Haven't heard the best things about NCSA. From what I've ready, they take your money and you are still mostly on your own. There are definitely many sources out there to help you through the process yourself.
Biggest Tips:
Prioritize what you want to go to school for and decide on the school and life you want, not just the sport (always consider the fact that an injury could end it all)
Contact coaches early and often (they can't contact the athlete/family before the junior year or during dead periods but if they see you are interested then they keep that student in the back of their mind) Resource for how to contact coaches and sample emails. Know what the coaches are looking for.
Know who the coach is through research and reviews from current/former athletes
Campus visits (official and unofficial)
Camps/showcases: participate in them if and when you can
Talk to your current coach for help and guidance
Consider the level of competitiveness you are not only capable of but how much time you want to dedicate to your sport. D1 is highly competitive but with that comes a decrease in social life (really need to be on top of time management)
Understand your financial needs: D1 can offer athletic scholarships but D3 can't. Also know you can negotiate.
Know the process and the steps that need to occur because it isn't as simple as talking to a coach. You need to know if you are NCAA eligible, register with them, and get into the school. DIY Guides are super helpful because they walk you through these steps
