Help a Tourist THANK YOU!

I just wanted to thank all the people who offered me suggestions a couple months ago on places for my family to check out while we were in Cleveland for Spring Break! Here is a list of what we made it to this time:

- Southern Tier taproom (amazing service, great food!)

- Brecksville Nature Center (walked trails, saw some beautiful views, met more super nice locals)

- b.a. sweetie Candy Store and Ice Cream shop

- Rockefeller Park and Greenhouse (such a beautiful assortment of flowers! never would have known about it without this community!)

- West Side Market for Pierogi Palace, also got some yummy baked goods!

- Rock and Roll HOF

- Great Lakes brewery (were here during a tornado warning and power outage, thankfully we had already finished eating. staff were outstanding during the whole thing!)

- Fannie Mae factory

- Pro Football HOF

- Lucky's Cafe (best breakfast ever!)

- Boston Mill Visitor Center at Cuyahoga

- Daffodil Trail

Cleveland was the first city my hubby and I stopped when we took a road trip honeymoon almost 11 years ago. I was worried that I was remembering it with "rose colored glasses", but the whole experience was true to my memory. Thanks again for helping make our family trip so special! 💜

Yes!!! Our air bnb was right by the stadium, we kept seeing the countdown until opening day, it looked like a beautiful ballpark! We are from Wisconsin and are spoiled by the roof at FKA Miller Park.

Oh welcome friend! We hold a special place in our hearts for Brewers fans because our 2007 "home opener" had to happen there (blizzard) -- nd the Brewers fans TURNED OUT for those games even though their team wasn't playing! Long live the Milwaukee Indians fans!

Next time in town do not miss The Cleveland Museum of Art. One of the best in the country and FREE admission.
One of Cleveland's finest jewels. Also with some jewels on display.

Yes! That was a spot that was on the list and we just ran out of time. If we'd had more rainy days it would have made the cut for sure. Definitely next time!

Sshhhhhhh...🤫 don't tell everyone!

No no they need to tell more people, in fact they need to evangelize their experience. Quit their jobs. Sell the house. Travel town to town, city to city regaling the people of America, nay, the world of their trip to Cleveland. We need bus loads of people pouring into the city spending their hard earned money. Armadas of lake bound travelers marooning their boats on our shores with pockets full of gold and silver. These people could save our city. Godspeed good travelers, we expect great things from you!

Oh trust me, I'm going to brag from the rooftops about this trip. I teach about 425 kids as well so I will take a break from my usual indoctrination to make them my Cleveland missionaries.

The kids do love a good Ohio rizz joke, so they are already prepped for adoration of Cleveland.

Ok so funny story, when we were talking with our kids about where to check out this year for Spring Break, my older daughter (9 at the time) said she liked the idea of Ohio "because that's where memes get made". 😂

How lovely! Come back any time!

You discovered more places in CLE in a week than I have in 20+ years. 🤣

I was so thankful that people here shared less "touristy" things to try. It was much more our vibe!

I was today years old when I found out that the greater Cleveland area had a Fannie May factory.

Me too, lived here my entire 55 years of life and don’t think I have been to half the places they visited. 🤦🏻‍♂️

You unlocked a memory for me with your mention of the Fannie May factory! I haven’t been there in years, but went a few times as a child.

I’m glad you had a fun trip.

2

u/redcle Apr 05 '26

So glad you enjoyed our beautiful city!! There is lots to do here for sure. Love our land!!

2

u/elcarincero Apr 05 '26

You’re welcome. You’re also welcome back anytime

Thank you for this post. I grew up spending weeks at a time at my grandparents house in the Cleveland suburbs but when they moved. I haven't been back, I decided I really wanted to go to a Gaurdians game again. My kids are now young adults and have never been the the city that is such a large part of my childhood. So this list is really helpful to add to my own list.

" THE LAND " will always surprise you with what we have to offer....

b.a. sweetie Candy Store and Ice Cream shop has been on my list to stop in sometime, but just never do. I need to prioritize that.

I do love Lucky's Cafe, that was a good choice.

Welcome friends!!!

Barely scratched the surface! Good stuff. Grumpys is better than Luckys for breakfast

1

u/thrownthrowaway666 Apr 04 '26

Never been to Lucky's to compare, I just feel like after COVID it went downhill. Service and food. We gave it like 3 trikes to be sure. They swung and missed, 3 center cut fastballs

Why didn't you visit the Cleveland Museum of Art? I'm certain it was recommended. It has free general admission and is one of the top rated attractions in all of Ohio. It's a fully digital art museum with much natural lighting, one of the most spectacular art museums in the U.S.

Holden Arboretum, the U.S.S. Cod and Steamship Mather, and Holden Arboretum are other attractions to consider on your next visit.
