Question Which characters are support characters good for beginers?

• Upvotes

Hi, I am a relatively new player (less then 10 hours in) without prior moba experience and I want to try some more characters that are mainly supportive.

When I played hero shooters I tended to gravitate towards healers and supports, and despite this being a moba I think I might do better in these characters over frontliners.

So far only one I tried is Nurse Harrow, and I think I do perform better with her over Infernus and Graves and Mina and Haze who I also played with in regular matches but I am not sure if thats because she is overtuned (as far as I heard from this sub) and any player would be better with her.

Question Getting Jumped In Lane, How To Stop Feeding?

• Upvotes

Hey y'all, had a very specific type of question I don't see addressed a lot in the various tip videos I see online. Wanted to ask it here to hopefully get some advice on this type of scenario...

So I'm trash at the game, coming from hero shooters, only played a few matches so far, and I do alright, but I'm very very much learning. Had this ABYSMAL game that was so unfun that I ended up DCing early, which I hate being a bad sport and doing, but I couldn't figure out what else to do.

I was playing BeBop, first game as him, laned with Vindicta on my side, up against a Mina and Celeste. Everything was mostly fine at first, but it became very evident very quickly the Mina/Celeste were in close and active comms as they'd suddenly both get hyper-aggressive and go for picks on me, dumping abilities till I'm dead. I tried to play conservatively, but they'd extend past the wave, and even past the guardian just to chase me down.

I'd do my best to escape, go on the offensive with a hook, bomb, uppercut combo, but after a few deaths and attempts, nothing was working and my attempts at offense were basically like throwing pillows at them- I just couldn't move their healthbars despite landing my attacks. Now- I don't know what my Vindicta was doing, she was usually out of sight behind me, but I don't want to just assume she was playing around and shift the blame onto her for my failings. Toward the end it was ridiculous, I had fed so much it was a no-win battle.

So my question is- What should I do? When your lane opponents are communicating and coordinated, hard-focusing you, and refusing to stop pushing once they latch onto you, what's the move? Should I "abandon" my lane to switch with a team member, making it their problem? Should I pick waves from a distance then try to just farm camps/boxes and ignore the enemy players for a while to try and beef myself up more?

Out of my handful of games, this is the only time something like this has happened, and backing up to play more conservatively usually is enough to save myself- but these two were clearly experienced and I was just at a loss at what to do.

Discussion My "farming time" is just doing sinners

• Upvotes

You're very likely to get into a game where noone clears them. I see my team passing by them, going to fight, retreating and the victorious team which is pushing forward, also skips over them. Forgetting about them also applies to people who I see completely stomp and have godly movement tech, much better than mine xd

That's why whenever I have some free farming time, I usually need to be doing sinners so they aren't wasted, and punching heavy boxes alongside the path. I blame their small icon on the minimap that makes them forgetable. For a rather long time I also didn't know these "X"s represent them, lol as I didn't get into the minimap's details

I also think they might be pretty boring, for example when I'm doing them, usually some fight already starts to brew and most of people will leave their farming and go help there asap, and prefer to chase enemies around their jungle and they are more likely to start pushing if they are winning. which is ofc following the philosophy of "doing objectives", which just don't happen to include sinners of sacrifice.

Btw. it was a problem for me, because I was often near a sinner and some fight was just happening, I didn't know what to do, in most of good games I've seen on youtube, these would be already cleared before the fight and having a whole jungle full of sinners and a teamfight at the same time was very rare 😂 Untill I saw a gameplay video where a good player also passed over one to help the team, and then went back to do it, so I'm usually helping my team first.

This isnt something negative for me, because main carries can get their solo souls on waves and I can get them from sinners and the area above the midboss/under the midlane, which is also something that I'm often doing when a fight above me is already taking place and I need to clear it asap and go help my random friends. Ofc I need to be careful to not die with a ball of 800 souls, I usually need to go the shop to buy something after it.

