GSOC Commentators

I know that currently John Cullen is the main play by play commentator but if I remeber correctly there was somone different last year and I am wondering who it was becuase this year there is no Kmart or Mike Harris?. Thoughts

GSOC has transitioned from a Sportsnet production to a in house The Curling Group produced TV feed that they can sell internationally to ESPN, DAZN etc. They decided not to hire Kevin and Mike for whatever reason and promote some of their team like John and Brent to the main feed.

This is correct.

Mike Harris did appear in CBC's studio segments that they added around the GSOC global coverage used for live action.

Up to and including last year, the GSOC broadcasts were produced by SportsNet, using SportsNet on air talent. Starting this year, that is no longer the case. Broadcasts are being produced by GSOC’s own, in house production team, using on air talent hired by the GSOC. Rob Faulds retired, and Harris and Kmart were not retained.

Darren Dupont is the other main commentator now (teamed with Joanne Courtney and Brad Gushue — IMO, a great combination; John was with Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing). Darren's worked as a producer for the Slams and has commentated Saskatchewan's provincials the last few years.

If you have a Rock Channel sub, there's a multi-sheet livestream with one commentator available for each draw. Tyler George and Chelsea Carey, both of whom helped commentate on Rock Channel's livestreams previously, have done that one. As has a guy named Gareth Wheeler (not familiar with him).

That all said, you may be thinking of Rob Faulds, who retired from broadcasting over the summer.

Gareth wheeler has been a commentator mostly for soccer broadcasts on OneSoccer and TSN. He is an a hole though imo

Gareth Wheeler is primarily a soccer guy who has done a lot of TFC and CANMNT in the past.

Cullen is ROUGH. Always 3 steps behind, every shot is “chance to get 3-4 rocks moving here”

Darren, Joanne and Brad. So knowledgeable and also important is they are so pleasing to the ear. The other three might know their stuff but are hard to listen to.
