Campaign Post To be free, we must build it ourselves!

If a free society is what we endeavour for, then we must abolish the cycle of power-switching. Power hoarders will not abolish their own power, and so we must forcibly abolish it through building self-managed systems and destroying the systems of old.

The tyranny will never cease unless we make it.

Campaign Post The Despoetato Platform: What I Will Deliver to the Voter

1. Land Reform.

In season I, a small group of founding figures had strong control over the provinces which intimidated smaller players and made it harder for new players to get involved in provincial politics. To solve this I will destroy class inequality by passing a law giving EVERYONE their own province. These provinces will have complete political freedoms (apart from swearing fealty to the national government ofc) and will be able to wear armour and fight their neighbours over territory. Some "critics" may call this neo-feudalism. I call it class equality where everyone is an aristocratic landowner.

2. Democratic Reform

The legislature will have 2,699 seats for almost every user both active and inactive. Laws will be passed through a game of musical chairs with each seat being removed every round. By the end of the game, whoever is sitting on the last seat gets to dictate legislation for the next three days. Just as Marx intended.

3. Nationalize the Moderation Team

The moderation team will be nationalized by the state. All current moderators will be considered property of the people and will also have to give 10% of themselves to the workers. Arms, legs, and tails are considered acceptable payment (we'll glue it all back together when the workers can be trusted with public ownership).

4. Voting Rights for the Aliens

They have not visited us yet, but once I am elected they will realize the intellectual superiority of the median voter and will come down to visit us. When they do, we should let them vote. Just as Lenin said: "We're gonna vote vote vote it's our moment".

5. Teach Everyone how to spell "Borjwarzee"

No further explanation needed

Vote for u/despoetato in your upcoming legislative elections!

Campaign Post A message from your lone Sane Conservative Legislator

As I wake up early and look upon the DoR, all I can say is this:

There aren’t enough true Conservatives here. A true Conservative doesn’t care about your gender, religion, race, creed. We all know that the true measure of your worth is how anti Liberal you are.

Communists (borsch liberals) and leftists (spicy liberals) all want the same thing. To be true Conservatives. They wish they hated themselves as much as we at CHUD hate liberals.

Soon, I will release the biggliest and best bills to have ever grace the DoR. I will conserve our great culture of unfettered capitalism and freemen. The State should not own your livelihood. They should not hold violence over your heads based on your views and beliefs. This is why I, the head CHUD was elected. To protect the people from the tyranny of liberals.

Campaign Post Softball Questions Asked By Definitely Real People

Post image
8 Upvotes

Here are some questions that definitely real, not made up, voters have asked me on the campaign trail that I will answer for the public today:

"Have you read the constitution?"

not enough pictures

"What would you demand of the current administration?"

sell me this pen

"What are your intentions with my legislature?"

birthing more seats

"How do you intend to bring down the current establishment?"

a 3.4 million dollar grant from my trust fund family

"What will you attempt to introduce into the assembly?"

tricknology

Campaign Post In a country where parties are pushing the Totalitarian Ideologies of Mao and Lenin...

...we must push for democracy twice as hard. With candidates calling for revolution, we must call for civic participation. I advise any democratic socialist, social democrat, liberal, progressive, environmentalist, syndicalist, feminist, libertarian, and ask yourself, are the differences between your ideologies enough to warrant risking the democracy of our country? We must be United under a common banner. Doing so will make sure that we are strong as Iron and will come out in front. Join the United Iron Front to turn the tide, defeat authoritarianism and reclaim the promise of a true democracy!

Question What is this place?

I think a lot of people have open-ended questions about what kind of game this is supposed to be, whether it should even be a game, what mechanics should be added, where the economy is going, and so on. I see users coming back to debate, this place being its vibrant self again.

But I think we've gotten lost in the weeds. And how do we not repeat past mistakes.

Underneath all the mechanics, the legislation, the economics, and the LARP, this is fundamentally an election simulator built around a subreddit.

And I don't mean a bunch of friends sectioned off into separate Discord servers, each running their own little corner of the game. I mean a place where we post our silly little political tests, share funny memes, debate politics, and interact with one another, much like any other subreddit.

The difference is that an elected government runs the subreddit, holds regular elections, and is accountable to the community.

Yes, we can LARP. We can pass bills, make posters, establish a justice system, build economic models, and introduce all sorts of interesting mechanics. I'm not arguing that we should get rid of those things. They're part of what makes this community unique.

But I think last time, we reached a point where we treated the mechanics as the purpose of the community, rather than as tools to make it a hangout spot for fringe or radical views.

We should be able to share memes without everything becoming political drama. We should be able to debate ideas without every disagreement turning into a struggle over who gets to wield power. We should be able to participate casually without feeling like we need to dedicate hours every day to legislation, economic policy, and party politics to remain relevant.

And most importantly, we shouldn't feel like every election is an existential battle over the future of the subreddit.

Because at the end of the day, this is still a subreddit. The government is here to administer it, the elections are here to determine who gets to administer it, and the game mechanics are here to give us something fun to do along the way.

The government should exist to serve the subreddit, not the subreddit to serve the government.

Before we spend months arguing over economic systems, constitutional reforms, or whatever new mechanic someone wants to introduce, I think we need to ask ourselves a much simpler question:

What do we actually want this place to be?

Because if we lose the community in our attempt to perfect the simulation, then what exactly are we simulating?

Food security doesn't come from government officials deciding how much grain farmers should produce, where it should go, and what it should cost.

It comes from giving farmers the freedom to grow, sell, invest, and compete.

When grain prices rise, farmers have an incentive to increase production. When one region suffers a bad harvest, traders can bring grain in from somewhere else. Competition encourages better storage, transportation, and more efficient farming.

A centralized grain monopoly puts all those decisions in the hands of bureaucrats. Get the harvest forecasts wrong, set prices too low, or mismanage distribution, and suddenly the entire country is paying for one department's mistakes.

Food security requires flexibility, not five-year plans.

Let farmers own their land. Let them sell their harvests freely. Let merchants compete to transport and distribute grain. Remove unnecessary barriers to agricultural trade and encourage private investment in storage and infrastructure.

Government still has a role in maintaining emergency grain reserves, enforcing food safety standards, and responding to genuine shortages. But it shouldn't be deciding every farmer's production quotas or dictating where their harvest goes.

A resilient food system needs multiple producers, competing distributors, diverse suppliers, and the freedom to respond when conditions change.

The state should protect the food supply, not monopolize it.

Freedom to farm. Freedom to trade. Food security through competition.