About the Bell Tower, it's a different story. I was wondering where the famous tower is, I've heard abut it spoken on youtube and its famous fights. However, I was thinking it was some electrical tower of GRAHAM BELL, given the time period XDD I think people were randomly falling into the purple mist, and thus, boxes and sinners here were taken way more often, but then I heard the Bell means Bell lol, which I've never heard in game yet. Then, I was following a path of sinners in my jungle and I see icons, Im like - where they are? They are somewhere here, it shows on the map..... and I finally found the rope going to the tower and discovered how it even looks like xdd I quickly done one sinner, one box and I jumped down scared, I went away before anyone could find me. Next game I went up and I was ready, I posted 6 turrets around the entrance and I was clearing everything here, waiting for a poor soul to go up... BUT NOONE SHOWED UP, and I didn't have turret charges for the nearby fight on mid =,= Yeah, that's when I discovered noone is showing up to fight over these. So next game, I just went up and I didnt bother with placing any turrets, I thought noone will come..... and that's just when I got ganked by Billy, yeah this was finally the game when enemies knew about the tower and were contesting it, woops.. To end on a funny note, I'm not actually sure if any of my allies ever went up the tower themselves.. yeah, I think a carry character from my team one time went up there....... only once over the period of many games 😂 And in that one game with Billy, Lash from my team also went up one time to help me with Yamato when I visited it a second time xd

Question Best video for introducing someone new to the game?

• Upvotes

After months of shilling, I've finally managed to get some of my friends to start playing Deadlock with me. We've currently just been playing Street Brawl, and it's been fun, but Street Brawl gets kinda tiresome and repetitive after a while and I've been itching for some Standard, but I also don't want to constantly explain what everything is/babysit two of my teammates for 40 minutes. Does anyone have any recommendations for like a video that comprehensively explains how to play the MOBA mode? Like the overall structure of a match, what macro is, farming and when to do it, the different side objectives, etc. Basically just something I can assign as homework 😅 It'd be much appreciated.

Question How to have more fun while farming?

• Upvotes

I can see the vision behind the npc mobs but at least the way I've been playing, every time farming plays out the exact same, no matter the character nor does it change from round to round. Running looking for boxes etc. Locked up in the same tiny rooms with the same monsters that either, offer no challenge or I do no damage against till mid / late game when they again offer no challenge just stand there tanking damage. Am I just bad at fighting them? Should I go for level III mobs right from the early game? Often I'm saving up abilities for 1v1s (at least the better ones) so maybe that's unwise too. Generally I guess my question is am I doing something wrong and is there a way to diversify the farming part of the game while playing?

I hope they add more variety to the npc mobs either way.

Question Trust the cube, please

• Upvotes

Viscous main here. This will sound like a salty rant, but it isn't. I want to understand how players are used to playing this game so I can be a better support.

Why do dps players have such a hard time trusting the cube? I am constantly seeing people under 50% health in the mid game, but when I lut them in the cube, they just leave it before healing, dive and die.

The cube long cooldown. You need to cherish the cube, it is the difference between a good and bad dive most of the time.

That or players in the early game just deed dive past the guardian, I can't follow them because of how squishy I am and I end up holding a lane alone against fed enemies.

Is there anything obvious I am doing wrong? I have been trying to dive with the dps in the early game ( when close enough to our guardian that I can retreat) to disrupt them for him and try to keep them alive, but I feel like I am not being able to get my build working if I do so because of a lack of farming.

Question Which of the new heroes are you the happiest to go up against in a match?

• Upvotes

I'm one of the newheads that came with the latest update and have been trying out a bunch of different characters to see who I wanna start trying to learn, make builds for, etc. I like all the new heroes a lot but it seems like they're all at least a little bit overtuned/salt-inducing. Are there any that people are more fine with than others?

Game Feedback New player opinions

• Upvotes

I have been playing now for a little over two weeks and have been lurking in the forum a little bit longer. And while I've greatly enjoyed most of my games I have to say there is one thing that's been bothering me.

The lack of actual ritual in the gameplay.

The big reason I decided to join the game was the occult noir direction they decided to take it. And while the background lore and art design follow that, the actual mechanics of the game fall short.

