Do US community colleges actually issue .edu emails to non-degree or fully-online out-of-state students?
I'm outside the US and I keep running into student verification walls, so I'm trying to figure out whether there's a legitimate route to a US .edu address rather than a workaround.
Here's what I've already checked, so I don't just get the obvious answers back:
- Both the OpenAI and Google student offers run through SheerID. SheerID's own FAQ says you need to be "currently enrolled in educational classes for which you can earn credit towards a diploma, degree or professional license." If automatic matching fails, they ask for a school-issued document showing your name, the school name, and a date proving current enrollment — student ID with an expiry date, class schedule, or tuition receipt.
- So the .edu address itself doesn't seem to be what gets approved; the enrollment record behind it does. I've seen people say their .edu was rejected because their school wasn't in SheerID's database.
- Google also appears to re-verify partway through the 12 months, so passing once isn't the end of it.
What I'd actually like to know:
- Are there US community colleges that enroll out-of-state or international students in fully online courses at low cost, and issue a working .edu address as soon as you register — not just at acceptance?
- Do non-degree-seeking or non-credit students get a student email at your school, or is it credit-seeking only?
- Has anyone here actually cleared SheerID as a part-time or non-degree community college student? Which school, and did it go through automatically or did you have to upload documents?
- Do any of these schools cut off the email at the end of the term? That matters to me more than how fast I get it.
To be clear about what I'm not asking for: not bought or rented .edu accounts, not alumni forwarding addresses, not anything using someone else's credentials. I've seen those sold online and they seem to get revoked, which defeats the whole point.
Also happy to hear it if the honest answer is "this isn't really a thing, just pay for the subscription."

How much money should I save for a two year program at csn?
I am going to be applying for community college for the upcoming school year and I was wondering how much I would need saved for at least one school year? I already have college credits from high school ( at least enough to not have to do freshman classes) I have credits for teaching and training and I plan on finishing my degree to at least an associates or bachelors. I’m paying for everything myself and I plan on not using any loans.
How much should I have saved?

Is there any hope for me? Low grades (46%), no financial proof, wanting to study in the US.

Whats more difficult, Mt Sac or Citrus?
I’m a senior deciding between Mt. SAC and Citrus College, with the goal of transferring to a UC for psychology.
My main priority is maintaining a very high GPA, but I struggle a lot with math and am worried about statistics, especially at Mt. SAC. For anyone who’s taken stats there, how difficult was it, and is getting an A realistic if you’re willing to put in the work and use tutoring? (And are there any professors you’d recommend?)
Is it difficult to to get individual support or access major-related extracurriculars?
Even if Mt. SAC has more opportunities, that would mean nothing if I ended up struggling academically and getting a lower GPA.
For those who’ve attended or are attending either college: How manageable were the classes, how supportive were the professors, and how realistic was it to maintain a high GPA if you struggled although you were willing to put in the work? Would Citrus be a better option academically, or is Mt. SAC just as manageable?

Need advice
Hi! I completed two years of medical school in my home country with around 140 credit points, but my transcript includes low and failing grades. If I start over at a U.S. community college in Computer Science and earn a 3.8–4.0 GPA over 60 credits, will my previous grades still hurt my chances of transferring to a competitive university? Are there universities that focus on the most recent 60 credits or exclude previous international coursework from GPA calculations?

Community college Parties

I am attending Monroe community college (NY, Rochester) with dorms on campus. Im just curious as to how many parties there would be?
I know community colleges dont get alot of parties, but my coworkers are saying that since it has on campus dorms, the party and hookup culture is going to be similar to that of a university. Im just wanting to know what Im walking into. Id like parties, it would be fun.

ATTENTION FULL-TIME COMMUNITY COLLEGE FACULTY
I am conducting research as part of the requirements for a Doctor of Education degree at Liberty University. The purpose of my research is to explore the lived experiences of full-time community college faculty regarding their perceived preparedness to implement accommodations for students with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
To participate, you must be at least 18 years of age, currently employed as a full-time faculty member at a community college in the Southeastern region of the U.S., have at least one year of teaching experience at a community college, and have experience implementing accommodations for at least one student with a disability within the past three years.
Participants will be asked to complete one individual interview (approximately 60 minutes), one focus group (approximately 90 minutes), and five journal prompts over a two week period (approximately 10 – 15 minutes each, 50-75 minutes total), and review their interview transcript for accuracy (approximately 15 – 30 minutes).
If you are interested and eligible, please click the link provided at the end of this post. A consent form will be emailed to eligible participants 3 business days before the individual interview.

Starting from absolutely nothing
Hey.ill try to make this short but I had a rough year.i recently moved back home from Vermont to take care of my dad full time while he was sick. He ended up passing away last year. I'm not proud of it but I sort of spiraled out and picked up a few bad habits in the months after he passed. I've now received treatment but I'm starting from absolute rock bottom. Now that I'm kind of leveling out I've applied and have been approved for FAFSA and will be starting school this month.im terrified. It was one of my dad's wishes all throughout my life for me to go back to school. now at 34 with no car no laptop and no job that is within walking distance, I'm terrified I'm going to screw this up. I'm determined not to even with my past do you guys have any advise for me going ahead? Financial or educational advise? I really hope I'm ready for this

Has anyone gone back to community college after graduation to take some enrichment classes or as a buffer between transferring to a 4 year?
