A little patterning advice

r/Shotguns looks like just a lot of gun-porn, so forgive the off-topic but I'm bringing it to the subreddit that knows a thing or two. I have a conventional question about an unconventional shotgun. I hunt with a PBBA Pro-20, which is a 20ga air-shotgun. It's a cylinder bore, but later versions than mine were threaded for chokes and I'm considering having it threaded. I patterned at 35yds with a variety of sizes of steel and bismuth shot, as shown in the pics. #6 steel is 1oz, #3 bismuth is about 25grams.

In the sub's opinion, am I getting good patterns? I'm mostly duck and dove hunting with 35-40yd shots, and I'm missing birds that I am confident I should be hitting. I'm wondering if my pattern is too loose. The google-fu just turns up a lot of non-answers and advertisements when I try to search for normal 20ga patterns.

In the field I'm mostly shooting #6 steel with a commander wad, and #3 bismuth with a commander wad. Don't mind the low pattern on some of those, I've since raised the cheek piece.

Thoughts on Browning Synergy 20GA 26"?

I've been renting shotguns up to this point and want to get an O/U of my own. I'm short statured (5'6") so I want something without too long of a length of pull.

Looking for any and all input. Relatively new to clays (~1 year a few times a month). Not looking to do it professionally but want to have fun and maybe compete in local competitions at some point.

Thoughts on this model? Any other models I should consider?

Manual thrower recommendations?

As the title says, I’m wanting a manual thrower to mess with around the house. I know electric is the way to go but I’m wanting the capability to throw doubles as well as singles. I’m definitely leaning towards the Do-All outdoors 3/4 cock backyard thrower. They claim it gets around 70 yards each throw and the 3/4 system seems like it’d take a ton of the work out of it. Any input would be appreciated!

Dead Pair Club, a free map of ~1,500 US clay shooting clubs.

A while back I posted about a ClayBusters Directory I was working on. It's now live at deadpair.club.

I see people asking all the time, here and on the forums, where to shoot when they're traveling. Now that I have a bit more free time, I vibe coded this with the help of Claude Code and Codex to make that easier.

What it does:

  • Search or browse on a map by location and discipline (sporting clays, trap, skeet, 5-stand)
  • Each club has a page with its website, location and the disciplines it offers
  • Free, with no ads and no account needed to search

Where it stands: about 1,600 clubs are listed. Most clubs are marked "Unconfirmed" because I couldn't fully check them yet. Some phone numbers, hours or disciplines will be wrong, and some clubs are missing (Texas and Washington are probably the thinnest).

Where I could use your help:

  • Look up your home club. Every page has a button to suggest a fix. Use it if anything is off.
  • If your club isn't listed, use the new club button to submit it.
  • If you run or belong to a club, you can claim its listing.

This is a hobby project, so there's no business behind it. I'd rather it be accurate than big. Thanks to everyone who gave feedback on the first post!

New 20 or 28 ga for new shooters

I have a 12ga A400 Xcel Sporting which I love, but am looking for another lighter shotgun to use when I bring friends / new shooters / my gf to the Sporting Clays / Trap course. I want a second shotgun that’s fun for me, softer shooting, and allows us to not have to pass a gun around 4 people.

Budget: <$2000 ideally, but welcome <1000 options
- lighter
- soft shooting
- used for clays (trap, Sporting, skeet), not hunting

Leaning toward an A400 28ga Upland, but open to Semi / OU recs!

Have an event planned on the 7th and want to pick it up by then. Thank you CB!

Also I know this is one of 10 daily posts like this, but I’ve read through 50+ posts, watched 20 YT videos, and am in decision paralysis. Tried to pick one on my own, but only experience is w my A400 12ga.

I do not have the ability to try any of these out.

Blaser F16 Game extended choke

Long story short, I sold my Beretta SP. I bought an Blaser F16 game, but I would like to get an extended choke. I’m thinking of buying Briley or Teague. In the EU Teague has easier and cheaper shipping. I would choose the super extended which is longer than the common Brileys. Any advice which is “better”.

I use the gun in the field and at the shooting range too.
