I need a good punchy kick pedal, but I’m a beginner and still suck. What should I get? Open to paying up to $100 if necessary but my kit itself is a CB $80 marketplace find lol

Are Dream Cymbals any good?

I’m looking at buying a cymbal pack and came across Dream brand cymbals. The set I’m looking at is the 4 piece Ignition pack (hi hats, 2 crash and a ride). Are they any good?

Recommendations for my second acoustic kit?

I’ve been playing drums for almost two years now, on a Ludwig Questlove Breakbeats kit. So this will be my first “real” kit. I’m pretty committed to getting better but to do so I’d need a new one.

I’ve found some deals at local drum stores and Guitar Center.
TAMA Rockstar 7 pc kit for $500
TAMA Superstar 4 Peice kit for $624
Pearl Masters 4 pc for $1000
Yamaha Stage custom birch 5 pc for $930

All of these are shell packs with no snare. (The rockstar has a little hardware like a tom mount.)

I’m looking for a versatile kit but mainly want something punchy, and something I can expand without spending a million dollars on a new tom. I might sell the questlove if I buy something over $750. I also have two Sabian B8 cymbals I think I can sell for around $80. Any kit other kit recommendations? My budget is no higher than $1,050. And I know to buy used.

Update: Masters sold already

what's the best way to start drumming?

I want to start drumming in a budget friendly way. Someway I can see if I like it without spending a fortune. I've heard getting a drum pad is a good start? where i currently live i cannot play anything loud and i do not have any secondary locations i could play an actual set.

Hey everyone! I’m a huge Cocteau Twins fan, so this was so fun to recreate! I used Oberheim DX drum samples to recreate the sounds (just like the original). If you haven’t heard the song before, enjoy!

If you like what I’m doing, you can find more videos over on Instagram at deprogrammed_drums 😊

How do I practice kicking?

I just got my electronic drum kit about 3 weeks ago and im really struggling with playing kicks properly and in time

Ive almost learned Metallicas For whom the bell tolls completely, but the one fill where there are a lot of kicks in a row is kicking my ass (pun intended)

I hope to play songs from bands like avenged sevenfold and slipknot one day and they all use double bass, the fastest I can get on a double bass right now is about 80 bpm while barely being able to control it, how should I practice my kick strength and foot coordination to get precise and fast kicks?

What do i do? Theyre haunting me

Ok so im 15 and im a fairly new drummer (been playin for 6 months) abd i just started actually practicing with a metronome. But the problem is after 1 or 2 weeks i started hearing them in the shower, at school and even in my sleep. Everywhere i go theres a fucking metronome following me, even when im listening to music (worst part os the metronome isnt even on time with the music). How do i make it stop, its haunting me.

The transition into the blast beat from this intro is phenomenal. About 25 seconds in is so smooth!

Opinions on Roland TDM-20 rug ?

I own a TD-25. This rug seems very technical and tailor made for a Roland kit (Velcro etc), but the price 👀...

What metronome app do you use, and what's it missing? (Building one, want your input!)

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm working on a metronome app. Before I release it, I'd like to hear from people who actually practice with one every day.

What metronome do you use right now, and what bugs you about it? Is there a feature you keep wishing it had?

Here's what I've built so far:

  •   Multiple bars: chain bars together into longer phrases
  •   Ramp training: the tempo goes up gradually as you practice
  •   Different time signatures per bar: 7/8 into 4/4 into 5/4, no problem
  •   Subdivisions per beat: set each beat on its own (e.g., eighths on beat 1, triplets on beat 3)

Would something like this make you switch? Or is there a dealbreaker feature I haven't thought of?

I'm collecting requests right now, so nothing is off the table. Thanks in advance! 🥁
