????? Should I take both CompTIA Network+ and Security+ before the end of 2026, or spend more time preparing?

Hi everyone,

I’m a B.Tech graduate in Computer Science and Information Technology, specialising in Cyber Security. I completed my degree from 2022 to 2026.

I’m planning to get my CompTIA Security+ certification, but since the newer version is expected to be released on November 17, 2026, I’m considering taking CompTIA Network+ first and then Security+.

My goal is to earn both certifications before the end of 2026. Since exam scheduling needs to be done in advance, I’m trying to figure out whether this is a realistic plan or whether I should take more time to prepare.

I’ve gone through the Network+ syllabus and exam objectives, and I feel fairly confident about my chances of passing. I’m considering it as a way to refresh my networking fundamentals while also earning an additional certification before attempting Security+.

I’d like to hear your opinions on a few things:

- Is it a good idea to pursue both Network+ and Security+ within this timeframe?

- Would having both certifications be worthwhile for a cybersecurity fresher, or would it be better to focus my time and effort on Security+ alone?

- Given that I feel confident about Network+, should I go ahead and schedule the exam, or spend more time preparing before booking it?

- Is earning both certifications before 2027 a realistic goal, considering the preparation required and the upcoming Security+ version change?

I’d appreciate honest advice, especially from people who have taken these exams or work in the cybersecurity industry.

Thanks in advance!

S+ Question Security+ study suggestion

I've been studying on and off for the security+ for months now, but I have trouble sticking to it and I feel like that is because I'm going about it in a boring way. I have the Dion Udemy course that only has 1 practice test. Other than that I've been using Gemini to help me with practice questions and listening to a security+ acronyms podcast everyday on my way to work (which I thought would subconsciously absorb, but I'm too focused on driving).

Is there a trick for those who tend to be undisciplined in studying for this exam? It just seems like so much to get through. Preferably a way that will prepare me to sit in for the exam in 3 weeks.

Hi friends

I said i was done but this one i thought i get for fun and I think might be relevant for the future since AI is just mostly just glorified data, no data no AI. No i don't want to specialize. If i do and AI eats that up, screwed. I want to be more well rounded like a good MMA fighter with no weaknesses. A good striker often get ass kicked by grappler, vise versa. Shoutout to [Insert country that's protesting because of education]. I feel ya i believe education should be free too. But rather that rioting, ya'll could have stayed home and taught yourself for free while eating a chocolate croissant or loads of cheese like me.

My thoughts:
This one is a bit hard because there is a little bit of code language. I don't recommend it for most people because you should be focusing on important stuff and start small. This seems less about IT and more generic for business analyst ect.

My material:
Data+ study guide i found on Amazon.

What's next:
Nothing! Really this time.

My motivation:
I don't want a stupid job where I have to work extremely hard and be tired after work because a mediocre manager doesn't know how to distribute workloads while thinking they're hot stuff because they're working for a brand. I want to get paid enough to gym 4 hours a day, eat all the cheese I want, and be Goku. I don't even care what job I get work ain't my identity and your role eventually will be obsolete in a hundred years. You proud of yourself then you do you.

As someone trying to get into IT with a background in CompSci and building PC's growing up, I hope this is a step in the right direction to being able to work in the field! Gotta make sure to take things one step at a time, and get certified first though haha.

My main study materials were Mike Meyers' course and Jason Dion's practice exams, both on Udemy. Hoping to keep this momentum going into Core 2, Net+, and Sec+!

Good luck to everyone preparing for their exams! We're all going to make it, believe it!

S+ Question Sec + Domain specific questions

I'm doing professor Messer's course and I'm taking Dion's practice tests but I'd like to find a site that has domain based quizzes. I want to be able to take a focused quiz rather than an entire 90 minute test each time I want to practice.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
