I've not seen a ton of discussion about this. I've seen some signs in yards, but that's about it. I wanted to mention it here so people weren't caught off guard by it at the polls, like I almost was!
Here's that it reads:
A proposed initiated law to prohibit campaign contributions from certain regulated utilities and government contractors and apply campaign finance laws and regulations to additional types of political communications
The proposal would:
• Prohibit regulated electric and gas utilities, contractors with over $250,000 annually in government contracts, and people and organizations with substantial connections to these utilities/contractors from making direct or indirect campaign contributions to those who run for or hold offices that impact them.
• Expand laws regulating spending on political communications, including those requiring disclosing donor information, to apply to communications clearly identifying candidates or ballot questions, even if they do not expressly advocate voting for/against them.
• Expressly apply the law requiring disclosure of who paid for political communications to internet political communications.
Should this proposal be adopted?
Per Ballotpedia),
A "yes" vote supports prohibiting certain organizations and individuals—such as regulated electric and gas utilities, contractors with over $250,000 annually in government contracts, and people and organizations with substantial connections to those utilities or contractors—from making direct or indirect contributions to those who run for office, and providing further regulations for campaign finance laws and spending on political communications.
A "no" vote opposes prohibiting certain organizations and individuals—such as regulated electric and gas utilities, contractors with over $250,000 annually in government contracts, and people and organizations with substantial connections to those utilities or contractors—from making direct or indirect contributions to those who run for office, and providing further regulations for campaign finance laws and spending on political communications.
Not a ton of polling on this, but the two polls they listed showed strong support - in the 70% range.
Do you think it's a good measure? Any other down-ballot measures that have caught your eye?

Loony made a scene at TCF during the 2020 count. Mainstream papers are typically bad at following up on stories these days so I was curious if he was ever identified, and also if he plans to go at it again.

Was walking into my apartment with a bag in my hand and my keys FLEW out my hand into this drain right next to my door. I heard them sorta clink and I feel like I can see them at the bottom. I have 0 clue how to get them out.
EDIT:
Thanks for everyone’s suggestions. I found some rope and the end of a hanger. I was able to get my keys out!

Feel free to remove if this kind of post isn’t allowed!
My wife is from the area and she has a lot of friends but I’m from Atlanta so I don’t know many people outside of her friends and family.
Just wondering where would be the best place to meet people!
I’m a videographer by trade and I like making short films, music videos things of that nature and I do a lot of nerd shit. Recommendations on where to meet new people?

It’s usually in mid-November and I hadn’t seen any announcements about it.
So!
I reached out and the kind folks that run The Redford said it’s not happening this year. Deeply unfortunate because I love this event.
I’ll have to drown my sorrows in attending some pretty excellent screenings of other stuff coming up towards the end of the year down there anyway.
Just FYI.

Hi!
I moved to MI a few months ago, and have not gotten an MI license, and I need to register to vote.
I know I will need to register at the clerks office and bring proof of residency, but I have been struggling to get to the clerk’s office in time due to my class schedule. Does this process take long? If I am there by 4pm, would that give me enough time (downtown location closes at 4:30).
I also saw on Bridge Detroit’s website that the clerk’s office would be open this weekend, but I can’t find anymore information on that anywhere. Can anyone confirm?
Thanks so much!!!

Are there any teen Halloween events happening on the 31st? I’m 18 and trans and I’m trying to find something to do for Halloween, preferably something with other queer people and teens. Even just house parties would be cool! I live east, close to Grosse Pointe so stuff downtown and midtown would be easy for me!

Any property management groups or apartments that gross up VA disability … mortgage lenders, do it considering Va disability is completely tax exempt so it’s calculated as take home.
