I've been listening to a lot of emo lately and less Christian music. Been struggling in my faith honestly. But maybe i can at least have good sounding Christian music in the background. ,(i.e. right now my main Playlist is Yellowcard, Dashboard Confessionial, The Ataris, Mayday Parade, Red Jumpsuit Aparatus, The All-American Rejects, a bit of Jimmy Eat World, etc). What the song and video are about in my opinion:

Both the lyrics and the video work in tandem. It's about and old man, who's died (or is dying?). The video starts with his funeral and a priest is standing over him and we see his soul ascend to heaven.

His life flashes before his eyes, the good, the bad, the ugly. It starts with him as a young man in WW2 for example, but I won't spoil the video for you people.

I think the message is that at the end if you believe in the Lord, there will be "a light up ahead" and that's where the old man man is now going. To the light, to God, to his place in heaven.

It's quite bittersweet and I'm not ashamed to admit this song, even though I've know it for 20 years, still can bring a tear to eye. I combination with the video as it remnds of my grandpa who died around that time.

I'm not sure who he sings to. It might be and angel, it might be God. It might be to himself in his last moments, or as I think, this is after he already died and it's his soul singing on it's journey to heaven. Reflecting on his life.

My view: This is not a Catholic song, so I might be off. But 16 Horsepower are a very Christian, god fearing band. This I don't connect with on a personal level. But I respect it.

This song goes full old testament. Some people have taken the "Black Choir" too literal and made it a race things, obviously that's not what's going on here. Just read the lyrics.

the choir is black because it is sung by sinners. The line "Every man is evil" says it all.

We are all sinners. Again, the line is right is there "I will offer up a brick to the back of your head, boy, If I was Cain"

We all have evil inside of us. But there's God, and only He can lead us sinners to salvation.

It's a very dark song, but that's why I like it. Humanity is dark. Being Christian isn't about singing kumbaya. There's a lot of darkness in the bible, and the Lord is the only one who can prevent us from leading astray.

So I as a Christian I'm only able to find some christian artists that don't all sound like the same melody and words. Its honestly a problem in our world today. I was in no way raised on only Christian music cause that's not how any of my family is but we'd like some Christian music besides Forest Frank and Anne Wilson, Phil Whickam, King and country, Lauren Daigle, Chris Tomlin and Brandon Lake a few others. Other then them we haven't been able to find any we like and we want to be able at times to listen to Christian music but to my family most of it just sounds the same and its not great at all. Do any of you guys have recommendations?

I thought it would be fun to bring this up. How many bands/artists do you know that started out making God centered music and then strayed to worldly themes? I can think of NF and the band Red. Any others?

please reccommend me cool christian singer songwriters. im lost seeking an artist who can write not only generic mainstream worship but maybe also contemplative like david, having a listening gift to gods movement and relationship with the human condition and obviously bible grounded

So, I’ve been looking for slow Christian songs, but most of them seem to follow the same pattern: they start slowly, but then things get crazy with fast music and powerful vocals 😂

I have nothing against that, and I do enjoy those songs, but sometimes, that’s just not the mood I’m looking for during my devotional and prayer time. Instrumental music is great, but sometimes I’d like to sing along, too!

I’m looking for something similar to I’ll Never Let You Go by Zach Webb. Any recommendations? 😊

I'm trying to find a specific cover of Todd Agnew's Grace Like Rain. I don't know much about it other than growing up with the song being played at my church with this intro as an alternate, and the recording was apparently from some cd being sold at Walmart in the 00's. I tried diving through youtube to see if it's out there, but I have had no luck so far. Any help would be appreciated! Anyone listen to/have thoughts about the song or album?

Back in the 90s, I am 100% certain that our youth group and possibly even adult choir did a version of Bob Fitts's Our God Is Faithful. I remember it being much fuller sounding and at one point building big on the “We’re redeemed” line and goes into a drum and vocals only version of the chorus before going back in full band. I have no idea if it was a released album of some sort of if a church did their own arrangement and sold cds or something like that. So many churches had their own releases they’d lay down to cd back then. I know it’s a long shot but if anyone had any clues, Google, Discogs, Claude, etc. have turned up nothing.

Hi Just wondering if there were any fans of David Kushner( US singer songwriter) here in this reddit group. He's gained quite a bit of popularity over the past few years. Genuinely curious but I guess you would have to watch western content to know him though...

He has made songs like Daylight, Humankind, Burn, Mr Forgettable..

I love Metal and the sub genres but sometimes the screaming scares my wife lol. I really like slowcore or if they can sing with nice melodies but still have the heavy music! I wish Sleep Token was Christian!

Artistically I really struggle to rate their music, maybe that's a cultural thing (I'm in the UK) not their target audience.

But compared to Hillsong, Elevation, Bethel etc... what they bring I struggle to resonate with. Quite a few people at my church seem to think the same.

Yet our pastors keep putting PS songs on our Sunday set list.
