NOTE: Simple Shot Timer is open source and non profit. just for the community
FINALLY!
thanks to a supporter I found through my recent post, I got my hands on a Macbook and an iPhone. I was able to finish developing and publishing the iOS version.
For those who haven't seen any of my posts yet, here is a quick recap:
5 months ago I've made a post here introducing an app alternative to a shot timer. The goal of this project was to get a decent modern app with all the capabilities of a simple shot timer (e.g. PACT Club Timer III) and make it available for free, no ads, no data collection, no account needed. The project itself is open source, you can find the whole source code on my GitHub Repository. It is just a project by the community for the community. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the project.
At first I was able to publish the android version only. It has now over a 1.3k installs and a lot of positive feedback. This motivated me to finish the iOS version too. And now it is finally ready for everyone to download and enjoy!
I would really appreciate it if you guys could rate the app on the appstore and tell friends about it. Because my next project for the shooting community will be announced by the end of this year hopefully! Stay tuned 🔥
As always, if you guys have any feedback, ideas or anything, please let me know either here on reddit or open a github issue or text me on discord (@nnclovin)
This app is not going to replace shot timers compeletly. It is limited to the smartphone hardware, so it can't reach the level of a decent timer. It is just a solid alternative, if you don't want to spend 100+ USD just for a timer. Or if you forgot yours at home.
Just from downloading and playing around with it for 5 minutes, it seems like it will be able to do a lot of what I need for dry fire (easy to set par times, repeating starts, keep the screen from sleeping.) I'll be using it, thank you!
I was thinking of creating a "playlist" in which you could add your saved drills and add either random delay between each drill or a fixed delay. That might also fulfil your wish too, no?
Huge achievement! 🙌 It’s awesome to see your dedication to making this project accessible to everyone. Open source projects built for the community are always great to see. Congrats on the iOS release! 🚀
I’m sure Claude’s 30sec marketing piece is nice. I’m talking about a demo. Using the product, not watching videos that Claude made to explain what it theoretically does.
I've been using this app for a couple weeks for my dryfire. it's great, though unfortunately the sound of my safety disengaging is pretty much exactly the same as my trigger pull. it's no big deal I can look at my strings and tell what is what, but I wonder if there's any value in being able to remove "shots" from a string of fire. honestly I probably wouldn't bother but it was something I was hoping to be able to do that I couldn't. another poster mentioned random start on repeat reps and that would be nice.
last thing... maybe it's hardware related my phone has been kind of buggy in general but when I have repeated reps, the last rep never records properly. it appears to be adding my delay time to my shots on the last rep. I wonder if anyone else is having this issue or maybe my phone is janky.
Hey. I understand your skepcism towards AI development. Ofc I could have developed everything myself, but it would have just taken 10-20x more time and it would have been stupid to limit myself and not deliver a good product. The identity of a software engineer has changed and no one really should code manually, because you simply cant keep up. I am a Lead Software Engineer at Tesla, so I could assume I know what I am talking about.
Again, I understand your concerns and I know there is a lot of AI slop apps and websites out there, that are useless. I can assure you tho I have put a lot of work and dedication into this.
Give it a try and let me know :)
My goal is to offer valuable features for the community for free! ACTUALLY free!
Would it be possible to add a repeat feature for the Par timer? So that basically it resets and you can keep repeating a drill without having to pull out the phone again
