For your cleans make sure you’re taking deep enough breaths and using the full support of your diaphragm! Sounds like you’re restricted on the cleans. Try practicing breathing exercises centered around getting the most weight out of your diaphragm, then consistently held long tones with power. It’s boring, but stronger and more consistent breath support will go a long way!

Yes thank you great advice! Exactly what my teacher and I been working on the first few lessons def needs more work I agree it feels like its a bit restricted on the high parts

Nice uncleans, honestly. Those are a solid start and as long as they don't hurt, keep doing them like that
I would seriously suggest grabbing a tuner app or even a handheld tuner and putting it in front of you while you practice. Intonation will go a long way towards improving your sound even if you continue to try singing the parts an octave down (Jesse's parts are pretty gnarly for basses/baritones if you aren't warmed up and ready or have a good mixed voice technique). I have perfect pitch and even I use a tuner sometimes practicing because it becomes very hard to focus on your pitch when you're trying to sing along to vocals as tough as ERRA's. The further you get from perfect or good relative pitch the more crucial a tuner becomes. This song is in Eb minor and basically never deviates from that save in some of the Eb mixo for the riffs at the end. If you find yourself singing notes out of that key, listen to the song again, try to do a unison with Jesse/JT using your "head voice" (that light, "softer" voice that you can use to sing easily in a higher range), check what note that is on the tuner, then go down an octave (same pitch but twelve keys lower on the piano if that makes sense) and sing it there. Eventually the "transcription" you're doing in your head will match up with the melody and regardless of pitch sense/pitch deafness you should be able to get it by watching the tuner closely and practice, practice, practice. I want to see you on this sub a year or two years from now belting out stuff like Gungrave because you put in the work to get good; you've definitely got the screaming foundation. Work those cleans my man and you've got this
