the concealed carry of cycling

Hey - I'm Cody, Boise dude that never loved the lycra kit look on my casual road and gravel rides, but was tired of being confined to only bibs or a pack if I decided not to wear a jersey.

So I spent about 14 months tinkering and ended up filing for a patent.

It's got a sleeveless internal jersey that's connected to an outer snap button shirts. The side seam is breakaway with sewn in magnets the snap the outer shirt shut automatically when you remove your hand.

I successfully launched it on Kickstarter earlier this year with my brand Rowdee - but we've been all mtb and gravel so far. With bike tourers also loving it.

I'd love to hear what you guys think.

Would you rock this on a social ride?

I feel a bit geeky in my cycling outfit

I'm new to cycling and don't have a lot of experience wearing cycling clothing. Would getting a white helmet help things here? Or, do I look 'normal' and shouldn't worry about it?

Does anyone else find MAAP’s design expression to be lazy?

Does anyone else find MAAP’s approach to design a bit hollow, even lazy?

They clearly have the talent and resources to do something interesting, but so much of their visual identity seems to revolve around repeating their own brand name in different typefaces and arrangements.

We’ve all heard that “MAAP is the new Rapha,” but I think the comparison reveals something interesting.
At its best, Rapha draws on the history, culture, and romance of cycling to create products that feel connected to something beyond the brand itself.

Not everything needs a deep story of course, but I do wish MAAP had more to say than its own name repeated over and over again.

First kit ($32 Aliexpress special, DAREVIE)

Actually fits and looks quite nice (imo). Pretty impressed with the quality for the price ($32). Planning on buying more.

For reference:

- Height: 5'11"

- Weight: 200 lbs

- Size: Asian XXL

DAREVIE Jersey

It looks a little tight, maybe a little short in the arms, so maybe I'll go up a size? The bunching on the back is mainly from the rear pockets, I think.

Still waiting for my YKYWBIKE bibs to come in. Bought two tiers, $90 and $60.

To all my fellow bald cyclists…

Would you risk this helmet with such huge opening at the top?
I generally suffer from sweat dripping on my eyes so I would appreciate the nice cooling flow, but I am not sure to be ready for the funky tan lines on my scalp!

[Question] Does anyone here have experience with bright colours for winter riding?

I really like the look of these light coloured bib tights, but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger with regards to mud and rain in winter and autumn? Are these just ruined after one ride?

Pas Normal Studios x Enough Cycling Italia Jersey - WTB

Hi all,

I'm trying to track down the Pas Normal Studios x Enough Cycling Italia jersey from 2024, ideally in a size Large.

I've been keeping my beady eye on eBay and Vinted for quite a while now, but haven't had any luck finding one so turning to the power of Reddit...

Appreciate a bit of a long shot, but thought I'd try my luck here in case anyone has one they're willing to part with or knows where I might find one.

Happy to consider new or used, provided it's in good condition. I'm based in the UK but happy to arrange international shipping.

Cheers!

What makes a club kit look “pro” vs homemade?

I design cycling kits for clubs and small brands, and I keep seeing the same pattern: some club kits look straight out of the peloton, others look like a sponsor logo dump.

Curious what you all think makes the difference. Is it fewer colors? Fewer sponsor logos? Matching bibs? Something else?

And what’s the worst kit design mistake you’ve seen on a group ride?

Can't choose between van rysel EDR and ykywbike bib shorts

I'm just getting into cycling and I can't decide at all between ykywbike (the basic bibs) or van rysel also looking at the siroko aspen and the black bibs. I'm looking to buy 2 pairs as a beginner since I know I will stick to cycling because I am a runner before I got injured. The thing is if I buy the basic ykywbike bibs I can also get 2 jerseys for 20€ more than if I chose van rysel but I also don't wanna spend 120€ and those bibs be useless after 2 washes because I am a 15y/o who is using a big chunk of his savings to start cycling.

Any advice is welcome!!! Thanks