While I don't follow Hermetic or Gnostic teachings personally, I do love reading and understanding them, and was hoping that would show up in the game beyond surface level aesthetics.

I think what I'm getting at is that the game tells me I'm participating in a ritual, but mechanically I'm participating in a MOBA match that happens to have a ritual lable attached to it.

And I don't necessarily mean that I want the game to be more complicated, or that I want every character to have some elaborate spellcasting system. I just want the supernatural premise to feel like it's actually influencing the things I'm doing.

The souls, the Patrons, the Maelstrom, all of these are interesting concepts that could make the gameplay feel distinct from other games in the genre. But right now, I don't feel like I'm engaging with those concepts in any meaningful way beyond collecting souls, competing for fairly standard objectives, and eventually killing the enemy Patron.

What interests me about occult traditions isn't just the symbolism or the imagery. It's the idea of power being tied to knowledge, transformation, preparation, and the relationship between the individual and something greater than themselves.

I was hoping Deadlock might explore some of that through its mechanics.

Even something relatively simple could go a long way toward making the ritual feel like an actual process that the players are participating in, rather than a narrative explanation for why two teams are fighting.

I don't know exactly what that would look like mechanically, and I'm not suggesting the game needs to abandon its MOBA foundations. I just think the setting has a lot more potential than what the gameplay currently communicates.

I'm curious if anyone else feels the same way, or if there's something about the mechanics that I'm missing that makes the ritual feel more present to them.

She only has a pocket nuke on her 1, hold CTRL to escape/chase on 2, point-n-click stun with little counterplay and skill requirement, as well as shitload of sustain and a drop-n-forget "I win the teamfight" ult.

Performance & Tech-Support Game freezing, what to do?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Every few seconds the game freezes, and I don't know what it could be. I've tried running as administrator, switching to ethernet, turning my router on and off... even reinstalling the game.

Thing is, I was able to play normally two days ago. Since yesterday the game has been unplayable and I don't know what it could be or what to do to fix it.

I would be so hyped if they added a 6400 item upgrade for stamina mastery, maybe it lowers your gravity or allows more air jumps or something.

Fan Art (OC) Meranda - DEADLOCK OC

Post image

Abilities • Story • Voicelines, are soon to be posted

This is my last oc, really going outside my comfort zone because this skin color is not very me lmao

Sneak peak i guess on this character; one of her abilities is to teleport to one of the 4 sewers spreaded in the map. (Not including the middle lane)

Walk with me here,,,,picture the map and you're using this character and you see her sewers...

Sewer 1: Top-left walker.

Sewer 2: Top-right walker.

Sewer 3: Bottom-left walker.

Sewer 4: Bottom-right walker.

So basically Meranda can freely teleport between these four sewer locations, letting her move across the map unpredictably disappearing into one sewer and emerge from another to ambush enemies, escape a fight, or help her teammates from unexpected angles or just aura farm idk.

I dont have her storyline yet, could you help me out? Hell you could bring me ideas to her abilities too why not, I'll take notes.

Question Rank placement question

Post image
• Upvotes

Does anyone have any idea how placements put people, i ask because i have played for a long time and my win rate is quite positive so when i finally did ranked i won 7/8 games but i get put in stone rank. By itself i wouldnt care but my friend who has a much worse win rate, plays less and told me himself he lost most his placements got Mystic VI. I don't understand how that makes any sense. Just curious if anyone else has a similar experience.

Edit:I can also screenshot the calibration games, in each one of the 7/8 i had won i pulled a lot of my teams weight as well.

Complaint I dont understand guardians/walkers

• Upvotes

hi! im a new deadlock player and only have MAYBE 40 hours on the game, but im familiar with hero shooters and LoL so I understand the fundamentals of the game to a certain extent. the one thing i dont understand is guardian/walker aggro 😭 ive had there be multiple instances where im tower dove and the tower never ends up aggroing them. it genuinely just feels like the towers in this game are purely cosmetic. Are they SUPPOSED to aggro enemies if they damage a player within their range? or are they functioning as intended?
