Question Insurance for multiple needs

We’re traveling with us and our 5 kids. Four of us live in California in 2 different households, 3 in Nebraska. On the ship we’ll be split across 3 cabins.

I’m trying to figure out what insurance will cover the cost of the trip for all of us if,

  1. the Nebraska crew has flight issues and miss the ship (they’re booked to fly Friday, sail Sunday, the rest of us are driving)

  2. the active duty military member has his leave canceled

  3. all the usual stuff like hurricanes, major illness

I’m mostly worried about it all being covered with us split across 2 states and 3 cabins, like if the Nebraska kids miss the sailing can we get a refund for the a California group too?

    Thank you!

Others may have better experience than I do, but my recommendation would be to reach out to travel insurance agencies like Allianz and chat with their customer service to describe your situation. They may be able to help you find a policy that will cover your needs.

It's possible it may have to be purchasing a policy per-household, plus the active-duty military member. But again, with your situation not being the same as mine, maybe others will have better advice. That's just what I could advise.

My very first cruise is next year and I just went ahead and sprang for the top-tier policy with Allianz which covers medical, travel emergencies, cancellations, replacement of property, and even offers some legal help.

Talk to Allianz. Each separate household might require their own policy. Not sure how it works if 1 person is paying for everyone. The Nebraska group flying in 2 days early should be fine. We've had flight delays, but always fly in the day before. Eating a stress-free casual breakfast while waiting to board is well worth the cost of a hotel. It's our favorite precruise ritual.
