Discussion I ranked the whole Chrono Cross OST (Video Breakdown also below) - Which one(s) do you agree with? Spoiler
I grew up with this game and have loved the OST since then. Then as I got into speedrunning it and grew a little bit of an audience who also loves the game and it's music, was asked about ranking the on a tier list.
Figured this would be a good place to also post for continued discussion on which one(s) people disagree or agree with haha.
Also, if you would like to see what I was thinking when I ranked any of them, I made a lightly edited version of the stream where it was done.

Discussion Guile = Alfador ?
As most of us know, Guile was originally supposed to either be Magus or at least tied to him until they decided to downplay this in the final game. In the Japanese version, Guile’s name is Alf, which seems to be a callback to Magus’s cat Alfador.
In Another Eden, another game that Masato Kato wrote and directed more recently, the main character Aldo is revealed to originally be a cat.
If Guile was Magus, he could very well just be naming himself Alf while he’s “undercover,” but this is just something I noticed while playing both Cross and Another Eden Begins lately, along with Guile’s hair being a bit more purple like Alfador’s fur. Perhaps this is a carryover from an old idea to have Guile be Alfador searching for his old owner? Perhaps not at all and I’m just schizoposting? Food for thought!

Steam Looking for Chrono Cross randomizer testers
Hey everyone. I've been working on Chrono Cross randomization on and off since the beginning of the year. My end goal is to create an open world randomizer with support for the randomizers in Archipelago. Archipelago is a framework for multiworld, multi-game randomization.
Quick note. The randomizers I've been working on are for the Radical Dreamers edition only. The reason is that modding is more accessible in this version. It's also the version that most people in the Moogles & Mods discord are working on actively. Creating a patch for the PSX version would be more difficult, but maybe not impossible. Just not right now.
Earlier this year, I started building an innate randomizer (all characters and their boss forms, where relevant, convert to a randomized innate, including their unique techs) and have been working on finishing a boss randomizer, too. The innate randomizer has not been fully tested, so I would be very interested in anyone who wants to try it out. I think the game is pretty safe from locking or breaking on this one, but, again, not fully tested. I have some special code for the spoilers twist, too. Although, that's not fully tested yet either.
The boss randomizer is in a worse position. I've noticed there are a lot of unexpected game-breaking boss swaps. I'm pretty confident anyone testing won't be able to complete a full run, so I'm more interested in people who can test fighting bosses by loading up a save, rather than playing the entire game. On loading saves before bosses, I could really use help from someone who can find or create save data in front of these boss locations, too.
I'm hoping that by posting about the randomizers that I've been working on that I can find people who are interested in helping because creating the randomizers and testing them takes a very long time as a solo developer.
If you're interested in testing anything, you can leave a comment or DM me. Thanks for reading!

Fan Content a poem inspired by chrono cross -
endless
i talk to a man sometimes
his name is Miguel and he lives at the End of Time
he is a lonely guy, prefers the color brown, and wears suspenders with a beekeeper's hat
he says life is a game of which we dont know the rules
I counter by saying perhaps we learn along the way
he smiles.

Discussion Did you know? For some reason someone at Square kept putting an attack called "Cyrus Punch" in their games. It first appeared in the Chrono Trigger Prerelease ROM (but not in the released version). Then it was mentioned in Xenogears. Finally it was usable in Chrono Cross (translated as SlapOfCyrus).

