On one hand, I understand the sentiment that his shows are not just about the lasers and it’s more of an audiovisual thematic experience (and of course him and his team work extremely hard to deliver that).

But idk, to me the message comes across as pretentious… as if to say the other audiovisual events don’t have the same level of planning, depth or hard work put into them as Gareth and his team do. Plus the statement of “being the only laser show in town for years” is straight up false, dance events with incredible production have been around for decades.

Which brings me to my next point, Gareth’s new show Escape the Vortex (slide 7) seems to have a near identical laser arrangement to Hyperdome, which has been a trance/hard dance event in Sydney since 2024 (slide 8). Funnily enough, Gareth played at the 2024 and 2026 editions but he wasn’t involved with the production afaik (Lasersloth was the team behind it). To me, that seems very ironic considering the post he made 24 hours ago?

As a trance fan, I generally like Gareth and his music but I’m not sure I agree with him here. Thoughts?

So even though I don’t want to sound like I’m hating, I think this will ultimately sound like I’m hating anyways lol.

I don’t mean this to come off as judging based on one’s background, because obviously all is welcome to enjoy whatever music you want to enjoy. As someone who is a very active “member” and works in the scene, I have noticed a large trend of new DJs and “producers” coming in from extraordinarily wealthy families. That’s fine, but as someone who is connected with many dj’s and producers, it just sucks knowing how much easier it is to break through the scene with a remarkable financial safety net in comparison to others. DJing itself is relatively easy, and if you have a large amount of money to pursue that hobby, and potentially a career, you have a much greater chance to become a successful dj/producer compared to your regular Joe, rather than picking up a guitar and learning full on music theory like in the 60’s.

So why am I bringing this up?

Well, with this trend of newer DJs with mom & pop money, can also come a ridiculous ego. Being able to not work a 9-5 because your family can financially support your passion is one thing, but to also have an absolute inflated ego on top of that fact makes it kind of demoralizing as well as lose the magic of this scene. This is specific, and I know that, however I have seen this trend happening more now than ever, especially with the rise of ghost producers (not saying GP’s are new), AI curated music, and social media promotion such as creating reels. And sure, some of these kids really do have a passion for it, and it’s amazing that they can get all the support they need to kickstart their career in this industry, I mean it worked out very well for Fred Again (whom I’m a big fan of), Steve Aoki, Anyma, etc…

The thing is, it just sucks to see people I personally know & know of who started everything from scratch and in my opinion have much better DJ skills, songs, producing techniques after years of learning, to just be stepped over by an ego inflated nepo babies, because they can!

Been a fan of Odd Mob for more than a year now. Pretty everything he releases is an absolute banger and I wanna know other songs or artists with similar energy.

What I especially love about his music is that it’s usually a tad bit faster than traditional house, his bass lines are super catchy, his production is clear and punchy. It like teeters that line between traditional house and bass house.

What happend to ZHU?

I know I’m 10 years late to the game on this one but this is one of the most beautiful fucking EDM songs i’ve ever heard in my life. I can’t believe this was an unreleased, basically throwaway song

Haven't listened to EDM since 2016ish, I was wondering what people listen to nowadays. Heaters only please.

Sounds a bit like progressive trance but also has an EDM feel. Any help is much appreciated!

I've seen some sources claiming he actually is. Are there any reliable ones?

I’m looking for some artists that make songs similar to dj trippie flameboy and Vieze Asbak

Hello my good people,

I have been creating this playlist over many years. Almost 1000 songs right now! Organize the playlist so new songs are at the top and you’ll get new songs almost every day.

Please enjoy! It’s a total labor of love.

Music? Great. Crowd engagement? Huge. She turned the music off for a bit and did this whole beatboxed dubstep routine that was honestly really impressive. It was all just a bit different and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Boogie T was great too obviously :)

i was wondering what happened to goblins from mars and it looks like they haven’t made any new music since 2022, what’s up with them ?

I'm posting this for a friend; they've been trying to find this song for a long time, have already tried the music recognition sites with no luck. It wasn't from YouTube, it was a random fansite which no longer exists so they can't find or contact the creator. They recorded this video on an old iPhone years ago and is the only record they have of this song.

Jame’s Patrick just announce that he’s closing Slam Academy here in Minneapolis. The reason he is doing so me because a chorus of former students and employees speaking of sexual misconduct and sexual harassment at the school have reached a critical mass here in Minneapolis that was unable to be ignored.

It’s not clearly stated in this statement, so to be perfectly clear, the “inappropriate behavior”, the “conduct falling short of professional boundaries” and the “failure” is all James Patrick.

I’m sharing this here simply so that it is on record. As of right now Slam Academy (James Patrick) is still offering a retreat for students to his family’s Mexican home/compound in Cozumel (they recently moved there), and he surely will be continuing to stay active as a teacher in this community under the Slam Academy umbrella. There has not been any indication given to this Minneapolis community that this behavior will continue, nor has there been any accountability taken with the community the victims of his and his wife’s behavior and actions.
