Oh great vid cut it off just before the most powerful moment.

Just so everybody knows, what you've posted here is also included in the post. I was also annoyed that the longer vid didn't include this part, but I thought the context of the longer part was important as a set-up.

Ahhh got you. All I see is a preview of the first vid and a url to the second. So naturally I assumed the preview and url was the same thing.

Reddit can be a bitch. But thank you for reminding me of such an underrated, powerful and poignant scene in ds9

I don't think we should strive to do exactly what this vedek did... Seems counterproductive.

True, there are many ways to oppose evil, and what is shown in the clip is just one.

The Vedek was unaware of the true power and philosophy the Dominion weilded. Cardassians may be oppressive rulers, but the Dominion would be more than happy to completely genocide the Bajoran people and/or engineer some type of bio-weapon to afflict the populace forever.

I think she was well aware of that. I just don't think her decision of killing herself was a good way to fix anything.

Yeah, and the new resistance she inspired accomplished basically nothing except getting Ziyal killed.

And disabling the weapons so Defiant could get to the wormhole.

It's kind of late now. the election is over . evil has total control over every branch of the government in a few months

The point is it's never too late to oppose. The moral imperative is to oppose, always.

The Cardassians and Dominion were already occupying DS9 by this point.

Even Kira was being an apologist collaborator.

But she changed her mind and took action, and it made a difference.

It took a life to wake her up.

Vedek Yassim is such an underappreciated figure in the Dominion War

A quintessential DS9 scene.

“You’re still mad about that Pope on a Rope joke, aren’t you?”

This whole sequence really jolted me during the rewatch. I had forgotten how it turns out because it had been so long. Super effective story elements here, for me.

This is another quote I regularly use in addition to, "but you exist here."

Powerful scene, with great relevance in these trying times! I only wish the video was a few minutes longer with the aftermath.
