Let’s talk about mistakes. I tend to make a lot of them. So I’m kinda an expert…..

Don’t fret over the small things, learn from yourself and laugh about it later.

You will be OK. I promise.

Advice One batch of RTV Silicone doesn't cure, deffective kit?

Thumbnail

I'm used to craft silicone molds with this RTV condensation cure (R15). I made my first big order from you on Amazon 2 weeks ago and tried to craft with this 3kg batch these last days. I feel that there is a problem with it because silicone never cures totally. It stays squishy and uncured inside.

I checked the hardener and notice some what appears "dephased" product at the bottom. Would it be the cause? I'm at loss right now and feel that this batch is deffective.

I tried to use another batch of the same silicone and it worked well. Same method, 100:5 ratio (so in my case 200g / 10g, void chamber for removing bubbles)

What do you think?

And if anyone has a tin silicone that works, I would to here about it. I'm sad because this thing is not cheap.

I'm just so proud of these! They turned out so beautiful! I have this tree right by my house. I'm not sure what kind of tree it is but I found these little nettle-like things around it and acorns. I thought they would make a perfect ranger/druid inspired set.

I am very excited both about this song and these dice and had to share. They glow AND are UV reactive! I haven't inked them yet, thinking of a metallic purple ombre to pink like the ribbons.

Follow up on my last post, clear resin bouquet dice from a wedding I went to :) I had to share since I only teased the unfinished clear dice.

Sadly a couple raised faces but they came out great!

New to dice making. Finding a mold troubles

My ignorance lead me to get an Amazon mold. I thought I was to problem until I saw reviews on cheap Amazon molds can be bad.

I saw nano suggested but they seem to not be taking orders right now.

And I am scared of Etsy due to drop shippers using it to pretend their products are hand made. But are actually again from Ali express or Amazon.

Where can I go?

I saw this shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/SpaceBarShop

But again I cannot tell if it is just drop shipping.

I do not feel confident casting my own molds yet either. Not to mention the finding quality masters is another uncertain area for me.

I just don't know who to trust so feel overwhelmed and do not want to be scammed again.

Advice Are these molds a lost cause?

Thumbnail

I made my first set of molds. I used pvc fittings and a pressure pot and as far as I can tell, the tape that I used for the bottom of the molds flexed under pressure, so the molds kind of have an outward push to them. Likewise, the lids are concave. The two casts I have done have had issues (some of which may have not been entirely mold issues). But so far most of the dice have had huge voids and tons of flashing around the edges. Are these beyond saving?

Need advice and help with a project

Hello guys,
Im a 2nd year college student and im really into tabletop rpgs. Me and my DnD group have recently started to tinker with the idea of making our own set and launching it on kickstarter. So we have started to put out surveys and talking with people who can handmake the dice set we are imagining but we do need consumer feedback and info. I mean it when I say that WE would be really grateful if you guys can answer the survey form below and just comment any advice or tips you guys may have.

Advice Having problems with our D20’s

Post image

Hi there! I am brand new at casting dice and am having an issue with a lip on our D20 (it is on the 3 sides of the dice surrounding the 1). What do you think it could be? I just don't want to make the same mistake again when I try to make another mold 😅🥲

Thank you for any help you can give me! 🥹

How long In the pot?

On your general good conditions day, your average 24 hour resin, how long do you think it needs to stay in the pot under pressure, to the point where if you where to de pressurize it from its 30-40 psi that it not cause problems?

I usually leave em in there for the recommended 24 hours, bit longer as its been getting colder, but iv been thinking about efficiency for the future,

e.g put 3 moulds in the pot for 12 hours, take em out, leave them to fully cure, whilst i put another 3 in for the next 12,

Part of me thinks it might not be possible, as sometimes you can leave finger nail marks in dice after about 18 hours, which if there are micro bubbles at 30psi trying to expand, which is car tyre strength, one would have though that could be a bit of a threat, despite being tiny

Figured id ask as my brain tingles when streamlining stuff

Hello Folks,

After about 30 iterations I think I’ve finally landed on what will be the release version of the new Forge Clamps!

All kinds of new features, and a huge QoL update.

Now for the hard part. Writing instructions…. then ….photography… ugh. Haha!

Let me know what you think! I’d love some feedback!

I went through all the Zona papers and polished three times but the face is still cloudy compared to the sides I didn’t polish. Do I do the whole process again? Or just the last two papers? Polishing again doesn’t seem to be helping. Any advice?

Dice Pics Wedding Bouquet dice

Hey everyone, long time dice hobbist and lurker. Finally making a post.

I made these dice using flowers from a bouquet from a wedding my wife was a part of! 🌸

These are my first set, and definitely the roughest of the three, but I still love how they turned out enough to share them! The other two sets were just pulled from their molds, and I’m giving them a couple more days to fully cure before sanding and polishing.

For these, I added a splash of silvery ink throughout to give them a subtle glitter effect. I decided to scrap that idea for the other two sets since I wasn’t quite happy with how it looked. I think keeping the resin clear was the right call.

The picture of the uninked set is the freshly pulled, and actually stuffed with flowers dice.

Advice In Need of Custom Die

So, I have kind of a unique request:

I am planning on proposing to my boyfriend and he ALWAYS wears rings. An engagement ring would be special yes but he has a million and he wears them everyday, I want something a little special.

I have a ring that I got in a size 3 and I want to put it in either a large d20 or a d100 and propose with that. Does anyone know any custom dice sites or people who would be willing to help? I would mail the ring to them and they would mail the die back. I can find my own box and everything, I just need the die!

Any advice would be helpful!

There should be 8 dice in sets, not 7

Polyhedral* die sets consist of seven dice: d4, d6, d8, d10, d%, d12 and d20. But given that the current edition of D&D - the most popular game using such dice - requires eight dice, die sets should contain all eight: d4, d6, d8, d10, d%, d12 and 2d20. The last two are for when you have advantage/disadvantage which happens a lot in the game. Why are sets still only seven dice?

*All physical dice are polyhedral. It’s just a shorthand for the Platonic solid shaped dice plus the d10s.

Hello! So I'm new to the craft and absolutely hooked!

I want to make dice for my dm and my players, I have ideas for all of them except one player:

She plays a brownish-greenish rogue goblin, who likes playing hide and seeks, insects and gold.

What would you guys do for that? I feel like brown dice is...meh? But maybe you guys can spark my flow.

Here's a picture (not yet inked) of the ones I made for the necromancer in our group !

Thank you all!

Question Should all 7 dice in a set look roughly the same size? Or is it normal for some to look way bigger?

Post image
33 Upvotes

Just a quick one guys. I recently 3D printed three sets of dice using three different commonly used size standards, just to see how they'd look and feel in person. But after putting all seven dice side by side, I noticed something that looked a little odd to me. Some dice look way bigger than others, especially the D20. That thing looks like an absolute giant compared to the smaller dice lol. I did look it up and found out that this is actually pretty normal for polyhedral dice sets. But I'm curious, does that size difference ever bother you guys? Will this be better that all seven dice are adjusted to look roughly the same size, even if that means shrinking some of the larger dice?

Thanks!

Advice Help with custom d20

I’m not sure this is the right place for this or not but I’m not sure where else to look (suggestions welcome). My sister plays DnD and I want to get her a custom die made with a cicada shell inside but I don’t know how to go about doing this. Is this something someone in here might be able to do, or direct me somewhere that could?
