Deleuze! Žižek’s apophatic parallax vs. Deleuze’s freaky productive or ‘comedic’ parallax
My problem with Žižek, as with any pre-Deleuze or anti-Deleuze thinker, is that he is still pathologically majoritarian. His parallax refers to the intersection of contradictions, which aims at settling at the unknowable “gap” at the end of the day.
Deleuze doesn’t seek to secretly reconcile differences with this kind of metaphysical suture, as I’d put it: the parallax is like an eternal spring of freakiness, for me. Awkward yet festive. No transcendental gaze, just comics or clowns.
There’s no great “gap” because there’s no Levinasian psuedo-theological alterity as the object of knowledge to begin with. Only effects of clashing perspectives without a background to rule over them. And it’s meant to be fun.
I don’t have the energy or time to do a whole organized essay, just throwing this clue for y’all - feel free to parallax it.
