MODS: if this is not allowed, I will take it down.

I am in the US right now (NYC), but originally from Italy, planning on FIRE and move back to Italy soon.

Anyone else?

Feeling like I need to switch Jobs to get to FIRE

• Upvotes

Hi, I am slowly working on getting money saved away to be able to retire early. And I would like to at least have 100k saved when I hit 35. As I am 28 now with only 17,5k invested I am a long way from that goal.

I am able to save up about 300 to 400 euro's per month with my current salary, and it does not seem like that wil inprove soon. I have no debt, so that is good. I rent an apartment, and have no expensive hobbies. My current in ome is about 3300 gross, and I take home 2500 after taxes and the company car (gas included).

In my line of work I help my clients with technical issues on bicycles, with a bit of r&d and rout cause determination of failures.

I do not have formal aducation with the bikes. I do have an online degree for data analitics.

Right now I work in a technical field but maybie it would be better if I switched jobs to be able to earn more money and save up more.

What are some fields you all would recomend? Is there an opertunity I am clearly missing, or should I look elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Residency choices as part of FIRE planning, anyone going to the Lisbon summit?

I’m an expat living in Portugal and starting to think about what comes next. I haven’t decided to move, but I’m looking into other countries, either as somewhere to live eventually or as a residency Plan B.

For those planning to retire abroad, what ended up mattering most when choosing a country? I’m curious how taxes, healthcare and residency changed your plans once you got past comparing everyday living costs.

I’ve signed up for the Wealth and Migration Summit in Lisbon in November, hoping to get a clearer idea of the options. I’d like to hear from people who’ve already made these decisions and compare experiences, alongside the sessions.

Anyone else going? Would be nice to grab a coffee and compare notes. I also have a promo code I’m happy to share if anyone wants it.
