see a big difference in zero between the two? I found some 308 that's $70 cheaper for a 500 round case ($430 vs $499). Should I just pony up the extra money to keep matching ammo or is the difference even noticeable with zeroed optics?

Training/Shooting Ventum 762 On My Scar 15

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Finally had some time to go to the range and test out the Ventum 762. Shoots great, feels great. It is louder than my resonator R2, but way less gas to the face, so that’s a plus

Question SCAR 17 NEXT GEN (Gen 2) Muzzle Device Removal

Post image
52 Upvotes

Hey guys, just wanted to ask everyone who has bought the new SCAR 17 next gen or gen 2, how was removing the factory SF Muzzle brake? Was it Rocksett? Loctite? Torch? Boiling hot water? Any tips will be highly appreciated.

Wanted to know before I do something crazy. I plan to install Huxwrx Brake for a Flow 762 Ti.

Thank you very much.

Howdy all,

Many thanks in advance, look forward to mixing it up with you all

Question What reticle acog would you recommend scar 17

Torn between Chevron and horseshoe. I will run a piggyback red dot but I still am going back and forth. What is recommended? I have never owned an acog before. Thanks

Steps for drilling out Scar 15P deflector screws?

For anyone who has done this, can you please explain how you did it and what size bits you used? Unfortunately despite buying Wiha bits, heating with both a micro torch and an industrial size soldering iron many minutes, one of the screws stripped and I might give up on the remaining one and may also drill it out.

I am also looking at gunsmith options so if you don’t have advice on how to do it myself, feel free to drop a gunsmith rec too as I might go that way (even better if they’re in Houston area).

I have a drill press and a good bits and have generally done most of my own gun work so am not a novice though recognize it is a risk.

Thank you.

Question 5.56 BDC ACOG on a 7.62 SCAR?

Wanted to know if it was a good idea to put a 5.56 acog on my 17. Not worried about it breaking, but wondered if any of you all did it and how bad the overlap was on the BDC. Also didnt wanna be the one weird guy to have a 5.56 sight on a 7.62 lol call me insecure 😭

Barrel lengths

Post image
15 Upvotes

Looking to shorten these muskets down a bit. I will be shipping them off to u/eMGunslinger for the chops. Looking to have the suppressor mounts as flush to the rail extensions as possible. Any words of wisdom from anybody who has the same components? Ideally The 17 would be cut down to 14ish and P&W, the 16 cut down to 10” and SBR. Is it possible to send loose barrel on its own to be cut, get exact measurements for form 1, then get approved form 1 before taking possession? (Form 1 still required in my state)

17:
Midwest Industries Picatinny rail extension
Surefire 7.62 muzzle brake
Surefire 7.62 RC2 suppressor

16:
Parker Mountain Machine Picatinny rail extention
Surefire 5.56 muzzle brake
Surefire 5.56 RC2 supressor

SCAR Picture I think my SCAR has achieved its final iteration.

Post image
110 Upvotes

After testing different setups I think I’ve finally achieved my ideal setup. Initially was setup with a 1-6 VCOG, RC3, and a vert grip. Decided the gun was too heavy so ditched the RC3 for a polo K. Around the same time the vert grip drama was going on so I decided to try shooting without and it turns out I do shoot a little better without and it’s still comfortable enough so I tossed some rail covers in for heat insulation. Wanted to try out dots and magnifiers to shave more weight and I’m liking it a lot but may swap back to the VCOG. Lastly I missed the low back pressure of the RC3 but wanted something less heavy and settled on the infinity 556k.

Question New to suppressors need help

I finally purchased a scar 17s and I am looking to run it suppressed with the HUXWRX flow can.

Never owned a suppressed gun so I’m trying to make sure I’m not missing anything in the process before I jump in.

From what I can tell online I need to buy:

-HUXWRX flow 762 TI

-HUXWRX muzzle break device for 762

-Need to bring it all to a gunsmith to have them install the muzzle break device ? (Don’t think I have the tools needed to do this on my own or the trust in myself to do it right)

Is that everything?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Can anyone suggest someone who can cut a few barrels and re-thread with a quick turn around time?
