WARNING: Do not buy prescription glasses from Amevista.
Amevista’s return practices for prescription glasses are predatory and insanely difficult.
TLDR- (too long didn’t read/abstract)
I spent $400usd (CHF 334.76) on prescription glasses I cannot wear. After nearly three months of back-and-forth, Amevista acknowledged the frame problem, and it not being my fault, but still provided no meaningful resolution or refund. As of October 28, I have received CHF 0 back.
I ordered my glasses on August 6. After nearly three months of emails, photographs, professional adjustments and laboratory review, I am left with $400 glasses that I cannot wear and $0 refunded.
Details:
The lenses and frame caused severe pressure, pain, bruising, redness and sores on my nose. I had them professionally adjusted multiple times, but they remained unbearable.
Amevista reviewed my photos and its own team acknowledged that the frame were unwearable, and that no further adjustments would work.
Amevista also admitted that this problem could not have been identified before purchase.
Despite that, Amevista refused to provide a resolution. Its normal policy excludes prescription glasses from returns, and after weeks of back-and-forth, it offered to refund only the ~$200 frame. I accepted, despite losing the ~$200 cost of the prescription lenses, and paying the return shipping and adjustment costs myself.
After acknowledging that the glasses were not wearable, but finally having some resolution. Last minute, Amevista then added another condition.
Amevista still found a technical excuse not to honor even its partial-refund offer.
I spent almost $400 (334.76chf) on glasses I cannot wear and received nothing back. If I had known how predatory and unfair Amevista’s return practices were, I would never have ordered from them.
Do not buy prescription glasses from Amevista. Even when the company acknowledges that the glasses cannot be worn, it may use any available technicality to avoid refunding you.
