Instruments So how'd I do? 60s-70s Knilling 3/4 upright
My 13 year old has been playing upright for 4 years now and needed her own. Almost bought the Shen I'd previously posted, but found this Knilling on Facebook for $2200 shipped. Ad said it may be Hofner factory built (they won't confirm), and some research suggests that's true. It'd been to a luthier a few years ago but not recently, but from a demo video and some photos everything seemed in order. The scratch on the back inside the F hole on the left is a mystery, was there when the seller inherited it from a friend. After much back and forth with the seller, I bit the bullet. This thing is really nice. Might need new strings but I think we may be able to get them from her school. These ones are holding a tune for the time being. Sounds lovely from my half-assed bowing (I played viola a million years ago, so take it with a grain of salt). She'll be home in about an hour to try it herself. What do you guys think, did I do alright? My only gripe is that there's a piece of adhesive felt attached that I need to figure out how to get off without destroying the varnish.