Discussion Played Chrono Cross for the first time in 17 years on Steam (PC). Here are my thoughts and regrets Spoiler
Previously I played Chrono Cross on either PS1 and PS2. The picture quality on the remastered version is a lot better. Since Chrono Cross was actually my cousin's game (since her mom worked over the weekend, she spent Fri-Sun at our house), this was my first real opportunity to play Chrono Cross from the very beginning and not just a New Game+. I decided to put spoilers on both the storylines and the posts that involve strategy just in case.
It took me 8 days and 56 hours of playing time to finish. Since I hadn't played it in so long, I was stuck on a lot of the puzzles and how to get certain places. I wasn't sure how to catch the komodo dragons. I didn't know thatif you had Kid join with you that you couldn't add Leena. I wish I had gotten Leena. I went to the trouble to get Mojo, but I didn't actually use him in any battle.
I chose the Nikki route to Viper Manor because the other routes don't sit right with me for a first attempt. If you take Pierre's route, one of your characters gets killed by Ketchop, and even though they get revived, they're wounded. If you take Guile's route, it's awkward because you have a character with a black innate who goes with you to face a boss with a black innate (referring to King Moaman). At least I get a fair fight if I choose the Nikki path, even though Guile is the strongest character of the three.
I decided to not save Kid because I thought fighting the Hi Ho Tank would put me in a hole, but I didn't realize the Dragoon boss was going to be difficult. He killed Serge and Nikki, and only Glenn was left standing with about 40 HP. I decided to swap out Nikki with Macha after I finish the head-tail-body crap. I forgot to get Docbecause I thought I would get him automatically at some point. I wish I had gotten him, although I don't think he would have helped my party much since I already had a strong white innate character in Serge.
It took me two tries to beat Sun of a Gun. Up to that point, he was the only boss who beat me on my first attempt. I was stunnedthat some attacks that on paper should have been tough on him like gravity blow did next to nothing on him.
I didn't mind using Macha against Bunyip even though Bunyip is a red innate bosssince he turns into a black innate boss. When facing Bunyip, he did kill Macha after his innate turned black, but since I had revive, everyone was standing at the end. In my strategy, I used blue and black elements against him in his first form, and red and white elements in his second form. Viper and Lynx were jokes.
I tried to recruit Funguy but found it too complicated, so I gave up. I got lost on Fargo's ship. I didn't know what to do. I felt lucky to get off of it, so I missed the save Marbule challenge, and I also gave up on the grand slam after I lost the second battle.
I proudly beat Garai on the first try by doppleganging as a Wight Knight and using Radius instead of Harle so that I don't have 3 black innate characters.I don't actually like using Sprigg, and even thoughWight Knight has a black innate, I didn't intend to actually use that creature for the elements, I just wanted the strong physical attacks in the 200's. I decided to use the same strategy against Miguel later on. Miguel beat me on my first try, but I think that was a fluke because Lynx's physical attacks kept missing. At one point, I missed an attack that was at 99%. I didn't change much on my second attempt except bringing diminish one element sooner in my grid. On the second try, I beat Miguel easily. No one died, and Itrapped Holy Light. Total victory.
I beat the Water Dragon on the first try with Lynx, Fargo, and Orcha. Orcha died at some point in the fight, so I did struggle with this one. The Fire Dragon was the hardest dragon boss for me. He kept running my HP low. I ran away twice from the Green Dragon because at one point he made it to where Fargo couldn't use blue elements, and I wasn't going to play that game.
I fought Starky in between the dragon battles hoping I could get some strong white elements from him to use against the Black Dragon. I ran away after my first try because I didn't realize seal all only works against you and not your opponents. That was the worst element I ever used. Burn it with fire. I didn't end up getting any traps successfully done.
I was distraught when I found out that I couldn't fight the Black Dragon. I didn't know that the boss was optional. Every other time I saw it played, the player fought him. I thought I'd be screwed without the black plate. To make up for it, I decided to fight both Dario and the Criosphinx to get the Mastermune and Sunglasses respectively and the second Einlanzer. Itreated Dario like a blue and yellow innate boss to win. I didn't use black or white elements.
The Criosphinx was the hardest boss battle for me. I lost to him on the first try even with a yellow plate because his physical attacks are too strong. On my second try, I allocated Lynx's element grid with cure elements all over the place and relied on physical attacks. I was almost out of elements by the time I won. If his HP was closer to 15,000, I would have lost. I think that was the most boring battle in the game. It took me over 30 minutes. It felt like a never ending cycle.
The Sky Dragon was made easy. I wasted money trying to trap ultranova because she didn't even last long enough to use it.
Now that totally made up for not getting the black plate. Dark Serge was incredibly easy to beat, and Fate wasn't hard either. I trapped FreeFall, and she didn't even complete two countdowns. PolisPolice used a bazooka tech against my one character who had a white plate. Epic fail. I actually beat Gravitor twice, because on one try, he killed one character, but I actually killed Gravitor without reviving the person he killed. I wanted the player to receive a bonus. On the second try, I beat him without anyone coming close to dying.
For the Time Devourer on Terra Tower, I knew I wanted to use Serge and Glenn for X-Strike. I knew Serge and Glenn would do serious damage since they have white, green, and red tech skills. I decided that the last person in the party should be a blue innate person that fights with "glove" since I acquired spectral glove. I had to decide between Marcy and Orhla, and I decided on Marcy based on the magic stats. I made Marcy into a blue, yellow, and black element specialist, Glenn a black, red, and green element specialist, and Serge a white, yellow, and red element specialist. That was easy work.
On the last battle, I used Serge, Kid, and Poshul against Lavos, not for strategic reasons. Lavos kept interrupting my element sequence, but I finally learned how the stamina works. I thought Chrono Cross had to be the last element, but then I placed it in the first column of Serge's grid. So I had to run away a few times because I realized I kept losing the element colors that I needed from overuse.
Glenn was my most valuable accessory character on this attempt. I didn't realize he was that good when I was played 20 years ago.

Switch Odd glitch very early game.
I'm on my first playthrough, literally just bought the game a couple hours ago, and already got soft-locked and have start over (well I have to wait till tomorrow now start over, because I have to get to bed for work).
The glitch in question, to the best of my knowledge is:
A soon as you wake up in the beginning of the game, go to the left of Serge's house, and take the path to get to the old man with the tutorial fight. I think his name was Radius. On that map there is a little girl chasing a big pink dog-thing. The little girl went off-screen on the right-hand side, I accidentally talked to her while she was off screen, and boom, stuck forever.
I'm happy I wasn't further along, and hopeully I remember the few goodies I got, so I can get them again after tomorrow. I got something in Serge's bedroom (mashed "A" and missed what it was), some kind of power-laser attack, some rock attack called uplift I think, a helmet, a komodo scale, and something from a barrel that got mad at me for talking to it like 3 times.

Discussion Humanity are evil *according to the Dragonians*
Don't forget the whole "humanity are evil" shtick in the game only comes from the Dragonians and Demi-Humans
They don't necessarily speak for the Planet
The Planet did bring Dinopolis to this dimension, but it was primarily an instinctual reaction when Chronopolis was pulled back in time. It wasn't necessarily a deeply thought out decision
Also, we know Dinopolis and Chronopolis fought one another but we don't actually know who attacked first. For all we know Dinopolis could have been the aggressor
And lastly, the Dragon God we see in the game is a corrupted being, basically remote controlled by the Time Devourer. It isn't the original Dragon God who was in tune with nature

Question humanity are evil? Spoiler
According to the story of Chrono Cross, various demi-humans, fairies, dwarves, and the Dragonians essentially claim that humanity is evil and irredeemable due to its actions toward nature; is this really the case, or is it just an exaggeration by the game's detractors?
